Greetings from the North,
I saw that you had rsvp'd to the Wiki Loves Pride event in June. Who might I talk to about hosting a mini editathon during the Information Architecture Summit, May 5-8 in Atlanta? (iasummit.org). I am a member of the NYC Wikimedia group and have been accepted to host an editathon and introduction to Wikipedia editing activity as part of the conference game night, which is usually held on Saturday night. I would love to invite Wikipedia Atlanta members to participate as facilitators. I did an introduction to Wikipedia at this event last year in Minneapolis and was happy to get assistance from three local Wikipedians.
There is a possibility of an offsite meeting that is being arranged by attendees who had considered boycotting the event due to recent anti-LGBT legislation but felt a better idea might be to host an open discussion of inclusiveness and diversity. An editathon might be a good complement. I had seen the plans for a Wiki Loves Pride event in Atlanta in June so it could be a nice lead up to that activity: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiki_Loves_Pride_2016/Atlanta
Please let me know if you are interested and I can forward additional details. Looking forward to my Atlanta visit! <small><span class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by Nwhysel (talk • contribs ↗) 12:20, 15 April 2016 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Gilbert Baker
Hi there. I just came across your Gilbert Baker page, and I noticed that the content for it came almost directly from http://www.keywestcityofcolors.com/press/press_Gilbert.html. I looked around the site and couldn't find any information regarding it, but this might constitute a copyright violation. Instead of sending it to Wikipedia: Copyright problems ↗ where copyright violations go to die, I thought I'd appeal to you first to see if you wanted to fix it up and make it a bit more original. Let me know here or on the article talk page ↗ where I've copied this same comment. This is somebody I've never heard of, but I'd be interested in helping if you wanted. But I'll wait to hear from you. NymphadoraTonks 29 June 2005 04:36 (UTC)
:Still not sure if this needs changing? tdempsey 03:03, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Cat:Gay Wikipedians ↗
I just recently formed Cat:Gay Wikipedians ↗; before that I was put in Cat:LGBT Wikipedians ↗ after it was decided to eliminate the original Cat:Queer Wikipedians ↗ (which someone else started up again). I started the new category because I'm gay, not "LGBT". I'm hoping other gay Wikipedians will join the category in the future. --Angr (t·c ↗) 05:15, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
:Why? Why do we all have to belong to the same category? I have nothing in common with transsexuals and little in common with lesbians and bisexuals. It's like grouping Cat:Buddhist Wikipedians ↗, Cat:Hindu Wikipedians ↗, Cat:Jewish Wikipedians ↗, Cat:Muslim Wikipedians ↗, etc. into Cat:Non-Christian Wikipedians ↗. --Angr (t·c ↗) 06:02, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
::Good point - and I don't want a pissing match. I can agree to a Cat:Gay Wikipedians ↗ as a sub-category to Cat:LGBT Wikipedians ↗ and would hope you use both tags. I'm not for being so separate since there is much overlap in all the communities. Of course, there is specific information to communities, too.
::But to have <b>one</b> person in a category? I would be interested in seeing how many people use it.
