August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive ↗ reminder

The August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive ↗ is at the halfway mark, and has seen incredible progress, dropping the backlog from 638 to 359 unreviewed articles -- a '''43.7%''' reduction in only fifteen days! But we still have over two weeks to go, and there are plenty of articles left to review:

And remember: if you've done reviews, you should log them at the backlog drive page for points, so they can be tracked towards your awards at the end.

Thanks for signing up for the drive, and I hope to see you reviewing! <b style="color:black">Vaticidal</b><b style="color:#66023C">prophet</b> 02:01, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Taking a break

Hi there! I'm about to get into a pretty busy time in my life, and so I've decided to at least take a long break from mentorship for the time being (or else quit and rejoin when I can). I wanted to let you know before I disappear, and also tell you to still feel free to drop a message on my talk page any time{{snd}}you just won't be able to use the "ask a question" feature to navigate to my talk, and I will probably take longer than usual to respond. And really, you're getting to the point you don't need a lot of mentorship anymore{{snd}}you're learning your way around pretty well. I'll still be happy to see you around, though, and I don't intend to be gone completely or for good. Anyway, well done on your Wikipedia work, and, as always, happy editing ~ Perfect4th (talk) 05:34, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

:Hey @Perfect4th!
:Thanks for everything:) and I wish you all the best in all your other endeavors. I'll see you around! Chilicave (talk) 20:22, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Bhagavad Gita

Hi @Chilicave - Thanks for making lot of contribution in Hinduism related pages. I just want to mention that I saw your edits on the Bhagavad Gita page and did manual revert for couple of edits around the term "results". I haven't read the cited sources yet where the edits are made, but BG does differentiate results, fruits, and rewards. results is ''phala'' (outcome of action), fruits is ''karma-phala'' (not only immediate, but future lives as well), rewards is ''punya'' or praise (positive recognition). Asteramellus (talk) 12:17, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

:Hello @Asteramellus,
:Ah, I see. When first reading the information, "results, fruits and rewards" all seemed like generic terms. Now that you have specified, it makes sense. One suggestion though: could this extra information be added in as a footnote for readers?
:Cheers Chilicave (talk) 22:59, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
::@Chilicave yes, I think it would be helpful, with citation. Asteramellus (talk) 01:40, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Deities section

Hi @Chilicave I saw you created a section for Deities again on the BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi page and moved the content (that I had merged into Architecture section) from Architecture section to Deities. I had moved it to Architecture because the section for Deities had just few lines and not worth having its own section since it can easily fit into the Architecture section. I saw you noted in comment that different in Architecture and Deities - but I am wondering if it makes sense to have it's own section? Asteramellus (talk) 22:16, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

:Hey @Asteramellus,
:It makes sense that these two are kept as different sections. Deities or murtis cannot be considered as architecture within Hinduism. Architecture ↗ reminds us of a building or structure. However, murtis ↗ are seen as a sacred image of God and venerated as though it is God Himself.
:For further clarity, I've added links to those definitions. Chilicave (talk) 02:22, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
::@Chilicave yes makes sense. Didn't really think much about the differences when I moved - I mainly moved thinking it was just too short and might be more readable along with architecture section. Asteramellus (talk) 13:44, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to ''' the region of South Asia ↗ (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

If you have any questions about contentious topics <em>procedures</em>, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template. </p>}}<!-- Derived from Template:Contentious topics/alert/first --> <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS; font-size:100; style=color:blue"> '''THEZDRX'''</span> <span style="font-family:Arial; font-size:92; style=color:black">(User) | </span>(Contact) 04:11, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

GA Backlog Drive

Hello @Chilicave, thank you for picking up the Sammamish River GA to review with me for the backlog drive! How would you like to review my work? Should I tag you before I make my final decision? <span style="padding:2px 4px;background-color:#CCFFCC;font-family:serif;"><em style="color:#333;padding:2px;">'''Chao Garden'''</em> 🌱 ~ <em style="color:#333;">say hello</em></span> 01:58, 6 June 2026 (UTC)

:OH I just realized you did reply in the GA review page. Sorry, I think your signature was left off, so I missed the comment. Maybe when you have a sec, you could add your signature? I think your comment was placed in the middle of my first reply. Thank you again, I really appreciate your time. <span style="padding:2px 4px;background-color:#CCFFCC;font-family:serif;"><em style="color:#333;padding:2px;">'''Chao Garden'''</em> 🌱 ~ <em style="color:#333;">say hello</em></span> 02:03, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
::@Chao Garden, added! Thank you so much for the reminder.

:::@Chilicave Sounds good! I'm currently waiting on a response from the nominator, and I'll definitely ping you before the final decision. And actually, when you have a moment, I was wondering if you could take a look at my suggestions for additional coverage in the article and let me know if you agree, or if you think I'm asking too much? Hindu Mythology under "Open Tasks" in Wikipedia Project Hinduism

Hi @Chilicave, There is a section in Wikipedia Project Hinduism called "Open Tasks." The subset on Hindu mythology has some articles that are only 1 or 2 paragraphs and some that are literally just one sentence. I have messaged about this on the Wikipedia Hinduism talk page. Would you be interested in going through this list with me and expanding, deleting, or merging these articles to cross them off the "Open Tasks" list one by one? It definitely does not make sense to have articles on very minor figures of Hindu mythology that are so short. It would be more useful to add that same information in the context of the text or relevant myth article. Let me know in any case! Hemmingweigh (talk) 03:15, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

:@Hemmingweigh sure, let me take a look and I'll correspond on the project page if I have any questions. Chilicave (talk) 03:38, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
