About Hutchison China Meditech ↗ article
Hello, {{ping|AllyD}}!
I noticed your warning about posting my articles on Hutchison China Meditech and Hutchison MediPharma being a COI (Conflict of Interest). Please don't misinterpret my intentions!!! I am not hired or paid by the either companies to post these articles. I am merely a student who has gained an interest in the growing pharmaceutical industry in China. I decided to post articles of Hutchison China Meditech ans well as Hutchison MediPharma purely out of the my own interest. I believe that Hutchison China Meditech may very well be on the rise to being a major player in the Chinese pharmaceutical industry, and I merely wish that others interested in this company for the same or other reasons have access to a wikipedia page containing public information regarding the company. I hope that my wikipedia page will prove to be a more convenient option of learning about Hutchison China Meditech.

Hi. Thanks for your review and suggestions. I also notice that qTrace and qTest eXplorer should be merged but as a new wiki user I'm not too sure how to do it. For the qTest eXplorer page it is a renamed product so I feel it should be mentioned since qTrace no longer exists, yet the secondary sources for qTest eXplorer are not that many. Any suggestions on how can I re-write (or merge) the two articles and remove those tags?
For the proposed deletion of qTest. It's a major product of a company, there are lots of products in same category that have wiki pages, with length at that short, so I don't know why qTest got restricted. I tried to include only historic data and relevant information that someone of interest would want to know about qTest. I also tried to include some secondary sources as possible... Not too sure how to best write article as such since I made no attempt of advertising or so...
It will be much appreciated to let me know. Thank you. Tea Nguyen (talk) 3:30, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Regarding speedy delete of Onarbor page ↗
Hi AllyD, I created the page, Onarbor ↗, and would like to fix it such that it will be acceptable to be published on Wikipedia. Onarbor.com ↗ is my website and company. Our business model is based off of Kickstarter that is why I used Kickstarter's wiki page as a guide to developing our wiki page. I apologize for cutting and pasting kickstarter's page in order to create Onarbor's page. I took a break from finishing Onarbor's page before removing the blatant copyrighting without realizing that Wikipedia editors would delete it so quickly before I had a chance to finalize it. My sincere apologies, this is the 1st wikipedia page I've ever created.
I've re-submitted the Onarbor ↗ page to address the copyrighting. I've removed all references that were Kickstarter-specific and changed the sentence-structure and wording to be unique to Onarbor. Hopefully this will be more in line with Wikipedia's policies.
Again, I'm truly sorry about this. Thank you,
Tim Peterson ↗ User:Trpeters1

Interview invitation from a Wikipedia researcher in University of Minnesota
Hello AllyD,
I am Bowen Yu, a Ph.D. student from GroupLens Research ↗ at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities ↗. Currently, we are undertaking a study about turnover (editors leaving and joining) in WikiProjects within Wikipedia. We are trying to understand the effects of member turnovers in the WikiProject group, in terms of the group performance and member interaction, with a purpose of learning how to build successful online communities in future. More details about our project can be found on this meta-wiki page ↗.
I would like to invite you for an interview if you are interested in our study and willing to share your experience with us. The interview will be about 30 - 45 minutes via either Skype or Google Hangout. You will receive a $10 gift card as compensation afterwards.
Please reach me at bowen@cs.umn.edu if you are interested or have any questions.
Thank you,
Bowen {{Talkback|Bobo.03}}

Maintenance template removal
Dear AllyD, thank you for the welcoming message. I used to edit and improve Wikipedia pages back in 2013,2014 and 2015. Now, I am back for my favourite hobby. Looking forward to improving more and more pages. I have read what is needed to be done, but unfortunately, cannot see why you put this. Could you be more specific? I have gone through it before deleting the Maintenance template. Checked for grammatical and other mistakes. Thank you for understanding.
New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022
Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}},
thumb|right|120px ↗
Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter ↗ finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of ''The Signpost'' ↗. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.
'''Awards''': Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to {{Noping|MPGuy2824}}), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to {{no ping|John B123}} for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page ↗. Check out the new Hall of Fame ↗ also.
'''Software news''': {{Noping|Novem Linguae}} and {{Noping|MPGuy2824}} have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here ↗. The reviewer report ↗ has also been improved.
thumb|450px|right|NPP backlog May – October 15, 2022 ↗
'''Suggestions''':
- There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
- Reminder: ''an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more.'' (from the NPP tutorial ↗)
- Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
- This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.
'''Backlog''':80px|left ↗ Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive ↗ to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

;Backlog
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to {{noping|WaddlesJP13}} who led with 2084 points. See this page ↗ for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
;2022 Awards
74px|left ↗
{{no ping|Onel5969}} won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. {{no ping|Rosguill}} led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page ↗ and the Hall of Fame ↗. Congratulations everyone!
'''Minimum deletion time''': The previous WP:NPP ↗ guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR ↗). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed ↗ are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
'''New draftify script''': In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page ↗. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js ↗ or vector.js file from <code>User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js</code> to <code>User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js</code>'''
'''Redirects''': Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide ↗, this checklist ↗, and spend some time at WP:RFD ↗.
'''Discussions with the WMF''' The PageTriage open letter ↗ signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches ↗ in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as {{noping|Novem Linguae}} and {{noping|MPGuy2824}} have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference ↗ with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

'''Backlog'''
'''Redirect drive''': In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with '''23851''' reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to '''0''' (momentarily). Congratulations to {{Noping|Hey man im josh}} who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by {{noping|Meena}} and {{noping|Greyzxq}} with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page ↗ for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
'''Redirect autopatrol''': All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here ↗.
