The Office (US) ↗ edits

Hey, just about your adding of the British equivalents to the cast list. I'm not too sure if those really belong there. This article is for the NBC version of The Office- as it's own seperate television series. There's already a comparison of the characters with their equivalents in The Office ↗ (this article is about the actual series- not either specific version.) New Sports-Wiki

Hey ChicosBailBonds (great name). I noticed that you seemed to be passionate about the sports, so I thought you would be interested in this project a couple of my buddies and I started. A couple of friends and I (a bunch of guys from New York City) modified the Mediawiki engine (which runs Wikipedia) to create a new sports wiki. Every non-protected page is editable, and the site allows anyone to post up news stories (wiki-news) and write sports opinions (blog) with associated commenting (on the same page as the news and opinion with the ability of admins to delete trolling comments). We also wrote some cool extensions so that users can vote on pages they like and those pages with the most votes get filtered to the front page of the site--that way the best news and opinion stories rise to the top. Since more people will see the articles, more people will edit them and polish them up, hopefully increasing an articles reliability and quality.

Edit to Happy Chandler

Thanks for your recent edit to Happy Chandler ↗. For the moment, I have reverted the edit. Let me explain my rationale. First, the article is currently at good article ↗ status. I have tried to keep it meticulously referenced in order to maintain (and one day improve) that status. The edit you added was not supported by the source used to cite the original paragraph. That said, what I know about Chandler suggests that your edit is quite likely accurate. If you would be so kind as to provide a reliable source ↗ for the information, I would gladly allow the edit to remain.

On that note, I've been looking for someone with knowledge of Chandler's tenure as commissioner of baseball to help expand that section of his article. I think the article is very close to featured status ↗, but I doubt it would meet the comprehensiveness requirement without expanding the baseball commissioner section. Of course, any additions would need to be cited appropriately. Would you be willing to help expand this section and try to help me take the article to featured status?

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference ↗. Please see here ↗ for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page ↗ and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the '''African Destubathon ↗''' which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section.
