Hello, the bot promoted the MCU phase three topic, but for some reason it didn't close/archive the nomination or remove the nomination templates from any of the articles' talk pages when it did promote it. I can manually remove them, but just letting you know for near future promotions that the bot isn't doing all of the normal stuff for some reason. -- '''<span style="background:#E03A3E; color:#000000; padding:2px;">Zoo</span><span style="background:#000000; color:#E03A3E; padding:2px;">Blazer</span>''' 19:50, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

::Courtesy link: Wikipedia:Good topics/Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three films ↗. I don't see that in the bot's log at User:NovemBot/Task1Log. But NovemBot created the page Wikipedia:Good topics/Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three films ↗. Really weird. According to the bot's error logs, which aren't timestamped for some reason (bad ToolForge/PHP), there's some HTTP errors in there which might be from this run. If so, that suggests that Wikipedia was down at the time the bot tried to edit, which would explain why this run didn't make it into the Task1Log at all.
::That's unlucky. The bot actually does a "dry run" of reading pages and generating what it would submit but not submitting it first. So Wikipedia was probably up for the dry run, then went down during the real run.
::I guess the fix would be to add some retry logic when an HTTP Error is encountered. But probably not worth the engineering time unless this happens more frequently. I'll create a ticket and leave it in the backlog I guess. –<span style="color:blue">'''Novem Linguae'''</span> <small>(talk)</small> 21:47, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

Happy Easter ↗! - his oratorio for TFA -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:19, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
Did you know that the article became FA because I was sooo frustrated that neither DYK nor OTD accepted it for Easter last year, the 300th anniversary, and you helpd in the process - thank you! I have a FAC open ↗, in case of interest, 300 on 14 May. There's little hope for a TFA that day (something else pending that is ready and has a 75th anniversary), but I would like it in best shape by then. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:03, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Today's FA is Bridge ↗, - a broad topic by many. My father loved bridges, and I wrote a few articles with that in mind (Empress Elisabeth Bridge ↗, adding to Chain bridge ↗ and Müngsten Bridge ↗, the latter for childhood memory), and also thinking of bridges between people. - I brought two bios to the same page ↗, Christian Schwarz-Schilling ↗ and Bill Ramsey ↗ whose regular ''Swingtime'' I used to hear in the car driving to choir rehearsals ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:51, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
Elements of Style
I was hasty in nominating Mozart ↗ for GA. (I nominated it on his 270th birthday. Perhaps not a good reason, but my reason.)
Mozart merits a GA. If it's not there, let's get it there! I have tried to follow "show, don't tell". We were told that "Mozart was a versatile composer who composed in every genre." But someone who composed in every genre is by definition versatile.
Rosen's ''The Classical Style ↗'' is an invaluable reference. Charlie Faust (talk) 16:52, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
:@Charlie Faust thanks for your message. Of course Mozart deserves a nice article. At the moment, I'm afraid my attention is on Bach (see User:Aza24/Bach music), and to add Mozart to the rotation right now would probably be tricky! I'm not sure what the timeline for Bach looks like for me at the moment. '''<span style="font-family:Lucida;"><span style="color:darkred">Aza24</span><span style="color:#848484"> (talk)</span></span>''' 21:59, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
::Well, not just a nice article, a Good Article (per the robust standards of WP).
::Take your time. These things can't be rushed.
::Lately I've been rereading Harold C. Schonberg's ''The Lives of the Great Composers''. It's chockablock with good anecdotes. Hearing Variations on “Là ci darem la mano” (1827), Schumann (or rather his alter-ego Eusebius) exclaimed “Hats off gentlemen, a genius!” I also recommend ''Beethoven For a Later Age'' by Edward Dusinberre of the Takács Quartet, based in my hometown.
::Listening to Alisa Weilerstein play the Sarabande from the Bach Cello Suite No. 6 right now. Charlie Faust (talk) 23:08, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
:::@Charlie Faust Ha! I am listening to Bach No. 6 right now as well, but it is the English Suite No. 6! In any case, I appreciate your patience, and yes a Good Article is a fine goal.
:::The Schonberg book is a treasure, although I would caution in citing it on Wikipedia (it is more for exclusively general audiences, whereas the Rosen is more a bridge between academia and the public). I have not heard of the Dusinberre book but adore the Takács quartet, so it sounds worth a read. '''<span style="font-family:Lucida;"><span style="color:darkred">Aza24</span><span style="color:#848484"> (talk)</span></span>''' 00:21, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Fair, Schonberg is mostly interested in the lives of the great composers rather than technical aspects of their works. Still, it's valuable. I also enjoyed Anthony Tomassini's ''The Indispensable Composers''. (Like Schonberg, Tomassini was chief classical music critic for ''The New York Times''.) Rosen was clearly brilliant.
::::What are some of your favorite recordings? I like Glenn Gould's Bach, idiosyncrasies and all. Charlie Faust (talk) 14:51, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::@Charlie Faust, the Tommasini book is great! I wrote his article ↗ a while back (and began to work on Schonberg's but became distracted).