'''WMF work on PageTriage''': The WMF Moderator Tools team ↗, consisting of {{noping|Samwalton9 (WMF)|label1=Sam|JSherman (WMF)|label2=Jason|SCardenas (WMF)|label3=Susana}}, and also some patches from {{noping|Jon (WMF)|label1=Jon}}, has been hard at work updating PageTriage ↗. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test ↗ where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed ↗, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR ↗ when we are ready for beta testers.
'''Articles for Creation (AFC)''': All new page reviewers are now '''automatically approved''' for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP ↗ like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script ↗, visit Special:Preferences ↗, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed ↗, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR ↗. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional ↗, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
'''Pro tip''': Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG ↗? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST ↗ 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Question from Sneglelakk (21:01, 21 January 2026)
Hello. I just made a minor change to the page on 'Ring strain' where a only single paragraph used double spacings after periods, so I changed them to single spacings purely for consistency.
Was this the right call? It looked a bit prettier as double spacings, but i thought maybe consistency was a standard here.
Thanks --Sneglelakk (talk) 21:01, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Sneglelakk}}, that should be fine with single space. Sometimes people import paragraphs with double space between sentences - possibly people like me who grew up with a typewriter and Gestetner sheet as the cutting edge of technology! A couple of situation where it is better to stick with the style of what's already in an article are date formats (dmy or my or ymd) and reference styles. AllyD (talk) 21:34, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

If so, reversion edit summaries such as ''"Ain’t happening kid"'' don't really help achieve consensus. The best place to resolve consensus is on the article Talk Page, where {{u|Ravensfire}} has pointed to issues of reliable sourcing ↗ and notability ↗. AllyD (talk) 21:39, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for the ping on this, AllyD! :::{{u|JoshuaParadeGuy}}, I don't understand your comment above, but it seems to be about another editor rather than a question about editing here. If so, it is really best not to comment about other editors on Wikipedia.
:::You also tried to delete this entire discussion from my user talk page. It is ok to delete discussions from one's own talk page (as you have been doing, though I hope you have taken on board the comments and link from {{u|Ravensfire}} there), but it is disruptive to refactor others' talk pages in this way. Question from Lapped7892 on Pride ↗ (13:53, 8 February 2026)
Hello AllyD, I hope all is well.
While making edits on an article ("Pride"), I came across an aside in an opening paragraph I felt was unnecessary. Rather than removing the sentence, I added an "Invisible Comment" at the end of it.
Is this approach useful and visible to other editors? Is there a better mechanism for opening a discussion around an edit? Thank you! --Lapped7892 (talk) 13:53, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Lapped7892}}, firstly, :Pride ↗ seems to me a poor article, due to it trying to blend currents of quite distinct usages across different times and places. I notice someone on its Talk page doubted that it should remain as a single article. Leaving that aside to focus on the matter of commentary, invisible in-text comments can be useful to avoid to-and-fro edits on differing UK/US singular/plural grammar (example in 1st sentence ↗) or in terms that look like common word typos (2nd paragraph here ↗). They are less useful for opening a discussion towards a consensus about whether to include or remove text, for which the article Talk page is better. AllyD (talk) 08:53, 9 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Spreadsheet Nerd (20:58, 13 February 2026)
Hi, AllyD, thank you for making yourself available as my mentor! Quick question on "list of people" type articles: What is the preferred format for those articles—to separate the people's names into one section for each letter, or to group them into sections covering multiple letters? For example, this article is organized by single letters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African-American_writers But this article is organized by groups of letters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mystery_writers Does it have to do with the overall total number of people in the list? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer! --Spreadsheet Nerd (talk) 20:58, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Spreadsheet Nerd}}, consolidating (A-D etc) would usually be a choice by the person creating the list, based on the list being short so that alpha headings would look distracting. If/when a list grows, as long as alphabetic order has been maintained (which it surprisingly often isn't), it is simple to break out into individual alpha headings. AllyD (talk) 21:22, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
::That makes sense, thank you! Spreadsheet Nerd (talk) 21:31, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from I TheScholar I (16:16, 14 February 2026)
Hi Ally,
I have been adding hyperlinks and now realize I was editing incorrectly after comparing two different articles. I emailed Nikkimaria and informed her of this. I realized that instead of adding two square brackets before and after the word, I needed to follow the specific editing structure. E.g. for the film genre drama, I now understand that the editing should be "drama film ↗"
Not so much a question as it is an introduction to myself. I will only edit on Wikipedia very rarely and sporadically. --I TheScholar I (talk) 16:16, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|I TheScholar I}}, linking using a "|" to separate the actual article link target from the text in a current article is very non-intuitive and all of us will have stumbled over that in early editing, so nothing to worry about there. AllyD (talk) 21:52, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
::I think I'll depart at the early editing stage. It is hugely disheartening to see a veteran editor reverting my edits which I did under AGF. I do not want to enter into a dispute with any veteran user and my intention was only to add missing hyperlinks! I TheScholar I (talk) 12:12, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
:::{{u|I TheScholar I}}, genres can be a minefield. Hyperlinks should be a way of getting a deeper understanding of a term, but some of these composite film genre terms don't, I feel, when they redirect to articles which barely mention the term. Were I closer to these film types, I might try to open Talk page discussion proposing better ways to understand the terms. But as it stands, I understand your frustration. I hope that other kinds of article improvements will occur to you. AllyD (talk) 18:46, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

:Hi {{u|Wikipedian reader 1234567}}, it is definitely the right thing to do, fixing or reverting an edit when the result looks weird. In this case, looking at this edit version ↗, there were 3 issues: (1) the overall "cite journal" needs to be wrapped in a <code><nowiki><ref>...</ref></nowiki></code> pair; (2) the access-date was ''17/Feb/2026'' which isn't a recognised format - ''17 February 2026'' is better; (3) line returns in the title and the quote: ''Rejuvenation of'' then ''Shahjahanabad '' on another line in the title, then again between ''"Old City"'' and ''of Delhi'' in the quote. (Copy-paste from a PDF often does this kind of thing). Adjusting these clears the red errors in the edit preview. AllyD (talk) 09:12, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from MrCuccu (15:44, 20 February 2026)
Hi, I have a new entry for Wikipedia. It's about Multisensorial Learning at School. It's based on published scientific researches and real experiences. How should I proceed to have it published? Thanks. --MrCuccu (talk) 15:44, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|MrCuccu}}, there's going to be several parts/stages to this reply. Firstly, I would always recommend becoming familiar with editing existing articles before creating a new article. Secondly, if looking to create an article, I recommend looking at existing articles in the topic area and considering how it fits and whether it should stand as a distinct article (as Wikipedia is uncomfortable with "orphan" articles). Thirdly, if you go ahead, (a) you can use this ↗ for the draft, and (b) be sure to follow WP:DISCLOSE ↗ if you have any external connection ↗ on the topic. The draft will then be considered through this process ↗. AllyD (talk) 21:58, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from MrCuccu (15:43, 22 February 2026)
Hi, can you have a look at the article and tell me how I can improve the editing? Thanks a lot.
