Request For Comment - Infobox Weather Damage Estimates
There is a new ongoing request for comment ↗ discussion, with the goal to solve the various disputes on weather-related articles (such as tornado ↗es or hurricane ↗es) on how to best utilize damage estimates in the infobox. should we create a draft for Canadian tornadoes in the 1990s?
since the 1990s had many tornadoes in Canada, should there be a draft for the 1990-2000 tornadoes? SillyNerdo (talk) 21:13, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
:I think that definitely makes sense, probably for the 80s too since that seems to be when they begin to be documented better. It would probably be best to do a page for each decade after the 80s, so:
:1980-1989
:1990-1999
:2000-2009
:2010-2019
:2020-present (2020-2029)
:On a separate note it seems really weird to me that the 2 current articles are organized before & after 2001; 2000 seems like a much more logical choice that is more consistent with other articles. It would be a pretty easy switch so let me know if I should do it Yobatna (talk) 04:08, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
::yeah you should, It's more consistent if you switch the ones in 2000 over to the 2001-present page. And, I think by decades from 1980 - present are good. SillyNerdo (talk) 10:56, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
:::The 21st century began on January 1, 2001, so the 2000 tornado list on that page is not correct. 2000 is the last year of the 20th century, and the lists are split by the 20th and 21st century. Suckerpunch (talk) 10:48, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
::::that's true, but the articles' formats (decades) make it weird to split it by 20th/21st centuries, since you're left with a single year under "2000s" in the 20th century article, and are missing 2000 in the "2000s" section of the 21st century article. using 2000 as that benchmark instead just makes it more organized and consistent Yobatna (talk) 17:39, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
