There is currently a discussion on the talk page ↗ about whether the article on Spain ↗ should include a mention of the country's culture in the introduction. You’re welcome to share your opinion if you’d like to.

Have a good day. Abatsuki (talk) 16:09, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

:@Abatsuki Indeed! Thanks for letting me know, I’ll be taking part. Best regards. _-_Alsor (talk) 16:14, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
::Good afternoon,
::I recently added a compromise proposal on the Talk page, which consists of keeping some cultural mention of Spain in the introduction while changing the term "cultural superpower" (the term that caused the central dispute) to something alternative.
::Please write to me on the Talk page ↗, if you'd like and when you can, to let me know whether you agree or disagree.
::Thank you very much, have a nice day. Abatsuki (talk) 16:34, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas ↗

You are invited to participate in the '''Destubathon of the Americas ↗''', a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ <span style="font-variant:small-caps;color:#aba67e">''Dr. Blofeld''</span> 16:39, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

About Spain

I'm writing just in case you hadn't seen it, but there's a pending proposal on the Talk page ↗ of the Spain article that combines the proposal to keep the cultural references with latest Moxy's proposal.

Please take a look and let me know what you think in the Talk thread, so we can decide whether or not to implement it.

Best regards. Abatsuki (talk) 05:38, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Your removal about the new blood test for colon cancer

I noticed that you removed the entry about the new Shield blood test for colorectal cancer ↗ for Portal:Current events/2026 May 27 ↗ (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Current_events/2026_May_27&oldid=1356966151 ↗, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Current_events/2026_May_27&diff=next&oldid=1356586168 ↗). I added this in 2026 in the United States ↗, but this is notable for Portal:Current events ↗ because colon cancer is on the rise in young adults especially in the United States. In fact, its the leading cause of cancer death in adults younger than 50 and second leading cause worldwide. The source about the blood test is mentioned in Ynetnews ↗ (an Israeli source), Global News ↗ (a Canadian source), Medical News Today ↗ (headquartered in Brighton, East Sussex, UK), and Reuters ↗. While not every U.S. entry is not notable, this is an exception because colon cancer is on the rise in young adults especially the United States. &#126;2026-30379-59 ↗ (talk) 03:14, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

:@~2026-30379-59 You keep giving me reasons to regard this as a purely routine local medical matter. It is simply the approval of a type of test to detect a specific potential illness. If you replace the United States with any other country, it remains entirely local and routine (that is how medicine works). Every country in the world has its own epidemiological realities, and this one is no more notable than any other. There is no reason for it to be included. And have not a worldwide coverage. _-_Alsor (talk) 13:30, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

Put up a Discussion topic on Deaths 2026

Weigh in on your thinking about "National Awards" on the talk page portion of June 2026. Dont understand why "national awards" are a problem.''<span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;"><span style="color: darkolivegreen">Sunny</span><span style="color: darkolivegreen">Doo</span>,</span>'' 21:21, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

:@Sunnydoo This has long been the consensus and has been applied in all cases without exception. _-_Alsor (talk) 21:23, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
:@User:Alsor97 Negatory. Been doing this awhile and have never seen the Medal of Honor ↗ get zapped. Technically if you wanted to enforce this policy it would take out all of the Hall of Fame awards....because baseball hall of fame is all american, aussie hall of fame for football is all aussies, etc. That is why there needs to be discussion on the talk page. Please dont revert while under discussion.''<span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;"><span style="color: darkolivegreen">Sunny</span><span style="color: darkolivegreen">Doo</span>,</span>'' 21:44, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
::@Sunnydoo Well, I’ve been contributing to that site for ten years, so I suppose I know a thing or two. And you’re wrong; not even the Hall of Fame has been handled in the same way as the other awards. I’ve formatted your entry correctly, in line with the style everyone else follows. _-_Alsor (talk) 21:48, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
:::My first edit in Deaths was in 2008. I am not as active as I used to be as I am getting up there in age. But I have never ever seen a Medal of Honor zapped. It is something I find to be extremely disrespectful given the circumstances. I am not saying you did so deliberately or maliciously, it is just something that needs to be addressed one way or the other. In the US, a Medal of Honor recipient may have a federal Highway named after them and they are given a lifetime bonus pension in addition to their normal one. So like I said it is a huge deal.''<span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;"><span style="color: darkolivegreen">Sunny</span><span style="color: darkolivegreen">Doo</span>,</span>'' 21:57, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

Reuters, Arab News ↗, DW ↗, BBC, and The Guardian cover the library opening. That shows that it is notable for Portal:Current events ↗. &#126;2026-33608-87 ↗ (talk) 16:12, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

United States Semiquincentennial ↗

Regarding Portal:Current events/2026 July 4 ↗, this isn’t just an Independence Day. This is the 250th anniversary of the United States. In this case, it’s notable and yes we know 2026 in the United States ↗ exists. There’s even an entry for July 1976 ↗ regarding its bicentennial. It’s covered by sources outside the U.S. See BBC News ↗, France24 ↗, and Euronews ↗. Again, this is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, and it is notable. &#126;2026-38229-49 ↗ (talk) 15:46, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

:As I’ve said, they’re just celebrations. All modern countries are going to celebrate their 250th anniversary of independence, just as they did their 200th, their 100th and their 75th. And what happens? Nothing. They celebrate, unveil monuments, and that’s it. It’s irrelevant to Wikipedia. _-_Alsor (talk) 15:48, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

Edit warring

::30px|alt=Stop icon ↗ You appear to be engaged in an '''edit war ↗'''&#32;at :Portal:Current events/2026 July 4 ↗. An ''edit war'' occurs when editors who disagree about the content of a page repeatedly revert each other's changes. Please '''do not revert or undo''' the edits made by other editors when your changes are reverted. Instead, use the '''talk page ↗''' to discuss how the page can represent consensus ↗ among the editors involved. Here is some advice on how to do this ↗. If discussions get stuck, you can request help at a relevant noticeboard ↗ or seek dispute resolution ↗.

'''Edit warring can result in being blocked from editing ↗'''. This page is under a one-revert rule ↗: No editor may perform more than one revert ↗ on this page within a 24-hour period. Undoing any other editor's work, in whole or in part, involving the same or different material, is a revert. <br />Again, this isn’t just an Independence Day celebration. This is a once-in-a-lifetime anniversary. The 250th anniversary of the United States.<!-- Template:uw-1rr --> &#126;2026-38229-49 ↗ (talk) 15:53, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
