List of Jamaica hurricanes ↗

Hey there ViridLeWiki! Welcome to Wikipedia, in case no one else has welcomed you. I see you made some edits to the List of Jamaica hurricanes ↗. I appreciate you adding information, and I'm guessing you got the content from other Wikipedia articles? In the future, could you be sure to also include the references for that information? It's an important way of establishing Wikipedia's credibility. But otherwise, keep up your additions! I've worked on a lot of these lists of storms in a certain area, and I think they are a vital way of showing the history for an area, since the storms tell the story of some of the worst moments. Do you have any questions about how Wikipedia operates or anything? Cheers, ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 19:14, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

:Hi Hurricanehink, thanks, I did get some of the content from other articles, i’ll see if I have time to add some references if I can, I don’t have any questions as of now but thank you! I do like to give history on things that don’t have information as much, I definitely do plan on adding more history to the lists of storms to have impacted countries across the world. And i’ve been tracking tropical cyclones for about 4 years now. ViridLeWiki (talk) 02:17, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
::Hey, I'm the the owner of the article "Storm Samuel" ↗. I really appreciate your adjustments to the article. About the storm category , I wrote Unknown but kept your explanation so people don't get confused if it is EX or SS/TS. 4hv4b (talk) 20:06, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
:::Understandable and thank you! Although you should’ve replied to me in another talk page instead of this one. ViridLeWiki (talk) 01:47, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

List of New York hurricanes ↗

Hey there, I saw you make a lot of edits to the List of New York hurricanes ↗. I appreciate some of the edits, but I feel like some of those changes weren't needed. For example, since most years only have one storm affecting the state, you don't need to link every single season and have a header and image for every year. That clutters the page quite a lot. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 21:04, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

:Hi hurricanehink, I get where your at, however I think the formatting and styling of years with only one storm should match with years with more than one storm to make it more organized and consistent with each other, if it’s an issue that needs to be fixed I will gladly fix it or reorganizing it to make it better. ViridLeWiki (talk) 12:51, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
::But that creates a ton of white space, having sections for every year. The list is already a featured list, so I just want to make sure all additions are positive. For example, most of the rainfall maps don't show much about New York. Flossy 56, Gracie, and Esther all seem useless. Especially so Daisy, with its caption "Rainfall amounts from Hurricane Daisy as it produced minuscule rain in Upstate New York.". Also because of the spacing, you see images from the 1970s when discussing the storms in the 2000s. I'm sorry to suggest that you undo some of your work, but most of those image additions make the article worse. Would you mind changing the article back to its older format, having sections for just the decades, and only have like one image per decade? ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 17:39, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
:::I would prefer toning down most of the images I suppose, especially the rainfall maps if they don’t really show too much, I prefer the newer format though, year sections make the article more interesting, less images would make the article less appealing and bland in a way, only if the images (rainfall maps for example) don’t show too much of New York itself. I also don’t know what’s with seeing 1970s images when discussing 2000s storms unless you mean the rainfall maps used being the same format as much older storms, maybe it’s just your end. But I will take some of your suggestions and try to apply it to the new format. ViridLeWiki (talk) 17:52, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
:::I will try to filter out and un-clutter some of the space, probably seasons with only 1 storm to not have any necessary image for it unless it is very significant. I’ll try to add some more storms into the overall list and maybe see if that’ll require an image for its section. I’ll also try uncovering some storm damage from Commons or uploading some footage or media onto Commons and uploading purposeful images. ViridLeWiki (talk) 18:04, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
::::Yea, the problem is that there's still a ton of images, so when I scroll to the 2000's section, I'm seeing images from the previous decade, same for the later sections. And having sections for each year adds a lot of unnecessary space, which just adds to the white space. And most of the images, if they're satellite images of the storm offshore, don't show demonstrate the storm's effects on the state. I appreciate your work on the article, but the biggest big of work that's needed is improving references. For example, both Irene and Sandy's sections have unsourced parts. Also, more damage totals would be nice. Ida and Isaias's sections have a decent amount of info but no damage totals. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 19:10, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
:::::Ik, some other wiki editors are at fault for not sourcing much stuff and not including damage/death totals in the past, i’ll try to add that, and also try switching out satellite imagery for damage. ViridLeWiki (talk) 22:34, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
::::::Yea you're totally right. The list could be at risk of losing its FL status, that's why I wanted to bring up some of the things that the list actually needed some work on. Most of the damage totals should be available in the individual articles. It's just that a lot of the article is a bunch of random rainfall totals. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 22:51, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

Hey there, I see you recently added the subtropical storm from 1981. I appreciate that, but make sure you get the proper link, instead of an old link. You can find old NHC reports here ↗. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 19:44, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

:Hey hurricanehink, I did use the storm wallet prelim report as the source for the 1981 Unnamed SS but due to the URL ending with “gif”, I had to save the page through the Wayback Machine just so it could be sourced (I also couldn’t find like any other better source besides it). ViridLeWiki (talk) 03:47, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
::It's fine for the image to end with GIF. Just as if it was a PDF, you can include type=GIF in the citation. ♫ Hurricanehink (<small>talk ↗</small>) 05:30, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

May you share the link for 1-min per winds (JTWC/ATCF)? MAS0802 09:51, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Talk page comment

Yesterday you made a lot of edits on Subtropical cyclone ↗. About two weeks ago I left a message there ↗ about how I believe Jelawat ↗ and Surigae ↗ should be removed from the list of tropical cyclones that went from tropical to subtropical, as there are many other examples of this in the western Pacific and in my opinion including them all would be too much. I thought you could have some say as you edited it thoroughly yesterday and I bet if you read my talk page message you would have replied. Nibnab43637 (talk) 13:44, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

:I believe they should be included but only listed as just some examples of Subtropical cyclones that the JTWC themselves have classified, stating that they have classified many more throughout the years in the Western Pacific (or Southern Hemisphere because they have done so too). |style="vertical-align: middle; padding: 3px;" | Wanna know something crazy? I first wrote the 1978 Pacific typhoon season ↗ article back in 2005, but I barely added anything, thinking that people would add to it in the future. It's wild that Carmen didn't even have a description, or just "Carmen was short-lived", or just "Carmen affected South Korea."