:::::I have been listening to the Robert Levin's English Suites, although I have been told that he is apparently quite an unpleasant person (although his playing ''is'' quite pleasant!). I love Gould for the WTC; but for the more famous English Suites (2 & 3), Pogorelich's recordings are incredible.
:::::If you like these writings on the lives of composers, you may like a more direct look, like this seemingly rare interview with Tchaikovsky ↗—I am reminded of it every once and a while. ::::::I finished rereading Aaron Copland's ''What to Listen For In Music''. Unpretentious, like its author.
::::::Shakespeare ↗, a Featured Article, notes his influence on music. For Beethoven, I think it would be worth noting his influence on literature. Eliot's ''Four Quartets'', certainly, and another Nobel laureate, Romain Rolland (who I haven't read. Shame on me.)
::::::Rosen's book is a treasure. The titlular triumvirate deserve GAs. Charlie Faust (talk) 00:29, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

The 2026 Core Contest has begun!
The Core Contest ↗ has begun! You have until May 31 (23:59 UTC) to make eligible changes. Although you are most welcome (and encouraged) to continue working on the article, changes after May 31 will not be considered for rankings or prizes.
We are now about a week in, and it's worth sharing some issues we judges have noticed in the past:
- '''Understandability ↗''' is extra important for big topics like these. Avoid jargon ↗ when possible; give context (and of course, citations), even for things that seem obvious ↗; and always consider the age-old adage from {{noping|Iridescent}}: ''"would a bright 14-year old with no prior knowledge of the topic understand this?"''
- '''The source, the whole source, and nothing but the source.''' Instead of asking "what do I want to say in this article", ask yourself: "what do most high-quality, reliable and recent sources say about this topic?"
- Take a '''global perspective ↗''' whenever possible. If you're writing about someone from France, consider looking at recent, high-quality sources in French. Amid language barriers, consider the careful use of an online translation tool or <small>*shudder*</small> a language dictionary.
- '''Plan, plan, plan!''' Make an outline, a draft TOC, or some kind of gameplan. Big articles are a different beast, and it's worth figuring out structural and logistical aspects early on.
Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24. – '''<span style="font-family:Lucida;"><span style="color:darkred">Aza24</span><span style="color:#848484"> (talk)</span></span>''' 00:08, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Augustus as a Good Topic
Hello, and thanks for letting me know about my nomination for Augustus ↗ being promoted as a Good Topic. However, it seems as though there's still a missing page for it here: Creating Wikipedia:Featured topics/Augustus ↗, per the talk pages of each of the topic articles. Not sure if that's normal on the first day it's promoted and if a bot comes around and fixes that issue automatically, or if it has to be filled in manually. If it's the latter then I thought I should let you know!
Also, nice work showing the paintings by Chinese artists Zhao Mengfu and Chen Rong. Coincidentally both the Han dynasty ↗ and the Song dynasty ↗ are some of my Featured topics. ;) Cheers. <strong><span style="color: blue;">Pericles of Athens</span></strong><span style="color: #0000CD;">Talk</span> 17:22, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:@PericlesofAthens thanks for the notice, this should be sorted. We have been slowly trying to modernize the FGTC technical system (previously, all Good Topics were named "Featured Topic", confusing right?), but updating the template fell through the cracks it seems.
:I believe we've spoken briefly in the past (you had helped me with Cai Lun ↗), but I was glad to see your recent updating on the Han dynasty ↗ article. I completely rewrote the List of Chinese monarchs ↗ a few years ago (went from zero citations to 500+!), and may call on your advice later this year for an FL push, if that is okay? Hi Aza; you had previously mentioned coming back to Bach at about this time; Gerda had some thoughts about how to start moving the article forward with your edits. Any plans for returning to the article? ErnestKrause (talk) 23:23, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
:Hey @ErnestKrause, yes, I am looking to put some time aside this upcoming week to work on Bach. Going to keep working on adding more content on St. Matthew and John Passion, which are currently limited to a passing mention. :::Hmm, well I'm hoping to wrap the main content additions up sometime before July, since that is when my IRL work picks up. We need to very thoroughly go through the biography and legacy sections too at some later point, but I don't think any major rewrites/additions like the music section are necessary there.
:::I would also like to individually reach out to a few Wikipedians to give it a read at another PR before FAC. :::::::My only plan right now is to keep working on the music section. frameless|right|upright=0.8|The Developing Countries WikiContest Gold Belt Buckle ↗
Hey Aza24, the Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ is back for a third year, and '''sign-ups are now open ↗'''! The contest will run from 1{{nbsp}}July to 30{{nbsp}}September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗.
Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner {{user|Generalissima}}; and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules ↗; discussion can be found on the contest talk page ↗.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: {{user|Arconning}}, {{user|Generalissima}}, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}, {{user|sawyer777}}, or {{user|TechnoSquirrel69}}. <small>(To unsubscribe from these updates, remove yourself from this list ↗. Still learning!
Don't you worry, you are not.
