InsideNorthside - A North Minneapolis Encyclopedia
Hi, I noticed you've edited some articles related to North Minneapolis and I wanted to tell you about a project I'm involved in called InsideNorthside. It's basically a wikipedia for North Minneapolis, built on wikispaces (which is a bit more user-friendly then mediawiki, though not nearly as robust).
Anyways, wanted you to know. I'm trying to find some wiki experts to help build an initial user base for the site. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :Islamic Relief USA ↗
48px|left ↗ A tag has been placed on :Islamic Relief USA ↗, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam ↗ as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business ↗ for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard ↗.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>{{tl|hangon}}</code> to '''the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion ↗''' (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on '''the talk page ↗''' explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for ''speedy'' deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins ↗ to request that they userfy ↗ the page or have a copy emailed to you.<!-- Template:Db-spam-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> <span style="color:White;background:Maroon"><b>Leuko</b></span> Talk/Contribs ↗ 14:55, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Tagging articles as paid
Hi! I see you've proposed deletion of Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics ↗ and Health Care Compliance Association ↗. Thank you for doing so!
A) There's no requirement to enable Twinkle ↗ on your account. But, if you do, it can handle PRODs, and notifying article creators, semi-automatically for you.
B) Twinkle can also semi-automatically tag articles with {{tl|notability}} and {{tl|undisclosed paid}}. When I nominate an article for PROD or CSD, I often add both tags. In case my deletion nomination fails, at least readers and editors might now know that the article may be a paid puff piece.
Cheers, —Unforgettableid (talk) 23:34, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
:Thanks for the suggestion, {{reply to|Unforgettableid}}. I don't venture into the deletion policy area very much and it's been many years since I suggested a PROD so I'm unfamiliar with the best tools to use. I would appreciate your insight on what to do with this pair of articles.
:*Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics ↗ was proposed for CSD, had the PROD removed, and has been reverted to a previous version that has references, but all of the references are press releases or from the organization's website.
:*Prior to the PROD, Health Care Compliance Association ↗ underwent a similar revision as Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics ↗ by the same editor (Special:Contributions/173.11.55.148 ↗) to a advertising version. The previous version with references also only has press releases and primary references.
:I would assume it's best to bring Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics ↗ to AFD now. Is it best to revert Health Care Compliance Association ↗ to a previously poorly referenced version, then re-propose PROD or directly submit to AFD? I'm pinging {{reply to|AllyD}} too because they removed the PROD and reverted the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics ↗ article to a previous version. - Eóin (talk) 14:23, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
::{{u|Eóin}}: No worries! I think it'd be best to leave Health Care Compliance Association ↗ as-is for now. I hope your PROD will succeed. —Unforgettableid (talk) 15:56, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
::* I did think of reverting :Health Care Compliance Association ↗ to a previous version, but considered it too promotional prior to the IP changes, so left the PROD in place. I have no strong feelings in favour or against the :Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics ↗ article: the PROD went as a by-product of the reversion to a prior "safe" state, as did part of its rationale, but an AfD may be appropriate. AllyD (talk) 18:28, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
Andersen Corporation
Hi again!
It's thoughtful of you to have put in all that effort on cleaning up Andersen Corporation ↗. But the real root cause of the problem is not just any puffery which exists now. Perhaps the real root cause of the problem is that there are too few watchers ↗. Even if you remove puffery now, more puffery will probably appear and remain in the future.
I've been around for more than a decade, and my watchlist is a bit of a disaster; I usually tend not to watch it.
Permanent semi-protection might help; but the semi-protection policy is a bit strict. I suspect the paid editing is too infrequent to make permanent semi-protection an option.
I'm curious why you want the Andersen article kept. I think Wikipedia would still be a reasonable encyclopedia even without it. In my opinion, we have more important things to do than keep a close eye on the Andersen article.
Cheers, —Unforgettableid (talk) 00:37, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
:It's unfortunate that it possible for puffery to reappear and stick around for too long. Ultimately, I don't think too few watchers is a valid reason to delete an article. I think that's just the nature of some articles with specialized/local interest. For example, I used to frequently edit high school articles and they are especially prone to vandalism and have few regular watchers. While I'm able to easily look through my watchlist I've built over the last 10 years, I've regularly gone for long stretches without editing so close supervision of articles like this is not guaranteed. I agree that semi-protection is unlikely. When I look at the article history, I see two large incidents of promotional editing, one of which was relatively quickly cleaned up (certainly not to ideal standards) in September 2014 and the most recent which has stuck around for the last two years. I don't think two egregious incidents in 12 years justifies deleting an article I believe to be notable.
:My interest in keeping the Andersen article is because it's a very large company in the Twin Cities area and I frequently see new stories on TV and in the paper. I've never used their products and I likely never will, but the frequent number of times I see them discussed in regional media show me it's notable enough for a Wikipedia article. It's unfortunate the company or employees seem to have been encouraging paid, promotional editing, but I don't think that justifies removing the article. -Eóin (talk) 14:59, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

The article Marq2 transit corridor ↗ you nominated as a good article ↗ has passed 20px|link= ↗; see Talk:Marq2 transit corridor ↗ for comments about the article, and Talk:Marq2 transit corridor/GA1 ↗ for the nomination. Wednesday, January 15, 2025 Minnesota User Group Meeting and 2025 Wikipedia Day Celebration
{{Minnesota meetup/2025-01-15}}
::Myotus (talk) 23:58, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
A fellow Minnesota transit enthusiast!
Hello! I recently got into editing Wikipedia and I love public transportation! Outside of Wikipedia I advocate for public transportation in local government and I'm usually up to date on the latest and greatest in the twin cities transit/biking world. And we're also named similarly named! (albeit different spellings) If you ever want to collaborate or need help with transit stuff, let me know! I just did a big overhaul of the Bottineau LRT wiki page, mainly relating to the stuff that's happened in the last couple of years relating to it (I can't say I have enough knowledge about planning stuff from 10 years ago, nor did I have the time to fix some of those dead links!). I also updated the KML route map (sorry I didn't put a description of my change). Since I'm relatively new in all this, I'm very open to tips about writing that I've done for Wikipedia. Good to meet you! Owen (talk) 10:17, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
:{{reply to|Owen peugeot}} Thank you for your edits! It can be difficult to keep pages updated with so many projects happening so I appreciate everyone that can help. I've always struggled with the KML updates so I'm impressed you figured it out in so few edits.
:I have been thinking that eventually we might want to rename the Bottineau LRT project as the Blue Line Extension. I noticed the Met Council and local media have been referring to it more often as the Blue Line extension rather than as Bottineau. But I don't think we need to rush to do so.
:I can appreciate a good Peugeot. My favorite ride is still my 10-speed Schwinn. Eóin (talk) 01:39, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks! I also agree with your comment, it is almost never referred to as Bottineau LRT these days, so I think at some point a rename would be the right move! And bravo on the Schwinn, I originally had a 10 speed Schwinn Varsity myself until I traded it with someone else for my Peugeot. Owen (talk) 01:53, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
Help with routemaps
Hi! I've been editing some transportation stuff on and off for a bit and I saw your edits on some transit articles (cool to see fellow twin cities planning and transit fans!!). Recently I started updating Metro (Minnesota) ↗ but I can't make heads or tails of the routemap template or the KML maps. I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice on this or editing in general! Thanks :) <span style="background-color:#FFD700">Not</span><span style="background-color:#00008B; color:#ffffff">Dragonius</span> (talk) 15:51, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
