Re: China/Japan tornadoes

Hey there, so for both countries, I think it's better to go chronological, even with there being potentially thousands. The US gets about a thousand per year, so the US has tornado lists by months, in some cases. There might not be great sourcing for the thousands of events in each country, and starting from scratch will take a while to get them all, but better to get them started. And absolutely, yes include etymology. As well as climatology if you can find it. Good luck on the important projects! ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 23:56, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

First off, please never apologize for bothering anyone ever again on this website! :P This is a volunteer project, where everyone is free to either ignore things if they don't it, or, ideally, they engage in conversation productively. So let's go with option two ^_^ You bring up a good point about how we track events each year. The yearly approach by area is how it's done in South America and Europe, and it would also fit nicely under Tornadoes_of_2026#Events ↗, where it lists these areas, Canada, and the US. I like this approach, it's a great idea.

If you need help setting it up, you should bring it up to either the Asia ↗ or severe weather ↗ projects. On the subject, right now, we have List of Asian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks ↗. I think that should ideally be split up into individual lists for every country. This would be a similar structure to other areas.

As for China and Japan, get them into drafts so you can publish them, so other people can start to help organize and finish them! Just saying, collaborating makes things a lot easier. Cheers and thanks for reaching out. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 20:59, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

:Noted, thank you so much! Hopefully in the future, these articles are ready for mainspace. ^-^ Tarou-Rai (talk) 08:39, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
::Well, that's where you and I have different definitions of articles being ready. Articles can be published if they are incomplete, as long as everything in the article is sourced. You can even include a template in the article indicating what areas are incomplete. For example, the Draft:List of China tornadoes ↗ is already pretty long. You should make some kind of dummy edit ↗ to indicate you copied the information from the Asia tornado parent article, but I think it can be published basically as-is. People might be more likely to help edit the List of China tornadoes ↗ article, especially if linked from other China articles, than adding to the rather long List of Asian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks ↗. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 18:14, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
:::Ohhh I see I see. I suppose adding dynamic list templates would do. After finishing up with climatology and etymology parts, I could use WP:RIA-COPY ↗ for the list of tornadoes itself. Considering that tornadic activity around these part of the year is at its peak in Asia, specifically June to September, those articles such as List of China tornadoes ↗ and List of Japan tornadoes ↗ are very-well needed. Thank you for the heads up! :D Tarou-Rai (talk) 23:17, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
::::Yea those are absolutely needed, both for being so populated, and with how often they occur. I agree the need for climatology and etymology sections as well. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 01:54, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

Update - I decided to publish the list, after the recent tornado. I also added some climatology stuff. Thanks for working on the list! ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 18:49, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
