Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Man of Africa film frame (1953).png
64px|left|alt=|link= ↗
Thank you for uploading ''':File:Man of Africa film frame (1953).png ↗'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content ↗. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline ↗ is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag ↗; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you.<!-- Template:Di-disputed fair use rationale-notice --> Whpq (talk) 15:16, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions to Stop Exchange ↗. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because '''it needs more sources to establish notability'''.
I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Opening sentence
MOS:LEAD ↗ says, "{{tq|Do not overload the first sentence by describing everything notable about the subject ... Avoid cluttering the first sentence with a long parenthesis containing alternative spellings, pronunciations, etc., which can make the sentence difficult to actually read; this information should be placed elsewhere.}}" Although it is common to include alternative names, people don't need to know incredibly obvious things like "it's also sometimes referred to without a definite article". As the MOS once again says, "{{tq|Use the first sentence of the article to provide relevant information that is not already given by the title of the article.}}" Thus, you don't need to tell people things that are already in the title. If the title is "Zebra Farm" in the US and "Crazy Horses" in the UK, that should be mentioned. One of them isn't going to be in the title, and people may be confused if they end up at an article with a different title than they searched for. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:09, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
Coordinates
I notice you have added extremely long decimal coordinates to a number of articles. Google Maps has taken to providing 16-digit coordinates in what is believed to be a copyright trap ↗ scheme. That level of precision is in the 1/100th of a micrometer range. WP:OPCOORD ↗ and MOS:COORDS ↗ calls for rounding or truncating coordinates (tldr: use DD°MM'SS" or D.dddd° for everything). Reelstreets.com
I see you've been adding links to this website. Do you have any connection to it? I can't really imagine that anyone besides you has ever heard of it. There's almost nothing on Google about it, unlike the IMDb, which is discussed regularly in reliable sources. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:32, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
:No, I have no connection whatseover with ReelStreets. While it is an "unreliable source" in the IMDB sense, IMHO its informatiion is good, and I think it adds value to film articles and makes the article better. It is self-published and so ineligible as a source, so I list it as an External Link. As for being only known by me, I don't think that's the case. It has been in existemce since 2003 and I would say it is fairly well-known by UK film enthusiasts, and it has been mentioned in programmes on the UK film TV channel Talking Pictures TV ↗. Tobyhoward (talk) 06:37, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
:: I'm really considering blocking you for spamming this website. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:00, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
:::Would you please explain what you believe is the issue? I am a serious editor and I act in good faith. I have absolutely no desire to do anything contrary to WP policy. Tobyhoward (talk) 05:48, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
:::: Please see WP:NOBLOGS ↗. I have no idea why you're adding hundreds of links to this website. I count over 40 links to this website in the past week alone, and at least 100 links the previous week. This is a concentrated attempt to put the website in as many articles as you possibly can as quickly as you can – in other words, spamming. If I had evidence that you were being paid to do this, you'd already be blocked. I don't have any except for your industriousness, which isn't exactly unheard of on Wikipedia.<p> However, this industriousness should be put to some other use than promoting a niche blog. I just did a Google search on {{kbd|"Reelstreets"}}, and there are only two pages of results, most of which are Reelstreet's website and its social media accounts. {{kbd|"Reelstreeets" site:variety.com}} gets no hits at all, whereas the same search with the IMDb ↗, Rotten Tomatoes ↗, the British Film Institute ↗, and other common external links get endless results (after 20 pages, each are still going). Once Reelstreets gets 20+ pages worth of hits on ''Variety ↗''{{'s}} website, and you've shown that it's not a self-published blog, you'll have a reason to mass-add it to Wikipedia. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:05, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
:::::Thanks for your explanation. I understand. I accept that ReelStreets does not meet WP notability criteria and I see that adding ReelStreets was therefore wrong, and especially to do so at scale as part of my workflow. I acted in good faith in the belief that ReelStreets added value to an article and my intention was never to spam, vandalise, or promote ReelStreets, with which I have no connection. My mistake was that I did not consider that the usual notability criteria apply to External Links as well as article text. From WP:NOBLOGS ↗ I can see that it clearly and obviously does. So I hold up my hands – I screwed up. It was right that another editor picked up on it. I'd like to fix the situation and I would be happy to start a process of undoing those edits manually. Removal of sourced information
Hi {{ping|Tobyhoward}} – on multiple occasions now (like on Vincent Ball ↗) you have removed the birth year from the short description on biographies of living people, despite the fact that the birth year was adequately sourced in the article (and was sourced in the correct place). Once I can recognise as a mistake, but I have caught you doing this multiple times now, which begs the question: why? Are you even checking the body of the article properly to see if the birth information is sourced, or are you ripping out birth years if a source isn't planted in the lead of the article? Birth information should ideally be soured in the body of the article itself, not the lead. Thus you should also be checking this area for citations. Thanks Jkaharper (talk) 17:14, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
:Hi @Jkaharper, I always check the whole article for reliable birth year sources, not just the lead section. In the Vincent Ball case, I didn't accept ref 4 (Crossroads Appreciation Soc.) because it is a self-published fansite; in reference 5 (Australian Women's Weekly) I didn't spot the "will be 50 in December", which was my mistake. So thanks for pointing that out and reverting it. If there are other specific cases you have spotted, please let me know and I will happily go back and check them. Thanks. Mary Taviner image
Hi there. I often come across your good work on old British films. Can you help?
