25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style ↗ that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in :List of highest-paid film actors ↗, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page ↗ to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.<!-- Template:uw-mos1 --> Betty Logan (talk) 22:37, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
:Hi, and thank you for the message. While I do my best to follow and learn from the MOS, I'm just a little confused on what the issue with these edits are? As I said in my revert of your rollback, this is a common feature of most infoboxes and can be found on many FL's (such as Timeline of prehistoric Scotland ↗, List of Padma Bhushan award recipients (1960–1969) ↗, and List of North Carolina hurricanes (1900–1949) ↗). The MOS clearly states that infoboxes may have relinks if helpful, and I would argue such a case here, as they promote uniformity and ease of reading. I have added links to infoboxes before (including an FL) with no issues from senior users or admins. <span style="color:orange;">'''BrotherGunk'''</span> (talk) 23:23, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
::Please try to understand that editing practices are defined by the Manual of Style, not by what has been permitted at other articles. The guidelines advise that terms should only be linked at most once per major section, per MOS:REPEATLINK ↗, in order to avoid a WP:SEAOFBLUE ↗. This is the starting point for determining what should be linked. There are exceptions to this: ''links '''may''' be repeated in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes and hatnotes if they are helpful''. I do not accept your argument that over-linking promotes "uniformity and ease of reading"; if this were the case the MOS would require all linked terms in the body to be also linked in these supplementary elements. The starting position of the MOS is to not repeat links, so the onus is on those who seek to repeat links to make the case that such linking would offer further benefit. Arguments that I have seen and which I accept:
::* Linking terms in the infobox, because they are often encountered first by the reader of an article;
::* Repeating links in ''sortable'' (but not unsortable) tables, because the order changes.
::* Repeating links in footnotes because footnotes are often not encountered sequentially;
::* Repeating links in templates (especially navboxes), since this is their purpose;
::* Linking terms in captions if the image is not in close proximity to the already linked term.
::The captions at List of highest-paid film actors ↗ do not fit any of these criteria. The images are adjacent to a table where all of these names are already linked. Betty Logan (talk) 11:31, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
:::@Betty Logan This makes sense. I realize now that I had some misunderstandings about infobox linking and that the cases I linked (and the cases I have edited) were only linked in the list once. I have another question, if you don't mind: in line with the first rule you mentioned, would it be applicable to link the actor mentioned in the body text? Appreciate your advice and help, thank you. <span style="color:orange;">'''BrotherGunk'''</span> (talk) 14:25, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
::::If the body text comes before the table then it's fine to link. If the body text comes after the table then generally no. Generally we link first occurrence. Betty Logan (talk) 15:25, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
:::::@Betty Logan Cool, was just wondering what first occurrence applied there. Thank you! <span style="color:orange;">'''BrotherGunk'''</span> (talk) 15:44, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

:Sorry about that, just totally slipped my mind. I do still think it's a typo? I checked the photographers Instagram page and they spell it "photography" so might need fixing. Either way, apologies. <span style="color:orange;">'''BrotherGunk'''</span> (talk) 14:32, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
