Ways to improve 1998 Israeli municipal elections
Hello, Totalstgamer,
Thank you for creating 1998 Israeli municipal elections ↗.
I have tagged the page ↗ as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process ↗ and note that:
{{Quote|1=Rather than External links to election results, it would be better if inline citations to the relevant external sources were used; this will help Wikipedia users verify that assertions made in the text are supported by reliable, independent sources. The inline citations would then be captured as footnotes under a References heading (the Reflist template helps with formatting of the References section). WP:CITE ↗ has useful guidance on how to cite works.}}
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with <code><nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>Paul W<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>. Remember to sign your reply with <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code>. Israeli politicians pages
Noticed you undid multiple page upgrades about Israeli politicians. The Hebrew language wiki has full detail, and most other English language politicians have full detail. Helpfulguy101 (talk) 22:08, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
:Thanks for getting in touch. The standard practice is to use the subterm template for Israeli politicians unless they're PMs, mostly because it allows for more necessary information to be condensed into one place. I think that makes sense, given how chaotic israeli politics are. I know hebrew wikipedia does things differently, that's just not very relevant. If you want, we can discuss this in more detail on a talk page like Talk:Yoav Galant ↗, since that'd probably allow for more people to get involved. Totalstgamer (talk) 22:24, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Benjamin Netanyahu's education at MIT
Hi, I was reading the Wikipedia entry on Benjamin Netanyahu and I noticed an error regarding his education at MIT. I can't correct it because I do not have editing rights (the page is locked for editing) and am not interested in creating an account. So, I looked up the editors' handles on the history page. There are a lot of editors, but you have among the most edits.
Here's the issue - and it's a minor one, but one that deserves correction: Netanyahu took a double load in order to complete his '''undergraduate studies''' in two and a half years, which would normally take four years. The text suggests that he completed his '''master's degree''' in only two and a half years with the same caveat that it normally takes four years to complete a master's.
However, a master's degree usually takes only two years, so if it took him 2.5 years to do his master's, it would have taken him longer than normal. A review of the source material shows that he completed his undergraduate degree in 2.5 years, not his master's. Here is the current version:
"At MIT, Netanyahu studied a double-load, '''completing a master's degree (that would normally take four years) in only two and a half years''', despite taking a break to fight in the Yom Kippur War." 174.109.83.64 ↗ (talk) 14:18, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
:Hey, thanks for reaching out. The source cited in the article mentions that Netanyahu took two and a half years to get a Bachelor of Science ↗ (i think) in Architecture, which according to the BoS's page takes about 3-5 years. I don't know how i could potentially rephrase this at the moment, but i could probably look into it at some point today or tomorrow. In the meantime, i'd suggest you leave a message on the article's talk page ↗, so other experienced editors could help with the issue. Totalstgamer (talk) 14:42, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

Activist for Israeli-American Jewish relations
Hi Totalstgamer, I recently created a restructure and update of Jay Ruderman ↗'s article. He is a philanthropist who served in the IDF ↗, was Leadership Director of AIPAC ↗, and works to strengthen relations between Israeli and American Jewry. Here is my explanation ↗ of the changes I made; if you agree that they make the article more encylopedic, would you mind implementing the new version? Thank you! LiatDo (talk) 18:22, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
::Hey Liat, i've gone over the changes and accepted some of them. In some instances, i chose to preserve stuff you proposed removing because i was torn on its notability. I also chose not to include the mention of the podcast for similar reasons. In addition, i made "philanthropy" a subsection of "Career" and maintained a modified version of the "views and opinions" section. I'm not particularly well informed on Jay Ruderman, Disability rights or Diaspora Judaism, so feel free to make additional changes to the page. Thanks for working to comply with COI! Totalstgamer (talk) 20:09, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
:::Hi {{U|Totalstgamer}}, thank you for your hard work in updating Jay Ruderman ↗'s article! Regarding the podcast, I am including links to the significant press coverage of "All About Change:"
::::USA Wire ↗
::::JNS ↗
::::Arutz Sheva ↗
:::Based on these articles covering the podcast, would you reconsider including it in the article? If you do not think that it warrants its own section, perhaps it would be more appropriate in the "Activism" subsection? Thank you again! LiatDo (talk) 08:31, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
::::Apologies for the delayed response. Having read the sources in question and looked at wikipedia's guidelines, i don't see a reason not to include a mention of the podcast. As a result, i've added one to the Activism section. Totalstgamer (talk) 00:31, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
:::::{{U|Totalstgamer}}, thank you very much for taking the time to review everything and for the addition! LiatDo (talk) 08:41, 28 April 2024 (UTC)

Dan Illouz
Hi, I noticed that you are from Israel but I would like to explain that when I changed Faction to Party it is correct and also that Dan Illouz's term is officially 4 years, that is, it ends in 2027 and of course he runs for re-election, so the time is extended now I don't understand why wanting to leave Faction because of what I know of the name Faction is not the best choice not in this case but who am I to question a native Israeli Danieldaconstantinopla (talk) 00:26, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
:The standard for templates is to write the name of the party (as there are no constituencies), start of the term in years, and not write the end so its clear the term is still ongoing. Writing that the term ends in 2027 (which afaik is disputed between 2027 and 2026) would indicate Illouz is guranteed or extremely likely to serve the full term, which he isn't
:When it comes to factions, there is a distinction between political parties and Knesset factions, as sometimes politicians will form their own caucus without forming a distinct party (see Naftali Bennett's brief self-caucus in 2022). Thus we use the term "factions" in the infobox when referring to a politician's term. Totalstgamer (talk) 18:47, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

