Question from Handumont (02:58, 15 April 2026)

Hey there! Thank you for reaching out and offering your guidance. I recently published an article titled, "dressing by body type in women". If you could, I would so appreciate any tips or feedback you might have on the article. Thank you so much! --Handumont (talk) 02:58, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @Handumont. On the basis that your article has been marked as reviewed by a WP:NPP ↗ reviewer, that is effectively the only hurdle you need to cross. I might suggest that the article could cover the topic "dressing by body type in women" more tightly - what I mean is that there is content about body type, and content about changes in fashion and dressing, but not as much about the juxtaposition of the two. You might want to try to expand the article accordingly.
:I have tagged the article as an {{tl|orphan}}, which means that no other article in the encyclopedia links to it - it's worth trying to find other pages on related topics that you can wikilink to his article, to bind it into the encyclopedia. Similarly, there are words and phrases in this article that could be wikilinked to other articles in the encyclopedia.
:On a minor stylistic point, I see that there are a lot of instances of curly quotes, which should be swapped out for straight quotes: see MOS:CURLY ↗. I hope that this is all helpful. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:27, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
::Very helpful, thank you so much I appreciate your time! :) Handumont (talk) 22:14, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

Article Disclosures

Hi SunFrogger!,

I wrote an article about a design I am pioneering.
And I think I disclosed conflict of interest correctly, but I am not sure.
I also tried to add references to the base of the article origin but by the part of the submission attempt I was in it wasn't letting me back into the base article to do that. :) happy to be here: hope to do some good for the collection of human knowledge. Any instructive to be more effective on Wiki would be greatly gladdening.

Thanks,
DevaPollinate DevaPollinate (talk) 22:39, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @DevaPollinate. I will be honest and say that I do not think that Draft:Living Lumber ↗ is a suitable for you to be writing about: see {{slink|Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_publisher_of_original_thought}}. I strongly suggest that you turn your energies elsewhere. If you must continue, then you will need proper published sources on such to base the content, and cite them properly: see HELP:CITE ↗. For the conflict of interest, see {{slink|Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI}} for the instructions on how to do this properly. I hope this helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:04, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
::I read the COI guidelines and addressed them in article. I also wrote this post as an adjustment to schedule via certain website purchases being compromised for the purpose of disclosure elsewhere. Respectively having posts of the tangibles and current studies vrs the description of such is the crux that applies to : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_publisher_of_original_thought
::Which is not something that I had previously come across on Wiki guidelines to factor for the decision in writing the article. Thank you for that.
::Mostly I am here to exhibit my inner grammar police and spelling know how so this article is kind of a one off for admin to decide if it's within wiki ethics.
::And yes, the pre-emptive of doing what diligence I can for the sake of our living planet does interplay aka the COI.
:: Still without a website I could at least feature on you-tube for proper citations so there's that: Simply Said one of my original thought pieces is already on wiki and college textbooks, but I don't often leak business secrets through senator like I did with that one. Simply said, I am just attempting to give the worth of my mind to the world through the means I have. Also as stated to address COI in article. &#126;2026-23847-49 ↗ (talk) 02:12, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Barbarischster (20:58, 21 April 2026)

Hello, I have a question regarding the amount of stuff to write about a certain topic. For example if a page in a book has a considerable amount of relevant info that cannot be summarized without missing key points would it be appropriate to somewhat write about majority of the pages content's? --Barbarischster (talk) 20:58, 21 April 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @Barbarischster. It's probably worth you reading WP:DUE ↗ to help you decide. But there's nothing fundamental against doing that, provided you use your own words and don't copy content. I would always counsel that, generally, "less is more" though. I hope that helps a bit. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 21:41, 21 April 2026 (UTC)

Zero

zero is the right direction... Arhamfied1.0 (talk) 15:25, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