::tdempsey 16:28, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
:::The point of subcategories is to be included only in the hierarchically lowest appropriate one. Ideally, IMO, :Category:LGBT Wikipedians ↗ would have hardly any user pages in it at all, just four subcategories :Category:Lesbian Wikipedians ↗, :Category:Gay Wikipedians ↗, :Category:Bisexual Wikipedians ↗, and :Category:Transsexual and transgendered Wikipedians ↗ (or the like). Anyone in the upper category would be there because they couldn't decide which lower cat they wanted to be in, or didn't like to say. As for being the only one in it, keep in mind, :Category:Gay Wikipedians ↗ is only six days old, it takes time before people notice new categories and decide to add themselves to them. When I added :Category:Anglican and Episcopalian Wikipedians ↗ in September I was the only one in it for almost four weeks; now it has twelve people. --Angr (t·c ↗) 19:23, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
::::I think you are missing the point. The purpose of :Category:LGBT Wikipedians ↗ is to list people working on :Category:LGBT ↗ and its sub-categories - the standard agreed upon on this website. I am a gay man and would not join :Category:Gay Wikipedians ↗ since it is not descriptive or inclusive for our purposes. -- tdempsey 23:51, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
:::::I don't think that's the point of :Category:LGBT Wikipedians ↗ at all. I think it's just a way for Wikipedians who consider themselves lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transsexual to identify themselves as such; it's no different from the categories of Wikipedians by location ↗, religion ↗, politics ↗, profession ↗, or any of the other subcategories of :Category:Wikipedians ↗. I'm not working on :Category:LGBT ↗ or its subcategories, nor am I listed at Wikipedia:LGBT notice board#Active Wikipedians interested in LGBT issues ↗. I'm just a gay Wikipedian ↗. --Angr (t·c ↗) 10:23, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
LGBT-activist-stub
I just noticed that you added both LGBT-stub and activist-stub to the Joe Solmonese article yesterday and I wished to make you aware that there is a recently created stub {{tl|LGBT-activist-stub}} for activists who specialise in this one area of activism. <span style="font-family:cursive">Caerwine</span> <small style="font-family:sans-serif;color:darkred;">Caerwhine</small> ↗ 04:06, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
:Thanks! I recently asked a question about this and you cleared it up. - tdempsey 04:09, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Categorizing
Hi there...just a couple of comments about some recent categorization you've done:
# Wikipedia actually has a pretty explicit rule against filing articles in categories and subcategories of the first category at the same time; what this means is that if an article is already filed in :Category:LGBT media ↗ or :Category:Transgender and transsexual people ↗, then it ''can't'' also be filed in the general :Category:LGBT ↗.
# Pipetext after the category name is actually a ''filing'' scheme; you should only use a pipe followed by a space when you're applying the category to the absolute topmost defines-what-the-category-is article. So for :Category:LGBT ↗, the only article that should have <nowiki> ↗</nowiki> on it is LGBT ↗ itself. Everything else should have either the category name with no pipetext at all if the appropriate filing letter is the first letter of the article title, or pipetext that defines how the article should be sorted alphabetically (e.g. <nowiki>Araujo, Gwen ↗</nowiki> or <nowiki>Body Politic, The ↗</nowiki>) if the appropriate filing letter ''isn't'' the first letter of the article title.
Hope that helps a bit... Bearcat 02:14, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
:Thanks, Bearcat!
:
:I appreciate the tip. I am trying to get much more involved with Wikipedia and the LGBT category - and I was trying to figure out some of the finer points of categorizing. Let me know how I can be better in this area.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mforeman2004.jpg
Thanks for uploading ''':Image:Mforeman2004.jpg ↗'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content ↗ carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline ↗ is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion ↗. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you.<!-- Template:No fair -->BetacommandBot (talk) 00:46, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Logo ncod lg.gif
Thank you for uploading ''':Image:Logo ncod lg.gif ↗'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content ↗. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline ↗ is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag ↗; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by an adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you.<!-- Template:No fair --> Cavenba <small>(talk • contribs ↗)</small> 00:58, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
:Gulf Coast TIDE ↗
left|40px ↗
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of :Gulf Coast TIDE ↗, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://gctide.org/about.php. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 19:39, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
:: The text in question is "Brand Statement & Mission Statement" from the Gulf Coast TIDE website. I am a board member of GCT and have permission to use the text and logo.
