Autopatrol

You mean to tell me autopatrol is something you have to ask for? Haha I never even realized I didn't have it. I thought it was something that came automatically, like autoconfirm. Lizard (talk) 08:30, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
:{{Ping|Lizard the Wizard}} Yes, I didn't realize it either until Jweiss recommended me. I was even more shocked that Corky didn't have it either until I nominated him. I suppose it must be because anybody can create a bunch of stubs or worthless articles that could meet the requirements just to have them all wind up deleted. However, you are diligently thorough when you create/overhaul articles. I noticed you didn't have that right and you met the requirements. So I figured might as well.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 12:39, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

:::I'm physically incapable of doing things half-assed. That's why I haven't been doing the season articles campaign, I'd end up spending a week on a single season. It's a pain, really. I'm not sure what Comeaux's been doing lately. Right now I'm clashing with an editor over NPOV issues on David Carr (American football) ↗, which has been going on for months now. Lizard (talk) 18:48, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
::::I don't like the single paragraph, add an infobox & navbox and run type mentality ↗, at least add schedule tables (create a standings template), and any NFL draftees to make it look like it'll pass AfD. Although, I've done that today on NDSU. I don't plan on doing just that, but it is a st(ub)art (oh goodness that is almost a pun). If there is an opposite to OCD that is what I am, but I like standardization so that is what I like to focus on in that regard. That is why my main focus is to look at what many people overlook, categories/standings templates, stuff I don't have to spend hours on cranking them out and I can bounce around to the next new thing. Obviously I care much more about D-II schools than most (mainly because I went to one), so that is why I am focusing on D-II champs. {{od}} Have you thought about contributing to Nicholls State Colonels football ↗ and athletics in general recently?UCO2009bluejay (talk) 20:40, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
:Not really. The football team was pretty horrible while I was there. I think they won something like 2 games total in a three season stretch at one point. I'm a lifelong LSU fan, such that I even pulled for LSU when they played Nicholls in baseball and basketball. I just attended Nicholls because it was closer to home. Lizard (talk) 20:58, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

I never planned on branching out further than LSU football articles, but here I am on stuff like Earl Campbell ↗ and Don Hutson ↗ and AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year ↗. Lester Holt

This issue seems to be about what constitutes a sufficient reference. So let me give you an example of the point that I'm making: If a page was about global warming, and I added content to the page by pointing out that according to records kept by NOAA, the average global temperature went up by 1 degree in 2015, that is indeed a sufficient reference by use of an in-line attribution. I am not required to provide a link to the page of Government records where that is written. I've stated the reference and it is verifiable.

Corky has been made aware of that reasoning, yet persists in deleting the content, and that indicates bad faith.

Honestmedia (talk) 18:34, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Yes, you should indicate the source, and link to information proving they said it. Because how else would we know that in fact the NOAA made that statement. In line citations don't mean the space they are printed on without a footnote. Hell when I was in college even if you included an inline citation you would have to cite the source. This isn't a good faith issue, this is a procedural one. For instance, "NASA indicates there is life on the sun." The example in WP:Cite#In-text attribution ↗ gives an indication that you must link the source anyway.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 03:21, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Head coaching tables

UCO2009bluejay, hey, I noticed your edits to various head coaching tables to remove blank fields and otherwise condense. I have some reservations about this and I would like discuss at WT:CFB ↗ and get input from a few editors, hopefully. Can you pause on that effort for now? Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 04:04, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
:I can for now. I honestly don't know what the issue is, or how it is any different than reducing parameters from an infobox, so we can discuss. The vast majority of it was getting rid of the poll parameter for unranked seasons, the bowl parameter for non-bowl seasons, erasing the conference standings parameter line when a team was an independent. In most of these tables it doesn't change anything aesthetically. I can see the argument for a few that it does, such as getting rid of the bowl seasons column when the coach never went bowling, or the conference column for a coach that was always with an independent program. I figured these had "off switches" for a reason. If anything doing this can stop (or make it harder) for random vandals to enter false information.–UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:15, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

Tulsa Oilers (disambiguation) ↗

If you'll read the page, you'll see that the Tulsa Oilers (IFL) ↗ are already mentioned at the header, in the sentence:

"The ECHL Oilers' ownership group also owns another team called the '''Tulsa Oilers ↗''', a professional indoor football team currently playing in the Indoor Football League."

So there's no need to list them twice with no further information as a bullet point. Tom Danson (talk) 13:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
:{{Ping|Tom Danson}} Since there is no WP:Primarytopic ↗ for the Tulsa Oilers, they should all be listed as bullet points instead. I am not going to die on this hill.-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 23:59, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Tables of NBA head coaching records

I appreciate you adding tables for multiple historic NBA coaches, examples being Wallace Jones ↗, Slater Martin ↗, Mack Calvin ↗, and Johnny McCarthy ↗. I happen to have some guide lists that you may be interested in. Over the last few years, I have been very mindful about adding basketball-related stat tables to the English Wikipedia, and I have made lists keeping track of the likewise progress that I and others have made with such tasks. Here is a sample of the lists I made which I believe would be useful resources relevant to your editing activity:

#NBA coach articles
#ABA coach articles
#NBA player articles
#ABA player articles

I have a total of eight such list guides, seven of which are related to basketball. If you so choose, I will gladly appreciate any contributions you give to helping these lists go down to zero entries. Heisman Trophy winners

Hi. I do not think we need to reach a consensus about how writing the line of the Heisman winner in the college football season infobox. It is already cleared in MOS:OL ↗: "Links may be excessive even if they are informative. For example, because inline links present relatively small tap targets on touchscreen devices, placing several separate inline links close together within a section of text can make navigation more difficult for readers, especially if they have limited dexterity or coordination". I just rephrased the sentence (MOS:SOB ↗).

The listing "college/position/player name" is pretty common, for example in this link ↗ you can read: "The honors keep rolling in for Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield."

So I think it is the best way to do this. Mehmed Ulyanov (talk) 05:06, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
:See the discussion on WT:CFB ↗, if there is an established scheme, it is likely that way for a reason. Be bold but WP:BRD ↗ needs to be followed. Also, WP:OL ↗ doesn't apply, all you did was change the order, listing the college first, which might make sense in prose but not in a list. A player wins the Heisman, not the team.-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 13:22, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