Roberto --MrCuccu (talk) 15:43, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
:{{u|MrCuccu}}, from a look at User:MrCuccu/sandbox, it would be fine on, for example a personal site or blog, but it is a long way from the style guide here ↗. This is why my first recommendation above was to gain familiarity with the structures of existing articles. (Rather than wade through the manual of style, it may help to review the Learning styles ↗ article as an example from a not-distant topic.) The key issues would be (1) structural, (2) voice, as there is some we-voice text, and some content comes close to suggesting settings ↗, and (3) referencing. The English Wikipedia is firm on every assertion needing a 3rd party reference ↗, which can be quite an effort to add through a text. AllyD (talk) 18:25, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
::Hello, I have searched any previous entries on the same topic and there is only one, called Multisensory Learning. It is about the different theories about learning, but there is no practical example of how to implement this approach in schools. That is the difference between that entry and the possible contribution of the article I propose, that is oriented in applying multisensorial learning in practice, being aware of challenges. Anyway, if you are not interested in this contribution, just let me know. Roberto MrCuccu (talk) 15:24, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
:::{{u|MrCuccu}}, that :Multisensory learning ↗ article seems a good example of the Wikipedia approach to a topic. It delineates its scope, then goes into discussing research in the field, with some differing viewpoints - while supporting what is said with references out to published works. There are a couple of points where further references might be beneficial, but broadly it seems to cover the ground. (If you are aware of more studies that should be covered in the article, that is an editing opportunity.) What it isn't doing is providing a how-to guide ↗, which is problematic in any field. AllyD (talk) 11:29, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
::::Hello again, if you have an intellectual interest in the topic, that entry Multisensory Learning can be orientating. But if you put yourself in the shoes of a teacher, a parent or a teenager, they can’t find any guidelines to improve learning. They need practical examples of what to do and what not to do. So, if you think that it is better to keep the topic on a theoretical level, that’s OK. I can drop the request to publish this new entry on Multisensorial Learning in Practice. If you have second thoughts, just let me know. MrCuccu (talk) 13:27, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
::::Hello, as I have not received a reply to the question I posed in my last message, should I have to interpret it as you have no words to say about the choice I presented? Anyway, if there is no answer to my question in a few days I will delete the proposal for a new entry. ~2026-15688-30 ↗ (talk) 07:45, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
:::::The key points were in the links I provided in my earlier replies, particularly in my 18:25, 22 February 2026 reply. You haven't adjusted the draft since then, such as to change the we-voice or add inline references. The biggest concern, though, is appropriateness here, which is why I twice linked to WP:NOTHOWTO ↗ in my comments above. AllyD (talk) 22:29, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
::::::Well, I think it is not the right idea for me to publish this article in Wikipedia. I've published several books on learning and many scientific articles to help people understand the working of the learning mind.
::::::Thanks for you suggestions, but let's call it a day.

:Hi {{u|Randyahobbs}}, looking at your edit history, at the point when you asked this question, the Draft:Flalingo ↗ had superscripts rather than references, as you had copy-pasted the text from whichever app had created it. :''Note: Darryl.Kerkeslager's mentor Jenhawk777 is away.''