I was tempted to drafiify unilaterally, too

I felt that the prior AfD needed to be honoured instead, and by a further AfD. After all, consensus can change with circumstances, and that award might just plausibly be notable im the community's eyes. My thinking was that it deserved a discussion. Otherwise I am not at all averse to IAR bold actions. 🇵🇸&zwj;🇺🇦&nbsp;<span style="color:#800">Fiddle</span><small>Timtrent</small>&nbsp;<span style="color:#070">Faddle</span><small>Talk&nbsp;to&nbsp;me</small>&nbsp;🇺🇦&zwj;🇵🇸 21:57, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for becoming my editing mentor. I hope to slowly be able to learn the necessary skills. BTW, I accidentally raised a second account which should be deleted if possible. --Austerestar (talk) 05:30, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @Austerestar. Re your second account, the simplest thing to do is just change the password to something complicated, then forget about the account and use this one. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:48, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks, I can forget about it now if that is not a problem. I will only be using my old account under my new username. Keep up the good work. Austerestar (talk) 05:51, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello, Is it necessary to direct link towards The Wikipedia Library ↗ when you can literally direct link towards newspaperarchive website.––<span style="color: #000099; font-weight: bold; font-family: Georgia;">KE</span>mel<span style="color: red;">49</span>(📝,📋 ↗) 18:53, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

:Yes. The two complement each other. The {{tl|twlac}} template provides a direct WP:LIBRARY ↗ authenticated link for the convenience of editors who can use the Wikipedia Library, helping verification. It is invisible to others, so doesn't clutter up the citation. I have no objection to there being a URL in the citation, but I do object to your removing a useful template. At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.

After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.

'''2024 and 2025 NPP Awards'''

74px|left ↗{{no ping|JTtheOG}} was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.
{{no ping|Hey man im josh}} and {{no ping|MPGuy2824}} won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.

{{no ping|BoyTheKingCanDance}}, {{no ping|Rosiestep}}, {{no ping|SunDawn}}, and {{no ping|Vanderwaalforces}} were inducted into the NPP Hall of Fame ↗ for having two separate years of 2,000+ article reviews.

'''May backlog drive'''

An article-only backlog drive is currently underway. We are hoping to make a big dent in the backlog. You can read more about it or join at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026 ↗.

Question from VitaliKozm (10:03, 16 May 2026)

Hello, and thanks for being my mentor.

I'm working on Draft:Ballroom Theatre, about an Estonian ballroom dance show. I should disclose upfront that I have a conflict of interest: I'm connected to the subject, and I've declared this on my user page and the relevant talk pages.

The draft was moved back to draftspace by a reviewer with the note that it needs more sources to establish notability. Since then I've cleaned up the wording and added a feature article from Estonian World.

I'd really appreciate an honest assessment: do you think the current sourcing is enough for the draft to pass AfC, or is it still short? And if it's short, what kind of sources should I be looking for — I want to understand what actually counts before I resubmit, rather than submitting too early.

Thank you for your time. --VitaliKozm (talk) 10:03, 16 May 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @VitaliKozm. I would say that the best sources would be critical reviews in reputable newspapers or magazines. You'd need ideally three or more to demonstrate notability. There's useful information about how to choose good sources and avoid bad sources here. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 20:00, 16 May 2026 (UTC)

Hey. I would like to receive editing suggestions on topics like Philosophy and Religion, and Programming (software development). :::::So, first, you must not edit with this account, but rather concentrate your efforts on getting {{noping|Footra}} unblocked. After that, we can worry about the article. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 21:48, 20 May 2026 (UTC)

Question from Advraghav007 (04:30, 25 May 2026)

Hello how to create new article in wikipedia? --Advraghav007 (talk) 04:30, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @Advraghav007. Before you get into writing new articles, I'd strongly recommend that you get some experience of just making edits to existing pages first: take a look at the suggested tasks page ↗. However, if you're really keen to write an article from scratch, read through Help:Your first article ↗ first, then use the article wizard ↗ to guide you through the process. Some general suggestions from me:
:* The most important thing is to gather the sources from which you'll write the article {{em|first}}. Don't be tempted to write the article up front and {{em|then}} find the sources to back it up, because that's difficult ↗.
:* Very generally, you will need three ↗ reliable ↗ independent ↗ sources with significant coverage ↗ of the subject to demonstrate that the subject is sufficiently notable ↗ to warrant its own article. There's useful information about how to choose good sources and avoid bad sources here.
:* Make sure you use your own words to write the article - don't plagiarise your sources, because copyright violations ↗ are taken seriously on Wikipedia.
:* Don't use a chatbot ↗ or other kind of AI to generate an article - they don't do a good job at all, and your article will probably end up getting deleted.
:* Use your sandbox ↗ to draft your article, rather than create it first off in mainspace. That will allow you to take your time. When it's ready, just move it to mainspace.
:Good luck! Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:00, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Question from AsianTrainGuy (06:36, 3 June 2026)

