Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Benny Bartlett ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Thank Your Lucky Stars ↗. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)

Quotation marks and serial commas

Hello, thanks for your edit to Arthur Godfrey ↗. However, Wikipedia uses logical quotation ↗, in which the position of punctuation inside or outside the quotation marks depends on whether the punctuation is part of the quoted text, so I've undone the parts of your edit that changed quote positioning. Also, serial commas are optional here ↗. I personally like like them, but please don't add them to an article unless they resolve ambiguity. Please do not add original research to Wikipedia

When you insert statements into articles and add citations to sources that do not actually support those sources, then the statements do not comply with WP:V ↗ and in turn are original research in violation of WP:NOR ↗.

You need to find a source that actually connects the three things you are trying to connect: that the film ''Wilson'' had an unusually high budget which in turn led to an unusually high ticket price which in turn led to poor box office performance. Yes, that can be extremely time-consuming and frustrating, but that is required by WP:V ↗ and WP:NOR ↗. Coolcaesar (talk) 16:54, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

Recent edits to Laurel and Hardy ↗

Thanks for all your work and yes, all the Harv errors & warnings are gone but...
I'm sorry but it looks to me that the present references are causing other issues. For instance, previously the Mitchell 2010 cites linked up directly to the Mitchell source. Now they don't. Why? Same with MacGillivray, Louvish, Gehring 1990, Andrews 1997, Mitchell 2010, McCabe2004b, and so on. Also, entire sections of the article now have no or few references at all, including, among other sections, "Style of comedy and characterizations", "Catchphrases", "Feature films", "Career interruption", 'Hal Roach", "Leo McCarey".
The issue was not necessarily the "harvnb" cite style, the ''issue'' was technical difficulties with a very few cites, including '''''all''''' 18 of the McCabe cites (the 13 McCabe 1975 cites, the 3 McCabe 1989 cites, the 2 McCabe 1975 cites). The McCabe refs made up 38 of the cite issues. The way the McCabe cites were constructed - especially the apparent errors in the publication years was the main verifiability ↗ issue with the article in its previous form.
I am not sure how to proceed with editing on the article now. For instance, there are 2 McCabe cites - Refs 10 & 16 - that point nowhere. Skretvedt & Mitchell both have 2 different publication years - which edition was consulted for the information/are the pages the same? And so on.
I had put a lot of work into improving the article's references and, yes, my work was basically erased. Simplifying references was not the issue, making them ''work'' was. (And I am not "Wikipedia" lol, I'm just another editor who has an opinion.) The main issue with the article's quality now is that major portions of it are unreferenced or lacking sufficient references. The present referencing style is somewhat a matter of opinion - I'm going to leave the article alone for a while and see how it all looks to me in a week or two. Good luck. - Shearonink (talk) 16:50, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

:Hello -- Thanks for the quick reply, and I'm terribly sorry for having erased your work. Not my intention. I thought you had taken exception to the "harvnb" references, and the vague references to authors that didn't specify which book was being referenced. I removed references where I thought the topic under discussion was already referenced by the same book or another book. Mostly I removed incomplete references, where an author's name was mentioned with no corresponding title or page number. I was trying to follow the Wikipedia style by citing each source in full on the first citation, and then listing the author and page number on each subsequent citation.
:By all means restore whatever work you had done, as you see fit. I never meant to add to the problem. Thanks for your patience, and I do appreciate your efforts on behalf of the subject of the article.
:Best wishes -- Scott MacGillivray SonsSecretary (talk) 17:33, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
