Scott Munn
Hi mate,
I noticed the recent changes reverting Scott Munn’s biographical information back to incorrect details. The previous edits were made by immediate family with firsthand knowledge of his background, including his correct date and place of birth, upbringing in Nangwarry, and schooling.
Wikipedia works best when people are trying to improve accuracy rather than blindly reverting edits they clearly haven’t verified. Before changing it again, maybe take a moment to consider that not every piece of accurate information is already sitting in a newspaper article somewhere.
Happy to help source and verify the information properly if needed. Dancro1987 (talk) 08:51, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:For further clarity, Scott Munn was born on 29 July 1974 in Queanbeyan, NSW. His parents are William John Munn and Janette Sweeney (née Durrant, later Munn), and he has two older sisters, Cindy and Elizabeth. The family later relocated to Nangwarry in South Australia, where Scott played local football and cricket before attending Pembroke School in Adelaide.
:Professionally, he commenced with Canterbury of New Zealand before joining the organising committee for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, then moved into a commercial role with the NRL, followed by the AFL where he led the GC17 expansion project that became the Gold Coast Suns. He later became foundation CEO of Melbourne Heart before overseeing the transition into Melbourne City under the City Football Group structure, prior to later appointments in China and eventually Tottenham Hotspur.
:At this stage I am genuinely unsure how much more you would like me to provide before accepting that I am not simply making this up. The information being reverted is inaccurate, while the information I have added comes directly from immediate family knowledge. Dancro1987 (talk) 09:05, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:: But that is the issue. We are anonymous here on Wikipedia - so anyone can claim to be an expert on anything, without any proof of identity or credentials. I saw that you claimed here ↗ that you are personally related ↗ to the subject of the article, which is discouraged ↗.
:: For now, I have looked back at the sources and removed anything that might be contentious. If you still want to edit the article, read this ↗ and if you understand, scroll up and follow the instructions there. BrokenSquarePiece (complete me) 15:31, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:::More than happy to provide further information privately, including family tree records, as testament to the accuracy of the information I supplied.
:::I completely understand Wikipedia’s need for verification and sourcing standards, however in this day and age there is also a significant amount of inaccurate information online that simply gets repeated because it already exists in secondary reporting. My intention was not to promote or interfere with the article, only to correct factual inaccuracies and provide more accurate background information from direct family knowledge.
:::All I was attempting to do was apply fact and correct information that I know to be inaccurate. Dancro1987 (talk) 13:16, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
::::I'm not an expert on this kinda thing so you should instead ask at the Teahouse ↗ (← click/tap here to go there). More experienced people will help you there. BrokenSquarePiece (complete me) 14:09, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