Hello. I just completed a draft biography article about W Baxter Perkinson, Jr, and was notified that it would be reviewed before publishing. I thought I had done the requisite number of edits? I've already published an article on a novel, and it was available immediately. Can you tell me why this is different? --Darryl.Kerkeslager (talk) 13:52, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Darryl.Kerkeslager}}, you created The Clone (novel) ↗ on 4th February directly in main space, which is fair enough - it can still be reviewed by a New Page Reviewer, which can trigger other actions. Earlier today you created Draft:W. Baxter Perkinson, Jr. ↗ Using the article wizard and the Articles for Creation ↗ process, which uses Draft space and an explicit process of comment and approval. AllyD (talk) 15:15, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you. It was not my intention to put it through the review process … is it too late to change that? Not that I think the article is perfect, but I am confident it meets the standards for notability, has adequate references, does not have conflicts of interest, remuneration or bias - the basics. Darryl.Kerkeslager (talk) 15:47, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
:::Okay, I found a link to Wikipedia:Moving_a_page#How_to_move_a_page, but is that 'acceptable'? Darryl.Kerkeslager (talk) 15:52, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
::::{{u|Darryl.Kerkeslager}}, you can indeed move the draft page. Looking at it, I didn't suggest that in this case, as it does strike me that the subject is certainly locally prominent but this doesn't always translate into notability here. There is a balance, so getting an AFC reviewer's opinion will be no bad thing in assessing that. AllyD (talk) 16:07, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Dd3r1n0 (16:22, 4 April 2026)
Hello AllyD,
I do have a question as I learn to properly edit. On one of my edits I noticed a citation in the wrong spot. It was a biography page and it was a simple sentence about when Harry was born, but the citation was actually his obituary. When I clicked on the link it went to a site that had old newspaper articles scanned but it was behind a paywall. So I only could remove the citation that was in the wrong place but I also thought it would be good to review the citation while I was looking at it. Do editors have to pay for their own subscriptions to sites like this to verify a citation especially one placed in the wrong spot on a bio? --Dd3r1n0 (talk) 16:22, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Dd3r1n0}}, interesting question on reference verification. It is good to check references, though many are paper-only which limits that, so there is inevitably a lot of taking things on trust. And of course paywalls and evaporating archives are a complete pain for this. Wikipedia has negotiated access to various publishers' resources through WP:TWL ↗, but to get that limits had to be agreed - broadly 6 months editing and 500 edits - which isn't wonderful for a new editor. I hoped to be able to check this particular one for you, but the library's newspaper access was showing as temporarily unavailable last night and still this morning. AllyD (talk) 07:01, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
::I am still struggling in the citation aspect of things. When I find a broken link my instinct is to not just delete the link and move on but to check it to see if there is an alternate. This usually ends in much wasted time down the internet rabbit hole of looking for another. I am now just deleting them but it is not satisfying :) Dd3r1n0 (talk) 16:25, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
:::{{u|Dd3r1n0}}, rather than removing it can be better to leave the reference in place but use Template:Dead link ↗? The traces of a former reference can be useful in trying to find an equivalent - a bit like archaeology! And sometimes dead refs do come back, after a website's transient problem. Question from Dd3r1n0 (15:05, 9 April 2026)
Hi there,
I was doing some edits and while I was reading the page to find the pieces that need updates someone else had made the changes to the page. If I click on the edit button does it lock the page or can simultaneous edits happen? --Dd3r1n0 (talk) 15:05, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Dd3r1n0}}, it does sometimes happen that one's edit clashes with someone else's. - especially for a "hot" ongoing topic. There isn't really page-locking but when you try to apply your edit just after someone else's. the software throws an Edit Conflict screen, showing what the page now looks like, and what had been your proposed edit. To be honest, when that happens to me, rather than try to resolve the situation on the Edit Conflict screen, I usually quickly copy my edit text, then open a fresh browser tab with the present page, where I re-paste my intended edit. Question from Nitrogenerate (18:39, 10 April 2026)
I just started editing, but I'm having trouble with replacing or editing text that has certain tones, like an opinion rather than informational. How should I edit them? --Nitroxide (talk) 18:39, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Nitrogenerate}}, the obvious point-of-view text involves superlatives that add nothing to understanding of the topic. Others are more subtle and awkward to adapt to standards ↗. In general, all I can suggest is gentle adjustment to replace opinion with referenced facts. AllyD (talk) 20:46, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

:Hi {{u|Kreativewrites}}, the article in your sandbox is a draft. To appear as a Wikipedia article it would need to be reviewed and accepted through this process ↗. How did they know it was AI? Is there something I should be looking for? --Dd3r1n0 (talk) 00:17, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello again {{u|Dd3r1n0}}, the use of LLMs to write article text is a pain for various reasons, especially accuracy and references which may be made-up, but also verbosity which needs others to edit-down. (Similar for Articles for Deletion discussions where editors find themselves dealing with wall of text objections - putting far more effort into replying than was put into the original LLM copy-paste.) And another corrosive effect is mistrust, when person B suspects person A's style looks like LLM-generated. Identifying it can be awkward; there's a page here ↗ which describes some ways. Question from Sddarealone (17:24, 26 April 2026)
Hey AllyD, I had a pretty simple question that is how do I update the talk page of an article so that content reassessment can be done and thus assigned a better grade. I'm wanting to make use of this feature so that I can boldly make requests on the talk page and not go to Wikipedia:Content assessment/Requests ↗ itself. As a new editor, I don't want to rate the content myself yet and not atleast I have some good editing experience on the encyclopedia. I shall be looking forward to an expert opinion from you. --Sddarealone (talk) 17:24, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Sddarealone}}, I guess you are referring to the Sukhamoy Chakraborty ↗ article on which you made a substantial edit. It is definitely not a ''Stub'' now; I would put it somewhere between ''Start'' and ''C'', mainly because there remain areas of unreferenced text. As to reassessment, although some projects may have occasional drives to reduce unassessed articles in their scope, there isn't really a process for reassessments, other than for nominated Good Articles and Featured Articles. See WP:ASSESS ↗. So I recommend just putting on the value that you think appropriate. AllyD (talk) 19:44, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
::One other comment: you superscripted a date (23rd April), but MOS:DATEFORMAT ↗ prefers a simpler ''23 April''). AllyD (talk) 19:53, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
:::You're right. I had an intuition that readers will want to read the date just how they learnt to do but now I will follow the correct date format. Sddarealone (talk) 04:28, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for letting me know that I can use my discretion to reassess the article on which I made the edits except for A, GA, FA articles. As for the areas of unreferenced text, I had added enough references which I just need to reuse. Happy editing! Sddarealone (talk) 04:26, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from TheNerdy Parakeet (12:37, 2 May 2026)
:''Note: TheNerdy Parakeet's mentor MuffinHunter0 is away.''
Good morning
I don't know if this is a question for a mentor, but the talk page seems abandoned, so this is my other option. On the page Order of precedence in Ontario ↗, the numbering system seems funky. Let me demonstrate.
1. blah blah
2. soccer is cool
3. grass types
3. dead grass
4. living grass
Obviously that's not the actual list but it's the gist of it. The way I see it, the numbering should be 1 for dead grass and 2 for living grass, then the next thing is 4 in the list.