Great, thank you. I published my first article with a few facts and referenced a number of news articles. Can I add my own as a first hand source? --AsianTrainGuy (talk) 06:36, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @AsianTrainGuy. You're right: anything that you add to an article must be backed up by a reliable source ↗. For photos, if they are your own, the best thing to do is upload them to Wikimedia Commons ↗, and then link them from the article. See Help:Pictures ↗ for more information on the nuts and bolts of how to do this. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 06:55, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from Acjf (03:17, 4 June 2026)

Brand new to this, and struggling. Content about "Gilbert Strang", paragraph with his video lectures URL's was taken down.
If the actual URL was given it should have been retained?
I understand his doctoral students who do not have a Wikipedia page cannot be linked to this article.
Question: Can I put up information I know is true, and that exists on the Internet/author website, by just giving the description and the URL? --Acjf (talk) 03:17, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @Acjf. You can add information to an article if it is pertinent, and backed up by a reliable source. Just to comment on the edits you made
:* Here ↗, you have added external URLs into the body of the text, which is, in general, not permitted. An exception is sometimes made for external links to book titles in lists of works, though to avoid appearing promotional ↗, an ISBN is better. Personally, I tend to include links to book titles only if there is a full version that is freely available, e.g. through the Internet Archive or something like that.
:* Here ↗, it would have been OK to include the updated URL to the book title, but you have done it as an inline citation. Though, as I said above, better to include the ISBN. I have edited the article to do just that.
:* Here ↗, the addition of a list of courses and links to those courses as inline citations may appear promotional to some. Better to include them in the External URLs section. I would personally only choose to include his final lecture at MIT: the article is not supposed to be a laundry list of the subject's online lectures.
:I hope that helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:10, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks. Still not sure if I am breaking any rules.
::For example the four courses mentioned (e.g. Math 18.06 ↗, Math 18.06SC ↗, Math 18.065 ↗, Math 18.085 ↗) are <u>free video lectures</u> (entire courses are free for anyone). They have been used by students around the world (20+ million views).
::'''Question''': Can they stay up, or should I remove them?
::In "Books and monographs" I added ISBN's of books "''Linear Algebra for Everyone" and "Linear Algebra and Learning from Data".'' Somehow the word "ISBN" is also coming under the hyperlink.
::'''Question''': Am I allowed to put ISBN's for the other books as well?
::Disclosure: I have been working with Prof. Strang for the past 18 years, chiefly as a mathematical typesetter for his books.
::Thank you for your advice. Acjf (talk) 14:16, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
:::If you are working with the subject, then you have a conflict of interest ↗ and should not be editing the article directly at all, but rather by means of edit requests ↗ on the talk page. In any case, you must declare your conflict of interest for transparency. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:03, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
:::On the ISBN front, you can make the letters ISBN not get linked by adding {{para|link|no}} to the ISBN template, e.g. <code><nowiki>{{ISBN|978-1-7331466-7-8|link=no}}</nowiki></code> to the ISBN template. I think you can safely do that yourself, without having to go the edit request route. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:08, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
:::On the courses front - and I get that they are free - the questions you need to ask yourself are:
:::* Does the addition of those external links improve the article for the reader?
:::* Does the addition of those external links promote the subject in a way that is not permitted, e.g. by violating WP:NOTPROMO ↗?
:::In this case, I would say that you are pushing the envelope of WP:NOTPROMO ↗ and I suggest that you remove that information, and instead make an edit request for its inclusion on the article talk page. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:13, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

GEOLAND

Thanks for your most recent, very sensible, suggestion, which I hope will find acceptance. Anyway, good luck! Ingratis (talk) 09:29, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

:Well, there is always that! I am resigned to the fact that there will always be battles over sourcing, but anything that makes GEOLAND a little better, more global, and not Anglo-centric is worth pursuing, I think. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 09:41, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

Just curious as to why there are so many pages without photos?
Look forward to hearing from you --Yoshibabygirl (talk) 04:39, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @Yoshibabygirl, I've dropped some links on your talk page. I suggest that you start by trying some of the "Suggested edits" that are linked on your talk page, or take a look at various tasks ↗ you could try. In terms of photos, I guess many topics just don't have suitable photos to use at the moment. One of the key things with pictures is that you must respect copyright, so it's not allowed to just find a picture on the Internet and re-use it here. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:49, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
::how would someone find out if a photo is copyrighted or not? I'm assuming that the ones that have 'shutterstock' etc. written across them are copyrighted.

how do i create wikipedida? I wanna work on someone that has been going through. i can explain who are they. --Hello.maggot 099 (talk) 09:04, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

:Before you get into writing new articles, I'd strongly recommend that you get some experience of just making edits to existing pages first: take a look at the suggested tasks page ↗.
:* Use draftspace ↗ or your sandbox ↗ to draft your article, rather than create it first off in mainspace. That will allow you to take your time. When it's ready, just move it to mainspace.

