Assistance needed

There has been a pattern of disruptive editing on Sri Lankan Civil War related topics (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam ↗, Sri Lanka Armed Forces ↗, Pottuvil massacre ↗, 1977 anti-Tamil pogrom ↗) by some editors. There seems to be what I feel WP:POV Pushing ↗ taking place. Appreciate your kind attention and involvement to settle these disputes and suspend edit waring. Cossde (talk) 14:51, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
:{{ping|Cossde}} do you want me to go to those talk pages individually, or is there a central page where this issue is being taken up? SinhalaLion (talk) 22:05, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
::@SinhalaLion, thank you. Yes, you may have to go to the talk pages. Cossde (talk) 04:44, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
:::@Cossde I had a look and things are an absolute mess to say the least. Could you summarize the issues for each of the four pages you mentioned so I can get up to speed? Give both sides' perspectives please. SinhalaLion (talk) 02:52, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
::::@SinhalaLion, there seem to be WP:BIAS ↗ editing by WP:NAT ↗ editors who seem to be disrupting any editing that they will offsets the narrative, claiming content to be excessive even when content with citations are added. In the case of 1977 anti-Tamil pogrom ↗, there is an active DRN ↗ on content. Regarding the other pages, appreciate if you can join the talk pages and perhaps with the content to see if WP:NPOV ↗ can be achieved. Furthermore, appreciate if you can share your thoughts on Talk:Sri_Lankan_Tamils#RfC_about_inclusion_of_additional_name_for_an_ethnic_group ↗. Cossde (talk) 14:46, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
:::::@Cossde Ok, I'll have a look. Also, I anticipate another dispute arising in 1985 anti-Tamil pogrom in Karaitivu ↗ because I have added and will be adding content and references that point to the misbehavior of the Tamil militant groups towards Muslims in the leadup to the pogrom, something that prior discussion on this topic leads me to believe will not be accepted with open arms to say the least... SinhalaLion (talk) 18:42, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
:::::@Cossde the pages you mentioned seemed to have been referred to WP:ANI ↗ and other third-party mediation avenues, so I'm not sure that I should get involved. SinhalaLion (talk) 03:59, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

A warning/threat of Wikipedia action

{{Admin help|answered=yes}}

A user recently made a comment in a content dispute in a talk page: "If you force through your edit to push your stated belief of "FAFO," I will have to drag you to the Arbitration Committee" ↗. The "FAFO" is a reference to a comment I made two years ago that I addressed then (as it was a misinterpretation on their part), thought we agreed on, and more importantly, I have refrained from reproducing since. I also believe that my conduct in the talk page was in line with Wikipedia standard: I gave my case, they disagreed, I said that I would refer the matter to a noticeboard. I have also left a message ↗ on their talk page stating my concerns with their comment. There was no reason to believe I would "force through my edit," unless escalating to a noticeboard is "force."

Beyond the rather uncivil and hostile imagery of "drag you," '''are they actually correct in what they claim they can do?''' My understanding of WP:DR ↗ is that user conduct is first to discuss it on their talk page. To my knowledge, they have not done this. They also, to my knowledge, have not referred the matter to a noticeboard. I believed the issue was resolved in 2024, so I'm surprised to see it being reopened in this manner. I feel that it's a form of intimidation on their part. All disputes in question are related to the Sri Lanka civil war, which is under WP:CTOP ↗, so I'm not sure if there's a special exception for it. SinhalaLion (talk) 15:19, 5 July 2026 (UTC)

:Hi SinhalaLion, while 1985 Trincomalee massacres ↗ falls under Wikipedia:Contentious topics/South Asia ↗, it does not look like there has been edit warring ↗ or other disruptive editing from you that was not discussed at the talk page. At most, my interpretation is that if you try to re-instate your view point that has been reverted, Petextrodon may have cause to request sanctions against you at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement ↗. I apologize for not giving a clear response (such as who is in the right here, or what should be done) but this looks like a content dispute that I do not have much context for.
:Finally, this could have been answered by any non-admin as well, so you could have used {{template|Help me}} and gotten a quicker answer. -- <span style="color:#4E8321">Reconrabbit</span> (<span class="skin-invert" style="color:#073131">talk</span>) 14:43, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
