Wikipedia and copyright
30px|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello Trabzonluyuz-rumuz-elhamdulillah! Your additions to :Johannes Grant ↗ have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted ↗ content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain ↗ or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible ↗ copyright license—''to request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ↗''. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues. Here are the key points:
- '''Limited quotation:''' You may only copy or translate a ''small'' portion of a source. Any direct quotations ↗ must be enclosed in double quotation mark ↗s (") and properly cited using an inline citation ↗. More information is available on the non-free content page ↗. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners ↗.
- '''Paraphrasing:''' Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ''in your own words''. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues ↗ and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing ↗. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources ↗ as appropriate.
- '''Image use guidelines:''' In most scenarios, only freely licensed ↗ or public domain ↗ images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons ↗. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria ↗; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide ↗ may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- '''Copyrighted material donation:''' If ''you'' hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗.
- '''Copying and translation within Wikipedia:''' Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. For translation, see {{section link|Help:Translation|Licensing}}.
:ah, okay i understand. i thought that the portion i took was small enough, but apparently not. i'll try to be more careful from now on.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ↗, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Euphorion ↗ was added. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)

Introduction to contentious topics
{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to ''' Armenia ↗, Azerbaijan ↗, or related conflicts''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia ↗;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines ↗;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system ↗.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template.
}} Birthay boy ↗ (talk ↗ • contribs ↗) 10:35, 16 May 2026 (UTC)

30px|alt=Stop icon ↗ '''You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war ↗, according to the reverts you've made to :Fall of Constantinople ↗.''' This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate ↗ with others, avoid editing disruptively ↗, and try to reach a consensus ↗ – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.
Important points to note:
# {{strong|Edit warring is disruptive behavior ↗ – regardless of how many reverts you have made;}}
# {{strong|Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.}}
You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page ↗ and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard ↗ or seek dispute resolution ↗ if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection ↗. {{strong|If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked ↗ from editing.}} R Prazeres (talk) 20:28, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi R Prazeres,
:I am contacting you because User:Trabzonlu elhamdullah has completely ignored the warning you issued to them 6 days ago regarding edit warring and disruptive changes to the casualty numbers on the Fall of Constantinople ↗ article.
:Yesterday, they once again performed a blanket revert to wipe out well-researched, consensus-backed modern historical ranges that I had added, which were fully supported by standard academic citations (including specific ISBNs and page numbers).
:In place of established historical consensus, they have reinstated absurdly low, un-cited figures (3,600 Ottoman KIA and 840 Byzantine KIA). These numbers represent an extreme fringe interpretation or a selective misreading of isolated primary sources (such as tracking a single day's skirmish or a single elite unit), completely misrepresenting the actual scale of the 53-day siege and the subsequent three-day sack of the city.
:The editor's username ("Trabzonlu" referring to Trebizond/Trabzon and "Elhamdullah") strongly suggests a nationalistic, non-neutral point of view (POV) motivation behind these edits. They appear determined to sanitize the historical data to minimize Ottoman losses and downplay the intensity of the conflict, treating the article as a venue for regional/nationalist POV-pushing rather than an objective historical record.
:Given that this editor has shown blatant disregard for your recent warning and is actively engaging in a disruptive, single-purpose edit war to enforce an inaccurate version of the page, I kindly request that their edits be reverted to the sourced consensus version, and that appropriate administrative action or page protection be applied to prevent further disruption.
:Thank you for your time and assistance in maintaining the integrity of the article. Abdullah Sahbaz (talk) 10:13, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
::Alright, this is getting ridiculous now. Not only am I being called a Turkish nationalist, but I'm also being accused of a revert I didn't do, lol. Trabzonluyuz-rumuz-elhamdulillah (talk) 13:32, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
::As an observer of the disagreements in Talk:Fall of Constantinople ↗, this accusation torwards User:Trabzonluyuz-rumuz-elhamdulillah is unfair, since he hasn't edited the page Fall of Constantinople ↗ since June 1st, and therefore did not ignore the warning.
::Also, he certainly is not a nationalist. His other contributions do not praise the Ottomans, and even the folk song he has in his profile comes from anti-Ottoman 20th century rebel groups from the region of Trabzon. So the accusation of nationalism is also unfair.Neoptolemos7 (talk) 12:28, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
