:Hello Morrison Man, I was wondering why you reverted the update I made to Stegosaurus temporal range (Late Jurassic 155 - 145 Mya to Late Jurassic - Early Cretaceous 155 - 120 Mya) They were legitimate edits based on the fact that the stegosaur remains in the Aptian Strata of China were confirmed to be Stegosaurus. I have legitimate sources to back this up if citations are all you want. Dariru22 (talk) 10:50, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
::It would be nice if you could add the source when you make an edit, that way it doesn't get reverted. Currently the page also already points towards an extension into the Cretaceous being possible, but I believe not a lot of other authors have commented on Chinese ''Stegosaurus sp.''. The Morrison Man (talk) 16:30, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
Dinodata links
Since the dinodata website is no more, what should we do about links that cite it?--Bubblesorg (talk) 12:52, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
:If the website cannot be found, the links will probably need to be replaced with another source for the same thing. Could you provide me with the url of the website? Maybe it's available on the wayback machine. TimTheDragonRider (talk) 13:48, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

The WikiCup
Thank you for your offer to help judging the WikiCup, but I'm not sure that you have enough experience in Wikipedia and the bringing of articles to FA, GA and DYK standards. Can I suggest that you take part in the 2024 WikiCup so as to get a better idea of how it works and what it entails. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:30, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
:Inadequate experience was one of the factors that I only considered after leaving a message, might've rushed into that a little bit. In any case, thanks for taking the time to leave a message and for the suggestion. Hopefully I'll have the time to participate in the 2024 cup. The Morrison Man (talk) 10:42, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
''Bentiabasaurus ↗''
Hey, I noticed you created a page for the new mosasaur taxon. I appreciate that you added a source, but can you please provide a link to it? I tried searching for the provided source online but only get results from Wikipedia. A link is appreciated because it helps with verifying ↗ that taxon is real and not just a hoax. Thank you. Miracusaurs (talk) 01:13, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
:I have myself only been provided with a PDF of the paper, hence why there is no link. I do have confirmation that the volume it comes from exists, if required. If that is not adequate proof of validity the page might be better off removed for now. The Morrison Man (talk) 08:31, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
::The page can stay. I’ve found a link to the paper online (unfortunately, only after I’ve made this post) Miracusaurs (talk) 09:39, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 May newsletter
The second round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 April. This round was particularly competitive: each of the 32 contestants who advanced to Round 3 scored at least 141 points. This is the highest number of points required to advance to Round 3 since 2014.
The following scorers in Round 2 all scored more than 500 points:
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Sammi Brie}} with 707 points, mostly from 45 good article nomination ↗ reviews and 12 good articles ↗s about radio and television;
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Generalissima}} with 600 points, mostly from 12 good articles and 12 did you know ↗ nominations about coinage and history;
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|SounderBruce}} with 552 points, mostly from a featured article ↗ about the 2020 Seattle Sounders FC season ↗, three featured lists ↗, and two good articles;
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|BennyOnTheLoose}} with 548 points, mostly from a featured article about the snooker player John Pulman ↗, two featured lists, and one good article;
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|voorts}} with 530 points, mostly from two featured articles (Well he would, wouldn't he? ↗ and Cora Agnes Benneson ↗) and three good articles.
The full scores for Round 2 can be seen here ↗. So far this year, competitors have gotten 18 featured articles, 22 featured lists, and 186 good articles, 76 in the news ↗ credits and at least 200 did you know ↗ credits. They have conducted 165 featured article reviews, as well as 399 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 21 articles to featured topics ↗ and good topics ↗.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed during Round 3, which starts on 1 May at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed ↗.
If you would like to learn more about rules and scoring for the 2024 WikiCup, please see this page ↗. Further questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup ↗ and the judges ({{User|Cwmhiraeth}}, {{User|Epicgenius}}, and {{User|Frostly}}) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send ↗. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:38, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

- The newsletter will not be returning to a monthly format (mainly because the author is busy failing every exam imaginable) and is on a bimonthly schedule for the foreseeable future.
- The second round of the WikiCup was very competitive, requiring the highest points total to advance since 2014. Two TOL editors, {{noping|AryKun}} and {{noping|Fritzmann2002}}, advanced to the third round.
- The March edition of our monthly rolling contest ↗ was won by {{noping|simongraham}}, who amassed 118 points from 21 articles on various species of jumping spider; in second place was {{noping|Quetzal1964}} with 109 points from 53 articles on marine ray-finned fish.
- Quetzal1964 and simongraham were also the top two in the April edition, although Quetzal was ahead this time, with 68 points to simongraham's 48. In the annual leaderboard, Quetzal and simongraham are in first and second place respectively, with 291 and 246 points; in third place is {{noping|Snotoleks}}, with 76 points.