Concerning your remark about my life, I updated the article of Inna Žvaneckaya and everything was ruined by a censorship combo here, very likely because I had to mention certain circumstances during her least years, when a German judge tried to send her to a psychiatry which automatically meant to force her to medical experiments which she was not willing to do (her father was a Jewish doctor from an Odessa dynasty of doctors, he once helped the red army during WW2, and as a person of common sense he found it a bad idea to participate in such experiments). You find on my user page the link to the fine article which was vandalised, and last year I thought that I will never write anything again here. But the article was not about the Covid period and the sad role that wikipedia played in it, it was about a Jewish girl in Ukraine whose musical talent was discovered and she did what everyone did in Russia under her circumstances: she moved to Moscow to get properly educated first as piano teacher, but also soon as a composer. Later after the fall of the wall she moved to Stuttgart in Germany and there she also died a few years ago. It is so completely grotesque (in a way that only a Nikolay Gogol' could imagine) what happened in her life. In Germany she always felt in exile, but it made the German period of her life so extremely productive (she composed more than during any other period), and then at the very end of her life this scandal happened, and she was hidden by other Ukrainians to prevent that from happening and they succeeded! There is only one thing which is even more grotesque, it is the way how certain people here have not even the stomach to face up what has happened. They tried to turn the clock back. Today Gogol' would write about wikipedians, they have so many in common with decadent Tsarist officers.
But I am not that naive to be surprised about what happened. Here (in any wikipedia whatever the language is) are many thugs from the deep state who discovered that wikipedia is perfect to wash brains. Usually with these topics you do not remark them, but they are here and you can learn from the discussion page, how to deal with them (never get involved in a real argument, because they have no arguments, do it the wikipedian way and tell them about where they find the so-called "rules", they are just scared about any real content). Just think of Larry Sanger, a lot of people who once created wikipedia with great enthusiasm, are no longer willing to contribute here, because it has become a portal of mean bullshitters, and many of the founders here have given up. You should feel important, because people like you are the real soul of wikipedia. These thugs they will destroy everything…
No, it is not that I can go back and forth. I have worked for many years to know what I know, because it is my job, and sometimes it suits better to my life to continue with Aquitanian than with Byzantine music, the circumstances which dictated that are purely coincidental. That is all! I will continue this answer on my profile. Platonykiss (talk) 16:06, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
:Sorry about your frustrating experience. It is probably difficult, generally, to write about Žvaneckaya, since I have not seen many sources which cover her, at least compared to her contemporaries. Continuing this on your talk page. '''<span style="font-family:Lucida;"><span style="color:darkred">Aza24</span><span style="color:#848484"> (talk)</span></span>''' 03:34, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
::Well, wikipedia has always been an extremely frustrating place to be honest, but this time I was really glad for the stupidity they were willing to commit, because now we really got them! They are your worst enemies here, in science and humanities enemies are the most generous and most precious present you can get in an academic environment (it is a very positive thing as long as they stay enemies and they are always clever, not easy to bare for someone who has no guts), but everybody here must face the problem of hypocrisy with the strong will to erase the memory of the victims—their victims, just because they were the ones who submitted the crimes against them. That is why I call them thugs, because that is what they really are, and not by coincidence you can so easily recognise them by their manners! Platonykiss (talk) 07:19, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

I have nominated John Millington Synge ↗ for a featured article review here ↗. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured article criteria ↗, or help improve the article. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" in regard to the article's featured status (see review instructions ↗).<!--Template:FARMessage--> George Ho (talk) 22:38, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
The 2026 Core Contest Winners!
The winners of the 2026 Core Contest ↗ are announced 🎉. A ''huge'' turnout that resulted in one of our trickiest deliberation sessions. The judges ({{noping|Aza24}}, {{noping|Femke}} and {{noping|Casliber}}) would like to thank everybody who joined and congratulate the winners!
- First place (and a prize of £120) goes to {{user|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}} for his dual efforts on Flatbread ↗ and Tortilla ↗! One, formerly an unsourced list-like article, and the other, once a poorly sourced and spotty overview, both now number 250+ citations from an impressively academic source pool. We particularly commend the efforts to globalize content, treat the topics comprehensively and thoughtfully select illustrations. Both articles (one now a GA ↗) are of a uniquely high quality amid the often underserved food topics on Wikipedia. Bravo!
- Second place (and a prize of £100) goes to {{user|Phlsph7}}, a Core Contest regular who has once again shown a mastery of big topics, with his dual efforts on Agnosticism ↗ and Premise ↗—both now GA ↗s (one, with a review by our first place winner!). With immensely thorough sourcing improvements, alongside carefully nuanced text on these often misunderstood topics, both articles are a pleasure to read.
- Third place (and a prize of £80) goes to {{user|MCE89}}, whose improvements to the Heard Island and McDonald Islands ↗ article have led to a triumphant FA ↗ declaration. The incredible balance of detail between human, geographical and flora-fauna elements is a great achievement, and sets a high standard for future island articles.