Also, since the article is an order of precedence, does it go without saying that only living figures should be present since existing pages already have lists of the people that had the position (e.g., Premiers of Ontario)? If so, then either way there are some people to be added.
No rush to respond TheNerdy Parakeet (talk) 12:37, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|TheNerdy Parakeet}}, interesting question. I agree that a multi-level list like this would be better to treat roles as the numbered thing at one level and then the particular individuals with that role as distinctly numbered things within. So the Former Lieutenant Governors would be 5 then the Former Premiers 6 rather than 5 then 8. It also seems cleaner to have less special coding in OL to hardcode start values, which go wrong when someone dies and is removed or if Canada removed the monarch, renumbering the entire list! I think getting rid of the start values and perhaps putting ''OL type="a"'' on the inner sublists looks tidier on preview (though the diplomats go from a to cy which is a bit offputting). I do think whatever you choose would be best proposed on the Talk page first: orders of precedence seem something individuals may get hot and bothered about (recalling also an episode in Proust where the Baron de Charlus is very offended)! AllyD (talk) 13:53, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Question from Sddarealone (18:48, 2 May 2026)
Another question, this time about disagreement with another editor. Can I know your third opinion on talk page ↗ because there is a subtle to hard disagreement on the references discussed. I didn't move it to noticeboards and you being my mentor, I thought of asking this right here. --Sddarealone (talk) 18:48, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
:Apologies for the delay in responding but these article versions / sources were not only outwith my areas of expertise but also beyond reviewing and considering on a phone browser. Looking at them now on a laptop, I see the Talk page has since had input from a 3rd user who has I think brought a good mediating viewpoint. I have little to add, other than that when one gets to a level of detail where nuance of who-did-what is contentious, then perhaps the level of detail has become too fine-grained for a Wikipedia biographical article, in which case it can be better to seek a higher-level consensus. AllyD (talk) 18:37, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
::Well that is the crux of the matter but I find it difficult to seek the opinion of experts as there are no specific doctor wikipedians (an Oncologist would have been perfect) who can provide easy expert help. My choice will be between Wikipedians by profession ↗ viz. researchers and scientists or any wikipedian who's in education ↗. Also not sure who will be active among them. Whom should I choose? Question from Dd3r1n0 (19:44, 16 May 2026)
Hi Ally, I just had what looks like a scammer try to get me to move their page from draft to main space. How do I report this, or what do I do with it? The actual article was already flagged as AI generated, and what needed to be done for the page creator to fix it. I looked at the page, and the citation links are all circular, pointing to one company, EIN Presswire. The website was created today, and all the citations were created today etc. Looks like a massive AI generated fiction. --Dd3r1n0 (talk) 19:44, 16 May 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Dd3r1n0}}, I noticed that the creator of Draft:The Signal Post ↗ messaged not just you but also several other users' talk pages. One of these, {{u|Οἶδα}}, did an AFC review and rejected it, noting likely use of an LLM, which is banned. One of the many problem with LLMs is disproportionate effort being pushed onto others (in this case, both you and Οἶδα) to check and fix the outpouring. In your situation, having put in analytic effort, I think what I would do is create Draft talk:The Signal Post ↗ with a link to User_talk:Dd3r1n0#Subject:_Request_to_review_Draft:The_Signal_Post ↗ so that any future reviewer can read your comments on the article. AllyD (talk) 07:30, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
::They caught me in the new editor stage, and I didn't realize they were gaming the system. Thank you for getting this discussion started. In the future I will be mindful of this problem. Dd3r1n0 (talk) 16:00, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
:I got the same impression. They posted on my talk page saying I "frequently review and help improve recently created pages and drafts", which is not true. Checked their user contribs, noticed I wasn't the only one notified. Checked the draft, quickly noticed the sources were mostly the same press release repeatedly cited. A press release about AI, itself clearly generated using AI. The draft article was perfectly stubby... too perfect. Reading it over, it was immediately evident that it too was AI-generated. The only other source, about the Webby Awards, came from "The Federal", which I could find nothing on, and whose article was, again, ultimately from The Signal Post. A quick search of "The Signal Post" and "Webby Awards" showed zero evidence confirming that recognition. So all a hoax for some AI content farm. I hesitated to review the draft as I do not have access to AfC helper, but decided I had put too much attention into it to not share my findings. I opted to use another declined draft as my template to warn this user, but I somewhat bungled that so apologies to {{u|Gurkubondinn}} for that. Οἶδα (talk) 10:19, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
::No worries @Οἶδα, I assumed something like that had happened. It's a somewhat unusual template since it sometimes includes more than one signature, and I've never used it without the AFCH script. Agreed on the AI-generated content farm though. @Dd3r1n0, I think the correct place to report this would just be WP:AIV ↗ as promotional editing. <span class="nowrap">--Gurkubondinn</span> 11:14, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
:::Hey @Davidindia, I saw they had asked you as well -- you might want to be aware of this. <span class="nowrap">--Gurkubondinn</span> 11:49, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
::::{{RE|Gurkubondinn}} yup. I saw his message on my talk before the Draft was declined and told him that AI usage is not accepted and that I am not an AfC reviewer. Even before I finished the message, the draft was declined flagging LLM use. Thanks for letting me know... will be careful now. Davidindia (talk) 12:54, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
Question from Edwikik (20:59, 17 May 2026)
Hi AllyD, I've created an article (Ruth Dickey) in my Sandbox1 and then published it. I tried to move it to the mainpage but it says it's redirecting to my sandbox. Are you able to help me figure out how to get it published on the mainpage as an article and out of my sandbox? Thanks --Edwikik (talk) 20:59, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Edwikik}}, this page ↗ gives a good overview. It is especially worth considering the 6 bullet points near the top. Then, if you feel the draft is ready, follow the ''Publish your draft'' instructions further down the page. AllyD (talk) 06:53, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
::Hi AllyD, Thank you. I don't see ''Publish your draft'' instructions further down the page, but I had looked at some tutorials and thought that I was doing it correctly to move from my sandbox to publish. What is happening now is that I thought I created a Sandbox1 in my user page, then I completely wrote and created the draft of the Ruth Dickey article. Then I went to publish it to the mainpage, and it said it would redirect to my sandbox. Now, I cannot find the article anywhere. How can I find out where it is currently to see the status of it? I cannot even find a Sandbox1 in my user page anymore.