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found '''here ↗'''. If you have not yet signed up, you can '''add your name here ↗''' and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page ↗.
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes ↗ to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points ↗ at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: {{User4|Cwmhiraeth}}, {{User4|Epicgenius}}, {{User4|Frostly}}, {{User4|Guerillero}} and {{User4|Lee Vilenski}}. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send ↗. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:14, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter
The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points ↗ at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table ↗, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table ↗ shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.
Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Gog the Mild}} with 1,168 round points, mainly from 4 featured articles ↗ and 4 good articles ↗ on old military history, in addition to an assortment of GA and FA reviews.
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Generalissima}} with 1,095 round points, mainly from 2 FAs, 2 featured lists ↗, 8 GAs, and 16 Did You Know ↗ articles mainly on historical topics.
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|BeanieFan11}}, with 866 round points from 20 GAs, 23 DYKs, and 2 In the News ↗ articles primarily about athletes.
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Sammi Brie}}, with 846 round points from 16 GAs about radio and TV stations, 45 GA reviews, and 3 DYKs.
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Hey man im josh}}, with 816 round points from 5 FLs about sports and Olympic topics, 46 FL reviews, 3 ITN articles, and a large number of bonus points.
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|MaranoFan}}, with 815 round points primarily from 3 FAs and 1 GA about music, in addition to 9 article reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here ↗. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup ↗, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send ↗. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:13, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

Meraxes
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Romulus,_Remus,_and_Khaleesi&diff=prev&oldid=1284489029 ↗ That is a cool thing, thanks! But actually, Meraxes is also mentioned in the TV series, by Arya (talking to Tywin at Harrenhal) in the "what happened" - "Dragons" - "Yes, dragons happened" sequence when she told him who rode which dragon. So, same situation as with Khaleesi appearing in the books and the TV series, although, as you said, it does not matter. --Hob Gadling (talk) 07:28, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
:I'd say the situation is still a bit different, with Meraxes only being mentioned by name once and Daenerys being referred to as Khaleesi throughout most of the show. I'll be honest, I'd forgotten Arya even mentioned the dragon! The Morrison Man (talk) 16:15, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter
The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points ↗ at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table ↗ shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.
Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|BeanieFan11}} with 1,233 round points from 24 good articles ↗, 28 Did you know ↗ articles, and one In the news ↗ nomination, mainly about athletes and politicians
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Thebiguglyalien}} with 1,127 round points, almost entirely from two high-multiplier featured articles ↗ on Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) ↗ and Grace Coolidge ↗, in addition to two GAs and two reviews
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|History6042}} with 1,088 round points from four featured lists ↗ about Michelin-starred restaurants, nine good articles and a good topic ↗ mostly on Olympic-related subjects, seven ITN articles, and dozens of reviews
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Gog the Mild}} with 1,085 round points from three FAs, one GA, and four DYKs on military history, as well as 18 reviews
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Arconning}} with 887 round points, mostly from four FLs, six GAs, and seven DYKs on Olympic topics, along with more than two dozen reviews
In addition, we would like to recognize {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Generalissima}} for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.
The full scores for round 2 can be seen here ↗. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup ↗, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Welcome to the 2026 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2026 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found '''here ↗'''. If you have not yet signed up, you can '''add your name here ↗''', and a bot will set up your submissions page within one day, ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page ↗.
For the 2026 WikiCup, the highest-ranking contestants will receive tournament points ↗ at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. This is the same scoring system that we had last year. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants are no longer eliminated at the end of each round.
MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

WikiCup 2026 March newsletter
The first round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As some of you may have noticed, good article nomination reviews ↗ now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP ↗. This point increase has been retroactively applied to all good article reviews for which competitors have claimed points in this round. Peer reviews ↗, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews ↗, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 1 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 300 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant17|Bgsu98}} with 1,467 round points, largely gained from 1 featured article ↗, 5 featured lists ↗, 15 good articles ↗, and 42 FAC and GAN reviews;
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant17|Olliefant}} with 1,246 round points, largely from 4 featured lists, 9 good articles, 2 featured topic ↗ articles, 4 did you know ↗ articles, and 75 FAC and GAN reviews;
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant17|Generalissima}} with 1,095 round points, largely from 3 featured articles, 6 good articles, and 5 did you know articles;
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant17|MCE89}} with 848 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 32 FAC and GAN reviews; and
- {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant17|Rollinginhisgrave}} with 838 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 14 FAC, GAN, and peer reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here ↗. During this round, contestants have claimed 7 featured articles, 16 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 168 good articles, 13 good-topic articles and more than 50 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 14 In the News ↗ articles, and they have conducted nearly 700 reviews. The tournament points table ↗ will be updated within the next few days.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup ↗, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages.