Speedy deletion of :Gulf Coast TIDE ↗
48px|left ↗ A tag has been placed on :Gulf Coast TIDE ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright ↗ infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of ''information'', but not as a source of ''sentences''. This part is crucial: ''say it in your own words''.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include ''on the external site'' the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License ↗, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗ for more details, or ask a question here ↗.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>{{tl|hangon}}</code> to '''the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion ↗''' (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on '''the talk page ↗''' explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for ''speedy'' deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. <!-- Template:Db-copyvio-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> - <span style="font-family:Hobo Std; font-size:12px; ">'''<span style="color:#082567">Toon</span>''''''<span style="color:#082567">05</span>'''</span> 18:19, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Solmonese_Joe72.jpg
32px|left|Replaceable fair use ↗
Thanks for uploading ''':Image:Solmonese_Joe72.jpg ↗'''. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use ↗, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion ↗ in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
# Go to the media description page ↗ and edit it to add {{tlx|di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, '''without deleting the original replaceable fair use template'''.
# On the image discussion page ↗, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license ↗, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions|target={{PAGENAMEE}}&namespace=6}} this link]</span>. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July ↗ 2006 ↗), per our non-free content policy ↗. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page ↗. LGBT Studies covers people, culture, history, and related subjects concerning sexual identity ↗ and gender identity ↗ - this covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated! Some points that may be helpful:
- Our main aim is to help improve articles, so if someone seeks help, please try to assist if you are able. Likewise feel free to ask for help, advice or clarification.
- Many important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page ↗; it is highly recommended that you [{{SERVER}}{{localurl:Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies|action=watch}} watchlist it].
- If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section ↗, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
- The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment ↗, peer review ↗ and a project-wide article collaboration ↗, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass ↗, so please consider signing up there.
- If you're going to stay awhile, please create a square in our project quilt ↗! You can put anything you want in it.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page ↗, and we will be happy to help you.
And once again - Welcome!

Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages ↗ and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts ↗ by typing four tilde ↗s ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Image:Signature_icon.png ↗ located above the edit window. ;<u>Stonewall riots ↗</u>
;How do you change the world? You can start by writing an incredible article for the world's encyclopedia. Moni3 kicks it old school again with Stonewall riots ↗ - ''a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn ↗. [...] [T]hey have become the defining event that marked the start of the gay rights movement ↗ in the United States and around the world.'' It's a featured article hitting the mainpage this Sunday to mark the 40th anniversary of the events. So first off, wow! Clever and cool. Moni3 has been recently named hottest delegate to Obama's bookclub but that may not be official yet. (Shhh!)
Otto4711 mentioned that gee we really should swamp the DYK section with LGBT-related articles for use on the 28th as well. We have eight or so in the holding area ↗ and if you push yourself to get an article together you might be able to get in on the fun. <big>'''Do this now!'''</big>
The official rules for DYKs can be found here ↗. Once you have expanded an article 5-fold or created an article with at least 1,500 characters of prose, place your DYK thread here ↗. Use this ↗ handy tool to count your 1,500 characters. As a suggestion, when you add your potential hook, include the character count and a link to the source(s) that confirm the hook. These will be confirmed anyway but may help.
;<u>Trans quotes needed for Portal:Transgender ↗</u>
The layout for the individual quotes is here ↗ (just copy/paste into one of the red links on Portal:Transgender/Random quote ↗). Then this counter ↗ has to be upped to match the new # of total quotes (not counting quote zero).
;<u>Obama proclamation</u>
On June 1, President Barack Obama declared ↗ June 2009 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, citing the riots as a reason to "commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBT Americans". Excerpts at the bottom.
;<u>F*ck me I'm famous</u>
I was interviewed by ''Wikipedia Signpost'', the weekly in-house newsletter, for the WikiProject report ↗. The ''Signpost'' has nearly 1,000 Wikipedian subscribers and arguably many of those folks actually read it. It came about rather quickly and my worst fears - that it was an elaborate hoax by a troll - were apparently unfounded. I hope y'all feel I did fine by the project, I did my best to avoid the phrase "man-humping, cock-sucking, doggy-style loving queer" but otherwise did ok.
