Combined authorities article changes

Hi there

Thanks for your recent edits to the Combined authorities article. I personally agree with the changes you have made today, but I just wanted to flag that there is an open Requested Move discussion underway at the moment (that I started asking for the article to be re-titled to ‘Strategic authorities’).

Because of this, I had deliberately avoided changing references to the article title in the article text until the RM closes (i.e. changing ‘combined authorities’ to ‘strategic authorities’).

Nothing wrong with your edits in principle (and I hope we end up agreeing to use the term ‘strategic authorities’ in line the current government Bill that has now passed both Houses). Once the RM is resolved, we can update the article text in line with the outcome.

Because of waiting for the RM outcome, I have tried to update the article to distinguish between the general idea of combined authorities in England (GLA, CAs, and CCAs) and the specific legal status under the 2009 act of a “Combined Authority (CA)”, with or without a mayor.

I’m aware that this reads as a bit clunky (hence I’m hoping the article can be renamed after the RM closes). So far, most comments on my request are opposed, so please add a comment on the article Talk if you agree with me.
