25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to :Thomas Fairfax ↗, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines ↗ in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name does not follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus ↗ needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test ↗ Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page ↗ to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.<!-- Template:uw-move1 --> Dormskirk (talk) 23:23, 16 May 2026 (UTC)

:Category:Jones family (Glamorgan Shipping Magnates) ↗ has been nominated for conversion

<div class="floatleft" style="margin-bottom:0">48px|alt=|link= ↗</div>:Category:Jones family (Glamorgan Shipping Magnates) ↗ has been nominated for conversion. A discussion is taking place to decide whether it complies with the categorization ↗ guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at '''the category's entry ↗''' on the categories for discussion ↗ page.<!-- Template:Cfd-notify--> Thank you. SMasonGarrison 00:03, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi SMasonGarrison, thank you for your message. I disagree with your proposed conversion of :Category:Jones family (Glamorgan Shipping Magnates) ↗ into an article, as I have stated on '''the category's entry ↗'''. I disagree because, whereas there are multiple sources for the notability of each of the individual people in the category, there is only one short online source for their shipping company M. Jones and Bro.: which is the entry for 'JONES, M., & BROTHER' here https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/1914_Who's_Who_in_Business:_Company_J. However, the source of their wealth does need to appear in brackets in the current category's name, to distinguish them from the other Glamorgan families who have the same surname of Jones (which is a very common surname in Wales). OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion

Hi there! I check pages listed in :Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting ↗ to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted ↗ my fix to :Janet Boyd ↗.

If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <code><nowiki><ref name="foo">...</ref></nowiki></code> and one or more <code><nowiki><ref name="foo"/></nowiki></code> referring to it. Someone then removed the <code><nowiki><ref name="foo">...</ref></nowiki></code> but left the <code><nowiki><ref name="foo"/></nowiki></code>, which results in a <strong class="error">big red error</strong> in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <code><nowiki><ref name="foo"/></nowiki></code> with a copy of the <code><nowiki><ref name="foo">...</ref></nowiki></code>; I ''did not'' re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the ''remaining'' instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove '''all''' instances of the named reference so as to not leave any <strong class="error">big red error</strong>.

If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Also, please post an error report at User talk:AnomieBOT so my operator can fix me! If the error is so urgent that I need to be stopped, also post a message at User:AnomieBOT/shutoff/OrphanReferenceFixer. Thanks! Postnominals

Please note that ADC comes ''after'' all honours. It shouldn't actually be included for retired or deceased people anyway, as it is only current when someone is a serving officer. -- Necrothesp (talk) 17:13, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