;<u>Free image appeal</u>
A friendly reminder to consider taking photos while you're out and about ↗ at various Dyke march ↗es and Pride parade ↗s. Consider donating them to the world at Wikicommons ↗. I'm sooo totally over having to deal with lovely images being deleted and argued about. If they are just free they are then also freely usable worldwide. And no, they don't need photos of your cha-cha ↗ or hoo-hoo-dilly ↗.
;<u>Chaz Bono ↗</u>
Sonny and Cher ↗'s daughter was a famous lesbian and now he's a famous transman ↗, possibly the most famous in the world. This also serves as a friendly reminder that we recently updated Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Guidelines ↗ - it's not perfect but should help inform on those gnip-gnop battles that do seem to drag on, and not in the good way ↗.
;<u>R U Popular?</u>
Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Popular pages ↗ is a new handy place to see which LGBT-tagged pages are the most popular in any given month.
;<u>Article alerts</u>
As part of the redecorating at our talkpage ↗, the article alerts and keyword search alerts are handily located at the top of the page. Always fascinating to see what's up. All help appreciated on those.
;<u>Glambert</u>
Adam Lambert ↗ is soooo gay - surprised? Neither is anyone else. Nuff said. David Ogden Stiers ↗ was outed ↗ but apparently he wasn't terribly in either.
;<u>Community Quilt reminder</u>
Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Quilt ↗ - update it and add yourself!
;<u>Our own little IRC home</u>
The LGBT studies project does have its own free Internet Relay Chat ↗ channel, {{IRC|wikipedia-en-lgbt}}, for coordination, collaboration and socializing. This channel is hosted on Freenode ↗ and can be accessed in one of two ways: If you already have an IRC client ↗, click the link to the left. If you do not have an IRC client, you'll need to get one installed on your computer first. Once you've done this, then click on the link to the left.
For more general information on IRC and a listing of other useful Wikipedia-related channels, see Wikipedia:IRC channels ↗.
The project had at one point another channel at {{IRC|LGBTproject}} but as the original people associated with the setting up and administration of that channel have seemed to have disappeared, this new channel has been set up. Plus the new channel is inline with required naming conventions for Wikipedia related IRC channels. So, feel free to use this channel. Such a channel gives opportunity to discuss the latest happening on articles, the LGBT project itself, latest happening in your life with "wiki-friends" here, etc.. You can say things on there you normally wouldn't here on Wikipedia (keeping it civil of course) like talk about the latest hot guy/girl or tell a joke.. you get the point. Anyway, see you there - eventually!
;<u>LGBT to-do list (held over from last edition)</u>
- Give out more '''barnstar ↗s''', and let each other know that what they're doing is valued.
- Create a guide to '''stave off burnout''', because editors in this project get burned out faster than others. There are many hills to climb.
- Bring back the '''monthly collaboration project'''.
- Participate in LGBT '''Peer reviews'''.
- Get familiar with the characteristics of '''Good Articles''' and get our top priority articles to WP:GA ↗.
- Keep our project page ↗ and open tasks template ↗ '''updated'''.

- Keep the '''project talk page ↗ informed of problems''' and discussions we should know about.