Back in September, you uploaded an image of Mary Taviner and added it to the article on The Trial of Madame X ↗. I have recently reused that same image The_Trial_of_Madame_X_film_frame_(1955).jpg in a new article ↗ I have written about Taviner. However, within a few hours the image was removed by a bot with the explanation "Removed WP:NFCC ↗ violation(s). No valid non-free use rationale for this page. See WP:NFC#Implementation ↗." I don't know why the image has remained in the Madame X article, but perhaps that will get hit next by the same bot.
I am not good on copyright. Do you have any idea how to fix this, so the both articles can continue to use the image? Thanks. Masato.harada (talk) 13:27, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
:Hi! Thanks for your nice comment about my work on films. I say the same to you -- I often see your name! No, I'm mystified about this image issue. As you say, maybe the bot will find my use of it and nix it. But all my image uploads have the same boilerplate "usage" text which has seemed robust for some some time and I haven't had any issues. I suggest you ask on WP:IMAGEHELP ↗ and see if the folks there can help. Good luck and please let me know if you find out anything. Best wishes! Toby Tobyhoward (talk) 13:45, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks, I'll try that.
::Incidentally, I was sorry to see you got beaten up for your use of ReelStreets. I've still got some references on non-film WP articles which use it - just hope they aren't spotted. Perhaps it would be possible to build an argument to justify using it some time? Cheers. Masato.harada (talk) 14:16, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
:::Yes the ReelStreets thing was a bit odd. I was conflicted about what to do, and decided to capitulate. In retrospect I'm not sure I was right. Technically I guess it is a "moderated crowd-sourced blog" and a blog is a blog! Yet I really like it and think it's a fantastic resource. Unrelated: may I ask you something? I have always wondered -- are you Japanese? Or a fan of the director of the same name? Or actually the director? :-) Cheers! Tobyhoward (talk) 21:00, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
::::No, I'm not Japanese, although a British fan of old Japanese cinema. When I first created my WP account I needed a user name and looked up and there was a poster for GUNHED ↗ on the wall, and I took the director's name from it. I was in a rush and regret it now. Masato.harada (talk) 10:23, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
:::::Haha! I see. I'd like to mention something, but not on this public talk page. Would you mind sending me an email via User > Email user at the top of this page? Tobyhoward (talk) 10:29, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
::::::Done. The answer to my image problem is that that image is only for use on a single page, The Trial of Madame X, so I'll have to do without. The answer I got was:
:::::::@Masato.harada every separate use of a non-free image needs its own rationale (WP:NFCC#10c ↗). :File:The Trial of Madame X film frame (1955).jpg ↗ only has a rationale for use in the article The Trial of Madame X ↗. If you want to use the image elsewhere, such as Mary Taviner ↗ then you need to add a new rationale for that use. As the article on Taviner already contains a free image of her (:File:Mary Taviner in about 1939.jpg ↗) then you are going to pretty much automatically fail WP:NFCC#1 ↗. Nthep (talk) 10:56, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
:::::::Aaaaah right I see. Thanks for the update. Tobyhoward (talk) 12:50, 5 July 2025 (UTC)

The London Nobody Knows date
Hi Toby. Some confusion with the date of The London Nobody Knows. Wilfred Burns ↗ and several other articles say 1967. The London Nobody Knows ↗ article says 1968. Your own user page says 1964. I'll let you sort them out. Cheers! Masato.harada (talk) 08:31, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
:Yes I know! I've settled on 1967, as that's what the BFI and BBFC, and Burns and others say. I initially had 1964 which was my typo. I then changed it to 1968, meaning it to be 1967. Oh and the film's credits say 1967, just watched it. Not my day! Tobyhoward (talk) 08:44, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
File:All Night Long 3 film DVD cover (1996).jpg
Hi TobeyHoward. It's not clear why you overwrote :File:All Night Long 3 film DVD cover (1996).jpg ↗ with :File:Batsu Game 2 film DVD cover (2012).jpg ↗ file. Both of these files have been flagged a being redundant of each other because of this. There's no real need for the same non-free DVD cover art to be uploaded under different file names. Perhaps this was just a mistake? If it was, then that's OK, but you might want to revert back to the originally uploaded version of the "All Night Long 3" file before it mistakenly gets tagged for speedy deletion per :WP:CSD#F1 ↗ or some other reason. If you do revert back to the original version, it would be a bit help if you could also add the template {{tlx|Orfurrev}} to the top of the file's page so that an administrator knows to delete to no-longer older unused versions of the file per :WP:F5 ↗. You should try to resolve this asap before a bot tags the file with the same template and the originally uploaded version gets deleted instead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:17, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
:Thanks for spotting this. Yes it was a mistake, not sure what happened here! I've reverted, as you suggested. I hope I've done that correctly. Tobyhoward (talk) 01:30, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for re-checking. I've tagged the file so that the older unused revisions end up deleted. Things should be fine now. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:46, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
