Wikipedia and copyright
30px|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello AustinEmme! Your additions to :List of Marian apparitions ↗ have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted ↗ content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain ↗ or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible ↗ copyright license—''to request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ↗''. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues. Here are the key points:
- '''Limited quotation:''' You may only copy or translate a ''small'' portion of a source. Any direct quotations ↗ must be enclosed in double quotation mark ↗s (") and properly cited using an inline citation ↗. More information is available on the non-free content page ↗. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners ↗.
- '''Paraphrasing:''' Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ''in your own words''. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues ↗ and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing ↗. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources ↗ as appropriate.
- '''Image use guidelines:''' In most scenarios, only freely licensed ↗ or public domain ↗ images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons ↗. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria ↗; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide ↗ may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- '''Copyrighted material donation:''' If ''you'' hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗.
- '''Copying and translation within Wikipedia:''' Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. For translation, see {{section link|Help:Translation|Licensing}}.
:Hi Diannaa, I'm sorry for not following the giudelines, allow me to fix and properly quote the proper sources. I got ahead of myself because I saw many marian apparitions, which have positive judgements, not listed in this page. I just wanted to add them quickly. I hope I will be able to continue to modify this page (following proper guidelines of course) without being blocked (unless I mess up again) AustinEmme (talk) 16:03, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
Templates
Hello, I'm assuming you started out as the temp editor who added the templates Catholic saints to articles en masse (if you are not, please correct me). Based on the recent TfD outcome, there was consensus to split up that template into smaller, more topical scopes. This was to prevent the addition of a main template to an article that the template did not address. However, you have inserted templates onto articles when the template does not include the article and when there is uncertainty regarding whether it falls under the relevant topic(s). You have also added the main template alongside the topical templates. This is undesirable. I would encourage you to self-revert the instances where you added imprecise/errant templates. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 22:30, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
:Second that. The easiest way to deal with a template causing problems is just to delete the template, & this may well be the best outcome here. Johnbod (talk) 03:32, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
:Ah, sorry about that, I will delete the template where the main one is. My mistake. AustinEmme (talk) 11:41, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
::I mean I will delete the main template from the articles I incorrectly placed them. Sorry for that. AustinEmme (talk) 11:45, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
Stop adding sidebars
Please stop your mass addition of sidebars and other templates. I encourage you to cease immediately, as this is not something that has received any discussion, has already elicited opposition, and offers few benefits for Wikipedia's readers. Furthermore, please revert yourself. If you wish to seek consensus, the appropriate forums would be Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Noticeboard ↗ and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Catholicism ↗. If you have any questions, please respond here. ~ Pbritti (talk) 01:46, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
:I want to echo this, and I've reverted a number of the edits myself. Sidebars can often clutter an article and you are adding sidebars to articles that sometimes already have multiple sidebars, or are only tangentially related to the article at hand. Some of them have thrown off the placement of images with the articles as well. I appreciate the enthusiasm and your desire to improve the project, but please familiarize yourself more with the process and Manual of Style ↗ before making further edits of this sort. Cheers. ~Darth StabroTalk ↗ • Contribs ↗ 03:32, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
:I will cease immediately. AustinEmme (talk) 05:33, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