Wiki Loves Pride 2014
Hi Tdempsey. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See '''Wiki Loves Pride 2014 ↗''' for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on :Bubba Dee ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help ↗ or reference ↗ desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub ↗ for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable ↗ subjects and should provide references to reliable sources ↗ that verify ↗ their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here ↗. <!-- Template:Db-nocontent-notice -->
More of the same …
A number of pages with ''no content'' were published to the public Wikipedia article namespace. It's usually a much better idea to develop an article elsewhere on Wikipedia, perhaps in the draft or user namespaces, before making it part of the public face of the encyclopedia. (See WP:Drafts ↗ and WP:HUD ↗. Each article can still be a collective project, with multiple contributors, in such workspaces.) These have been nominated for speedy deletion under category A3 ↗:
- AID Atlanta ↗
- Bubba Dee ↗
- Charis Books and More ↗
- CHRIS Kids ↗
- Church Without Walls ↗
- Congregation Bet Haverim ↗
- Cruise Magazine ↗
- Emory Hope Clinic ↗
- ETC Magazine ↗
- For the Kid in All of Us ↗
- Fourth Tuesday ↗
- Georgia LGBTQ Archives Project ↗
- Georgia Log Cabin Republicans ↗
- GLAAD Atlanta ↗
- HRC Atlanta ↗
- Jerusalem House ↗
- MEGA Family Project ↗
- Outwrite Books & More ↗
- Pets Are Loving Support ↗
- Phillip Rush Center ↗
- Positive Impact ↗
- Project Q Atlanta ↗
- Touching Up Our Roots ↗
- YouthPride ↗
I'm guessing that these are part of the upcoming edit-a-thon for Wiki Loves Pride 2014 ↗, which certainly looks like a Good Thing — this just wasn't the best way to start those articles.

Replaceable fair use File:Jamie Thomas King.jpg
32px|left ↗
Thanks for uploading ''':File:Jamie Thomas King.jpg ↗'''. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use ↗. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion ↗. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have ''no free equivalent''; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
# Go to the file description page ↗ and add the text <code><nowiki>{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}</nowiki></code> '''below''' the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <code><your reason></code> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
# On the file discussion page ↗, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license ↗, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions|target=Tdempsey&namespace=6}} this link]</span>. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:di-replaceable fair use-notice --> <span style="color:navy;">January</span> <small>(<span style="color:navy;">talk</span>)</small> 15:53, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Re: Wiki Loves Pride 2016
Thank you RachelWex for a great Minnesota Wiki Loves Pride page. I modeled the Atlanta page after it. I was wondering if you had any training materials for workshops. I plan to do two - June for the traditional month and October for Atlanta's Pride. Cheers! tdempsey (talk) 19:37, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

Working session on architecting the information of Georgia House Bill 757
Hi Tdempsey, I am organizing a mini editathon as part of the Information Architecture Summit to be held May 4-8 at the Atlanta Omni Hotel. One of the hosting organizations, the Information Architecture Institute (iainstitute.org) is doing a special working session at the Center for Civil and Human Rights on Saturday evening, May 7 on architecting the information of Georgia House Bill 757. I offered to facilitate a Wikipedia editathon for this event and could incorporate a lesson on finding and using wikidata to research local legislation, and am reaching out to local Wikipedians to invite participation. It seems it would be a good lead in activity to the Atlanta Wiki Loves Pride event in June. Is this something you would be interested in? Wiki Loves Pride 2016
As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies ↗, you are invited to participate in the third annual '''Wiki Loves Pride ↗''' campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT ↗ culture and history. How can you help?
:# Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work '''here ↗'''
:# Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
:# Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project ('''Wikidata ↗''', '''Wikimedia Commons ↗''', '''Wikivoyage ↗''', etc ↗.)
Looking for topics? The '''Tasks ↗''' page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.
This campaign is supported by the '''Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group ↗''', an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation ↗. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow '''Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook ↗'''. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view ↗. One does ''not'' need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page ↗.

A tag has been placed on :Ancestors of Thomas Dibble Dempsey ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate ↗ how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable ↗.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the {{Querylink|Special:Log|qs=type=delete&page=Ancestors+of+Thomas+Dibble+Dempsey|deleting administrator}}. <!-- Template:Db-notability-notice --><!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> Robert McClenon (talk) 02:26, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group ↗ is holding online working days in May. As a member of WikiProject LGBT studies ↗, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.
We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, ''':Contents/Portals ↗'''. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – ''':Wikipedia:Contents/Portals ↗'''. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at :Wikipedia:Contents/Portals ↗. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page ↗.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the {{Querylink|Special:Log|qs=type=delete&page=Contents%2FPortals|deleting administrator}}, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here ↗. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process ↗ and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia.