:::Update... I did find the article in my sandbox - below. Now the issue is that when I tried to move the article to the mainpage, it says that it is redirecting me to this page: Ruth Dowman ↗. :::::Hi AllyD, Thank you for your response. I have a few more questions: 1) Where exactly is this draft name change of ''Ruth Dickey (poet)'' made (do I change her name in the infobox or in the article itself or?) NOTE: Once this is done, how do I get The National Book Foundation's wikipedia page to link to her page (It has her named at Ruth E. Dickey although that is not her name on their website or anywhere else that I've seen online, she is always named as ''Ruth Dickey''. 2) • After I place this draft name change, do I "publish page" and indicate that I've changed the name of the draft and will that "publish page" get it to the mainpage? 3) WP:AFC indicates that I need to add the code <code><nowiki>{{subst:submit}}</nowiki></code> to the top of my draft in the source editor. I tried that, but then it showed up as exactly that piece of code at the top of my article. Is that correct? Do I even need to do that step since I initially tried to move it to the mainpage? 4) Where in the article about the NZ athlete should I add a note or is that something you are able to do? Thank you so much for your help and guidance. Edwikik (talk) 16:03, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::Hello again {{u|Edwikik}}! Looking at your draft, I notice that the "other" sandbox has <code><nowiki>{{User sandbox}}</nowiki></code> at the top, including the "Submit your draft for review" button, but User:Edwikik/sandbox/1 doesn't. Maybe first adding that chunk of code to the top of the article draft, then using the button will simplify getting the draft review under way? AllyD (talk) 18:00, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::Regarding your Q3 above, when you add code like ''subst:submit'' in an edit, the "actioning" of it happens after you save the edit. AllyD (talk) 18:06, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::Regarding the article naming, linking and distinguishing the similarly named article (Qs 1, 2 & 4), I'd say these would all follow after the new article gets accepted at AFC. AllyD (talk) 18:09, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::Also a comment of the draft itself: it has a lot of repeating references to the same sources. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it can be tidier to follow WP:REPEATCITE ↗ and, for example, name the likes of the 2021 interview as "graceffo21" once then reuse that name for the further ref links. AllyD (talk) 18:17, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::Thank you, I've gone through and streamlined that as per your recommendation. Edwikik (talk) 20:02, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::Hi AllyD,
:::::::I added <nowiki>{{User sandbox}}</nowiki> to the top of the draft, and ended up being able "Submit your draft for review." Under Title I left it as: User: Edwikik/sandbox/1 since it indicated that it should be the name from which it was submitted.
:::::::A yellow window popped up and it says: "Review waiting, please be patient. It may take 3 months or more...There are 4,505 pending submissions waiting for review. If it is accepted, it will be moved into the article space. If it is declined, then the reason will be posted here. In the meantime, you can continue to improve this submission by editing normally."
:::::::Then it has these WARNINGS: • "This page should probably be located at Draft:1 (move) and • The page 1 already exists. Please ensure it is not a copy or that this page is located at the correct title."
:::::::Do you have any idea how to address these warnings or to speed up the review process? Thank you. Edwikik (talk) 20:51, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello
If I want to be published in wikipedia as public figure what should I do ? And what is required ? --Writert902 (talk) 15:08, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
:{{u|Writert902}}, please see WP:AUTOBIO ↗. If you are indeed a notable public figure, then I am sure a neutral 3rd party will write about you at some point. AllyD (talk) 15:12, 19 May 2026 (UTC)

hello i want to write a public figure as a third party how can i do it ? --Writert902 (talk) 17:56, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
:{{u|Writert902}}, it isn't clear what you mean. I am taking this as a follow-up to my answer to your previous message, which concerned writing about yourself. Anyway, you can read this introduction ↗. From your questions I am also guessing that English is not your first language. There are Wikipedias in most of the world's languages; you could consider contributing to one of these? AllyD (talk) 19:44, 19 May 2026 (UTC)

Question from SalonSage (22:57, 2 June 2026)
I had previously done some editing in Wikipedia and am now getting back into it now that I'm retired. I lost the password to my previous account. That's why I had to start this new account, so I'm not a total beginner. I did draft new page. It doesn't have errors. Did I do it right? It is: salon suites. --SalonSage (talk) 22:57, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|SalonSage}}, some comments from a look at your draft article. (1) Broadly I wonder which is the main term of art across US, Canadian, UK, Australian practitioners? It is good to title an article to the widest use. (2) A lot here is sourced to the Nov.2025 article by Karen Kaminski from the Allure Salon Group - obviously knowledgeable but also with an interest in promoting the sector; it would be useful find further more independent references? (3) There is a list of firms under ''Industry growth'', referenced to that Kaminski article, but some are not mentioned there. AllyD (talk) 12:52, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
:You also mention an inaccessible previous account. These things happen. For transparency, I suggest declaring it on your new account's user page. Reviewers do get suspicious of new accounts which immediately start creating articles, so it could help to refer back , even if you cannot use the old account. AllyD (talk) 12:57, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from SalonSage (14:51, 3 June 2026)
I updated my user page to reflect my previous editing experience under another user name. In answer to your question about the most common term for a small independent salon, it is salon suite, so I think that's the appropriate article name. I found a few other non-promotional articles in salon trade magazines about salon suites: A 2022 survey listing salon suites as one of the top 10 trends; Efforts to exclude beauty operators in salon suites and other independent settings from efforts to limit independent contractor status in some states like California; Ways salon suite operators use choices like lighting, colors and music to express their brand. Should I edit the draft article directly with them or go over them with you first? --SalonSage (talk) 14:51, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
:My comments were just some suggestions (and I see subsequently that the term is being used in the UK, answering my 1st point). Just update the draft as you see fit, with the strongest independent references available, then put it to WP:AFC ↗ and see what the reviewer there thinks. AllyD (talk) 19:46, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from Dd3r1n0 (15:57, 5 June 2026)
Hi Again,