Pevsner

Hi! I saw your request at WP:RX ↗. Most public libraries in major cities/county towns have the local Pevsner and a few others, but I believe {{u|KJP1}} has a complete set and is sometimes willing to look up entries for editors. Best, <b style="color: teal; font-family: Tahoma">HJ&nbsp;Mitchell</b> &#124; <span style="color: navy; font-family: Times New Roman" title="(Talk page)">Penny for your thoughts?</span> 14:59, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @HJ Mitchell - thank you for that! I discovered that the library in the next town over does seem to have a reasonably complete set (my local village library doesn't), so I can use that when I'm next there. As the article in question got redirected at AfD, the immediate need has gone, but I'll bear KJP1's personal library in mind next time. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:08, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

:::For completeness, the entry is very slim indeed; “The mid-17th century Abnash House was altered in the later 18th century”.{{sfn|Verey|Brooks|2000|p=217}} I understand the approach that says Grade II listeds are inherently notable, but for me the coverage is often too slight. You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard

Hi, SunloungerFrog. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard ↗! I think we've maybe interacted before, barely, in connection with Mentorship, but mostly I get the impression that we mentors are each in our own cubbyhole or hamster wheel, as the case may be, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to learn from each other, and I know it will make me feel better just having the opportunity to interact with you and other mentors there, and I hope it will for you, too. Look forward to seeing you there! Mathglot (talk) 08:29, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

Phytocoenologia 1977 again

Hi SunloungerFrog,

thanks again for your help in de Resource Exchange with my question for an article in Band 4 Heft 3 (1977):
doi:10.1127/phyto/4/1977/258

De Smidt, J.T. - Heathland vegetation in the Netherlands

https://www.schweizerbart.de/papers/phyto/detail/4/82102/Heathland_vegetation_in_the_Netherlands

Now that I'm working again on the bibliography of De Smidt I see that I had found your link already. But.....
It is connected to a different journal. See: https://repository.naturalis.nl/pub/534943

What I want to know is whether this is '''exactly''' the same text or not. When I look at the first page, it is the same, indeed. But what about the rest. So at second thought I still want to have a look at the Phytocoenologia article. Shall I again ask in the Resource Exchange or do you perhaps have access in some way? Thanks again for your help. Many greetings from the Netherlands, --Dick Bos (talk) 14:00, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

:I'm afraid I don't have access to ''Phytocoenologia''. I did note that it was a different journal, but it looks like the page numbers are the same too, as are the font and typesetting, which led me to believe with some degree of certainty that it was the same article. I'd be interested to know how you get on at WP:RX. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:24, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Detroit Windsor Tunnel (21:28, 7 July 2026)

I haven't done this before, but as the Detroit Windsor tunnel assigned person to do this I thought I would reach out. Any suggestion or thought are appreciated. I haven't drafted anything yet. However I can say that the Overview section is not correct and the note 3 doesn't support what is said. How do I know? I wrote that page too. anyways this is the section. Just looking to improve The tunnel has three main levels. The bottom level brings in fresh air under pressure, which is forced into the mid level, where the traffic lanes are located. The ventilation system forces vehicle exhaust into the third level, which is then vented at each end of the tunnel.[3] --Detroit Windsor Tunnel (talk) 21:28, 7 July 2026 (UTC)

:I guess that you are talking about the article Detroit–Windsor Tunnel ↗, and that you work for the company that runs it, or something like that? In which case, two things: first, you need to change your username, because you're not allowed a promotional username: see {{slink|Wikipedia:Username_policy#Promotional_usernames}}. Just change ↗ it to something that is not at all affiliated with the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Second, can you confirm exactly how you're connected to the tunnel or the company that runs it, and then I can best advise about how to get the edits you want made. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 21:36, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