About your message at my GA review of 2005 Likud leadership election ↗
Hey! I did notice that message you left, and I wanted to say that I'm really glad that you're still active. I was worried that WikiProject Israel ↗ might not have too many active contributors anymore. While my focus is mostly on Israeli "pop culture" (music, cinema, and the like), I wouldn't mind collaborating on any Israeli politics related articles. I think that improving ''any'' article that relates to Israel can help out. I do have a few biographical articles that I think could use the improvement to GA status on my user page, but to list a few off the top of my head:
# Moshe Dayan ↗, also falls into military figures, but I'd say there's certainly enough sources about him that could help improve it to a GA. At the moment, the article has a lot of cleanup tags and an entire section that's uncited.
# David Ben-Gurion ↗, to be honest, in an ideal world, this would be an '''FA''', and considering that Yasser Arafat ↗ is an FA, while this may be an ambitious goal, I don't think it's an unrealistic one.
# Menachem Begin ↗, same as Ben-Gurion.
Here's a few electoral articles that could use the improvement to this level:
# 1977 Israeli legislative election ↗, the so called "upheaval!", one of the most important elections in the history of Israel, it would benefit greatly from improvements, same applies to articles related to it.
# 1984 Israeli legislative election ↗, ditto, aside from being important, the strange situation that Israel got into because of this election gives it a unique importance that I'm sure you're aware of.
# 1992 Israeli legislative election ↗
# 1996 Israeli general election ↗, just like the 1984 election, this one is one of the strangest elections in Israeli history and one of only a few to be a general election. See also: 1999 Israeli general election ↗ and 2001 Israeli prime ministerial election ↗.
And finally, some articles about political parties in Israel that could also use some improvement:
# Mapai ↗, Alignment (Israel) ↗, and Israeli Labor Party ↗, I rolled these into one because they're all related.
# Herut ↗, Israeli Liberal Party ↗, and any of the other major right wing parties that existed before Likud ↗ formed in 1973.
And that's all the suggestions I have, feel free to let me know what you think of them in your reply.
Again, to be really honest with you, I'd love to help in improving ''any'' article related to Israel, even if it isn't what I usually edit because we could always improve the coverage of Israel on here. I really hope that you'll continue to contribute the same way you have before, because this project could always use the help. Make sure to ping me in your replies. S.G. (They/Them) (Talk) (Edits) ↗ 17:31, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
:{{Reply to|SignedInteger}} I don't really touch on military stuff, but improving the part on Dayan's political career sounds fun. I was actually thinking of improving 2001 Israeli prime ministerial election ↗ because i'm aware of several gaps in its contents (such as Netanyahu and Peres' attempted candidacies). Ben-Gurion and Begin honestly sound incredibly daunting given the large body of sources, but I imagine a team of multiple editors could do something good with it. In general i think these are all great ideas with ample available sourcing. My current projects are Ori Orr ↗ (see my userpage sandbox) and maybe Religious Councils, and i'd be happy to start working on one of these articles after that. Totalstgamer (talk) 18:08, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
::I don't disagree that improving Begin and Ben-Gurion are daunting tasks, I'm not expecting just you and me to do that, but we'll both have to see if anyone else in WP:ISRAEL ↗ would be willing to help. As for your comment about Dayan: {{tpq|I don't really touch on military stuff}}, neither do I, the only exceptions to this are Lehakat Pikud Darom ↗, Lehakat Pikud Merkaz ↗ and Lehakat Pikud Tzafon ↗, but as I'm sure you know, Israel's military ensembles barely even count as "military stuff" when compared to say, Rafael Eitan ↗ or the military careers of Ariel Sharon ↗ and Yitzhak Rabin ↗. I still think that improving the political aspect of Dayan's article is needed. One part has the {{failed verification}} cleanup tag that I think could easily be fixed and again, the entire section about his time as the foreign minister is not only relatively short but completely uncited. As for your own projects, I find them interesting and I'll see what I can find to help. For pretty much anything related to 20th century Israeli history, the best place to start searching is at the NLI ↗. All of the articles that I've made make good use of stuff from there. Thank you for your comments, and I must say again that I'm glad to see other editors help out with Israel-related articles! S.G. (They/Them) (Talk) (Edits) ↗ 18:22, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
:::Oh i love the NLI, their Newspaper archive's an excellent source. I'll be sure to let you know when I do a bigger project / would love to hear whenever you come up with one. I'm as glad as you are that there's another person contributing! Totalstgamer (talk) 19:14, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
::::I don't really dabble in Israel related topics on-wiki, but I did clean up Eichmann trial ↗ around March of last year and would like to see it get to GA. Perhaps you'd be interested in doing that one as well @Totalstgamer? (Also noting that @SignedInteger has been blocked for sockpuppetry.) <span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS; border-radius:35% 0; font-weight:bold; background:linear-gradient(300deg,#ff0d00,#1AD); color:#fff; padding:2px 5px;"><span style="color: white;">Gommeh</span> 📖 🎮</span> 19:55, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
:::::I'm not currently taking on any new projects, but maybe in the future. Its slightly out of my comfort zone Totalstgamer (talk) 09:08, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