I have run into another issue that is confusing. Now that I have been at this for a couple of months and am getting more familiar with policies, I find it almost alarming but definitely confusing that every policy I try to learn is open to a wide latitude of interpretation. It's actually generating a lot of conflict while people argue their point of view. I just worked on an issue where my interpretation of the policy was "right" and the other editor's interpretation was "right," but I lost anyway, which is just strange. How do you navigate this problem, or am I just missing something? --Dd3r1n0 (talk) 15:57, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello again {{u|Dd3r1n0}}: this is not easy to deal with in a consensus-based system. Personally, I usually walk away from immediate discussion that has reached attrition. If the discussion happened in the publicly-available spaces (article talk pages, articles for deletion discussions, etc.) rather than a user talk page, then I take some comfort that someone ''may'' resume the discussion at some future point, and my points ''may'' influence that. But walking away is not easy, and I wouldn't pretend that there aren't some such frayed ends that still rankle with me. AllyD (talk) 08:09, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from TheNerdy Parakeet (01:26, 6 June 2026)
:''Note: TheNerdy Parakeet's mentor MuffinHunter0 is away.''
Good evening!
I was going through my suggested edits, read Order of precedence in Prince Edward Island ↗, saw it needed a refresh, and looked for outdated information. But I noticed that, except for the first few positions, there isn't a person listed (or a reference, but that wasn't my priority). For some, it is hard to put a person when there are several concurrently in that position across a province, but there's only one chief justice. Or speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Would adding the people in this position be alright? Or is that too much info?
I also see that this is my second time asking about orders of precedence- I'll try to figure things out after this! Thank you in advance! TheNerdy Parakeet (talk) 01:26, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello again {{u|TheNerdy Parakeet}}: intuitively, I would have expected Orders of Precedence to omit names, as it is the role rather than the person that determines this. However, looking at similar for my own country, I see lots of Lords-Lieutenant roles with attached names - many of them red-links of incumbents on the fringe of public life. So there does seem to be precedent for naming, though I think these would fall under WP:LISTPEOPLE ↗, needing references, etc. AllyD (talk) 07:50, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from Abdullah Sahbaz (10:25, 7 June 2026)
Hello, Is there a way to contact an admin or someone in a higher position to report someone for edit warring. I did my first edit yesterday with providing sources but someone nationalist keeps reverting the numbers to his liking. Im talking about the Fall of Constantinople page. --Abdullah Sahbaz (talk) 10:25, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|HistoryMarch05}} (noting your account rename), the best place to resolve content disputes is on the article Talk page; only if there was clear, reasoned evidence-based ↗ consensus that some users were ignoring would it be a matter of user conduct to be taken to WP:ANI ↗. In the case of Fall of Constantinople ↗, I can see recent discussion ↗ (and agree with {{u|discospinster}}'s emphasis on presenting sources), so that seems the best place to achieve a consensus. AllyD (talk) 11:15, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
::One other thing: I am guessing you were participating previously under a temporary account. It is good that you now have a settled account identity for future edits, but if you did previously participate on the article Talk page as a temporary account, then please say so on your first further contribution there. That will help alleviate any suspicion of using multiple accounts ↗ to influence outcomes. AllyD (talk) 11:20, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from SRQpr26ac (19:40, 7 June 2026)
Hi Ally, nice to meet you! I want to create an article about a notable woman I worked with for almost 40 years - a teacher, author, lecturer. I've written the article and gathered lots of references but they are all from the 70s and 80s. I am not sure how to organize them - and I have many other questions! --SRQpr26ac (talk) 19:40, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|SRQpr26ac}}, it can be problematic when one has personal familiarity with a person (my personal approach is to avoid editing a biography if the person would greet me by name in the street), so what I would suggest is first assessing dispassionately against the biographical notability criteria ↗, using them as a checklist. If you are still positive about creating the article, then I would use this guide ↗. Building up a referenced article can be quite an effort, so I might also suggest this ↗ to get initial practice. AllyD (talk) 08:16, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for that advice, AllyD. I studied the Notability criteria, and I believe my subject fits under the Creative Professional category, as she wrote several books and created a unique fitness program that benefitted hundreds of people during her career and was the subject of several research studies. Since she died 11 years ago, it is unlikely that she would greet me on the street, so I believe I will forge ahead with this biography. When I wrote my initial draft, I modeled it on biographies I read on Wikipedia, so I believe the language format is fairly good; it's just the technical formatting, references, and things like external links that I will need to learn. I will study the guides that you recommended. I believe I can post a draft at some point for review before it goes live? SRQpr26ac (talk) 15:38, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
:::In practice, as a new editor, you will be creating a draft article and then getting it reviewed by another editor, using this process ↗, so that will provide a checkpoint on those formatting matters. AllyD (talk) 17:40, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello, an edit I made on the Intensive and extensive properties page was flagged as possible vandalism by ClueBot NG. I’m not sure if it’s a false positive from the bot or if I did something incorrectly. --CasualFix (talk) 21:13, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
:Here’s the link ↗ CasualFix (talk) 21:25, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
::Hi {{u|CasualFix}}, without being an expert on Cluebot, its 0.862576 rating on your edit seems surprisingly high. While I do think the whole "Intensive qualities" section could benefit from more references, I see nothing in your edit which could have been interpreted as vandalism (e.g. a word / phrase which can be misread as abusive). So I think you should go ahead and report reversion 4533669 as a false positive at WP:CBFP ↗ and then your added text can be reinstated. AllyD (talk) 11:06, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from Shahotayeb (14:04, 20 June 2026)
Hi there,
I'm the General Manager at Kurdistan24. I created a Wikipedia article, about my biography but it was unpublished, and I'm not sure why — I made sure to cite my sources correctly. Could you help me understand what went wrong and get it republished?
Thank you!
Shaho Tayeb --Shahotayeb (talk) 14:04, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello {{u|Shahotayeb}}, firstly, as you have previously edited the article about your company you should add a ''Connected contributor'' tag on Talk:Kurdistan 24 ↗: see this page ↗ about disclosing editing with a conflict of interest. Now, regarding your question about the deleted biography: I can't see the version which was deleted but presume it was similar to the version still in your Sandbox. Your actual article was assessed by a new page reviewer, then taken to the Articles for Deletion process, where the consensus was that it should be deleted. That discussion from January is here ↗; that is predominantly a decision about notability, but you can also see editors raised Conflict of Interest concerns similar to mine above (and also possible AI/LLM use in the writing of the article, which is not permitted). AllyD (talk) 07:26, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
::thank you so much for sharing the information, well i was not aware of the technical details regarding publishing my biography, which was deleted and still in my sandbox.
::I would really appreciate your help if you share with me the next steps in order to republish it Shahotayeb (talk) 15:22, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
:::The key issue for any article is whether it meets the notability criteria. Those for biographical articles are here ↗. As you will see, they are very much about 3rd party coverage ↗ ''about'' the subject demonstrating that they meet the particular criterion. (This coverage issue was to the fore in the January AFD discussion and subsequent Deletion Review.) In your case, as I understand it, any notability would probably rely on WP:NJOURNALIST ↗ criterion 3, but would need coverage to demonstrate that. AllyD (talk) 19:24, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hi {{u|Jean-Pierre SURSOCK}}, there's no need to repeat the earlier change; it stands in the change records. However, if someone else changes that date back again, and you get involved in discussing what is the correct date on the article's Talk page, then you should start by saying there that you were the earlier Temporary Account editor, just for transparency. :Hi {{u|Tylerstechwiki}}, there's obviously a variety of material on company websites, for example marketing guff about how great their products are, but, although 3rd party sources ↗ are better in general, I see no problem in using factual information as a source for matters of fact about a product. :Hello {{u|EditorialRhino9078}}, first of all, this exercise process ↗ can be useful to get started on various editing features. You asked about citation, which is probably one of the most awkward things here: this page ↗ should be useful backup, though it can be easier to learn by copy-pasting an existing citation then adapting it and checking the page preview until it looks ok. I'd recommend gradually editing existing articles to become familiar before embarking on a new article, but once you feel ready there is this page ↗ to help. AllyD (talk) 14:32, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
Question from EditorialRhino9078 (20:40, 6 July 2026)

:After inserting text, it is worth reading the section afresh. Looking at Whipsnade Zoo#Lions of the Serengeti ↗, there's a mid-sentence capital on ''"Several"'' (the sort of thing a mobile keyboard often "helpfully" adds) and the time flow could be clearer with periods rather than commas. AllyD (talk) 08:01, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
::Alright, I'll try fix them and thanks for the feedback EditorialRhino9078 (talk) 08:10, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
:For the ''www.whipsnadezoo.org/zoo-stories/news/pride-and-joy-whipsnade-zoo-second-north-african-lioness-gives-birth'' citation, wrapping it in ''<nowiki><ref>...</ref> </nowiki>'' will make it numbered and appearing in the ''References'' section at the end. It would also be preferable to put it inside a ''Template:Cite web''. That is more complex but better over time: for example, if the Zoo reorganises its website (as happens a lot with Council websites) and that particular web page disappears ("linkrot"), a later editor can see what it was and maybe relocate it. AllyD (talk) 08:19, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
Thanks!
Alright I appreciate it a lot thanks for the tips and help and feedback! EditorialRhino9078 (talk) 08:52, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Snow White's mother (23:03, 10 July 2026)
I've been trying to clarify the course section of the North Fork of Feather River. I've left the sentence: 'It rises at the confluence of Rice Creek and a smaller unnamed stream in the southern part of the Lassen Volcanic National Park.' which had no citation, so I don't know where it's coming from, especially the 'smaller unnamed stream' part. Rice Creek flows from Crumbaugh Lake and from that point receives many streams before joining the South Arm of Rice Creek at a marshy/braided stream situation in Feather River Meadows, where it picks up water from several streams before emerging as the North Fork of Feather River. I'm not certain why the original author chose the origin that they did, or even where they meant to begin. My addition is clunky & probably formatted all wrong as butting in is not really my forte, but the original entry was confusing & unclear (to me at least). --Snow White's mother (talk) 23:03, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Snow White's mother}}, I suggest copying more or less what you wrote to me here as a new topic on the Talk:North Fork Feather River ↗ page. It helps give context for any other editor who may visit the topic, whether tomorrow, next month or in 10 years, and so inform further adjustments to the article. AllyD (talk) 06:43, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
::One other comment about the citations that you added - rather than just raw web addresses, it is good to wrap them in <nowiki><ref>{{cite web ...}}</ref></nowiki> (as {{u|A Frantic Turtle}} did in this adjustment ↗). This will make them appear as numbered references at the end of the article. It is more complex to do, but helps recovery from "linkrot" if/when the referenced site reorganised or disappears (as has happened with a lot of US resources over 2025-6). AllyD (talk) 07:01, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
