James Mill ↗

@EarthDude I am extremely sorry,I was thus fixing the broken link and quotation of the sentence which is recently added by an user in James Mill ↗ article and these same statement are also added in The History of British India ↗ and Anti-Indian sentiment ↗I wasn't aware that the reference are unsourced Myuoh kaka roi (talk) 05:44, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

:Aside from the source issue, that specific content seems too minor and WP:UNDUE ↗ for inclusion in these articles. Something along the lines of it has already been given in the articles elsewhere, so the statement should be removed. It is quite redundant. — <span style="font-family: Courier; color: darkviolet">'''EarthDude'''</span> (<span style="font-family: Courier; color: black">'''Talk'''</span>) 08:33, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
::Agreed with your statement but the information has been readded by another user who also did it in The History of British India ↗ article Myuoh kaka roi (talk) 11:21, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

About the zee news Rfc

hey dude can we depreciate already i think theres a clear case being made so like whats the next step Stanjik (talk) 16:11, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

:also like this is unrelated but im asking u this cuz you seem like an experienced wikipedian
:I followed the dhurandhar 2 thing for a bit after a while they just voted like whats the deal with that when Rfc takes place they say its about merit Stanjik (talk) 16:19, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
::Regarding the Zee News RfC, I personally cannot close it, since I was the one who opened it. An uninvolved editor will close it after the usual 30 day timeframe. As for the Dhurandhar 2 dispute, RfCs are based on editor arguments and not votes, though many editors do confuse this. Anyhow, basic votes are not taken into consideration when an RfC is closed and RfCs can also have the minority position be deemed the consensus, if the arguments given by those editors is strong enough. — <span style="font-family: Courier; color: darkviolet">'''EarthDude'''</span> (<span style="font-family: Courier; color: black">'''Talk'''</span>) 20:55, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Yeah no i get that like at the end it was like 21 to 31 votes in favor something at the end
:::Also thanks for creating rfc on zee news it should have been depreciated years ago why did we take this long anyone with a brain knows that thing is pretty much anti wiki Stanjik (talk) 09:05, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
::::The reason for there having been no prior such discussion on Zee News is because of Wikipedia's systemic bias ↗. The issue is that most Wikipedia editors are from North America and Europe, and editors mostly only edit topics they are familiar with. Only a minority of Wikipedia editors are from India and, as such, most editors may have genuinely never heard of Zee News before. If you look at other sources for which the community has developed a consensus at WP:RSPS ↗, you'd see that most sources are from the West. The issue is deeper than just sourcing; there is a greater quantity and quality of Western content relative to content from the global south, including India. Editors and content related to women too are underrepresented. One of my goals as an editor is to tackle this systemic bias. — <span style="font-family: Courier; color: darkviolet">'''EarthDude'''</span> (<span style="font-family: Courier; color: black">'''Talk'''</span>) 09:42, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::yeah i see that now i was just suprised because this is like a really well know news outlet and its pretty blatant yk its not at all hidden its a garbage source hope we weed out more garbage soon in wiki Stanjik (talk) 09:57, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
::. Ultimately, with 19 "Yes" or "Support" votes and 31 "No" or "Oppose" votes, this is what i meant like what was the voting about (dhurandhar 2) Stanjik (talk) 09:07, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Ah, I see. Do you mean to ask what an RfC is, and how that whole process worked out in the Dhurandhar 2 article> — <span style="font-family: Courier; color: darkviolet">'''EarthDude'''</span> (<span style="font-family: Courier; color: black">'''Talk'''</span>) 09:22, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
::::no no i mean i get how RfC works i know it works on merit but in the end they went with majority votes in the end Stanjik (talk) 09:24, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Have a look

Hi, it is regarding this portal ↗. I've come across a few articles using it as a source. Do we have consensus regarding its usage ay WP:RSN ↗? Skimming through, I find it to be 'less reliable'. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:52, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

:Looking through discussions at WP:RSN ↗, I don't see any solid consensus, largely because government sites from different countries differ so much. However, I wouldn't rely on government sites in general because they don't have any fact-checking or editorial oversight while having an incentive to promote their own actions and ruling ideologies. Indian government websites specifically, especially in recent years, have become pretty overtly supportive of the ruling party and their beliefs, but this is also the case with many other countries such as the United States. — <span style="font-family: Courier; color: darkviolet">'''EarthDude'''</span> (<span style="font-family: Courier; color: black">'''Talk'''</span>) 07:49, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

'''Backlog update'''

At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.

After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.

'''2024 and 2025 NPP Awards'''

74px|left ↗{{no ping|JTtheOG}} was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.
{{no ping|Hey man im josh}} and {{no ping|MPGuy2824}} won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.

{{no ping|BoyTheKingCanDance}}, {{no ping|Rosiestep}}, {{no ping|SunDawn}}, and {{no ping|Vanderwaalforces}} were inducted into the NPP Hall of Fame ↗ for having two separate years of 2,000+ article reviews.

'''January–February backlog drive'''

The experimental two-month long backlog drive concluded with 183 reviewers patrolling over 27,761 articles and 35,309 redirects, earning over 36,836 points. Congratulations to {{no ping|JTtheOG}}, who achieved first place with 6,484.6 points in this drive.

'''May backlog drive'''

An article-only backlog drive is currently underway. We are hoping to make a big dent in the backlog. You can read more about it or join at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026 ↗.

'''PageTriage'''

An attempt was made to get the New Pages Feed ↗ to sort by date marked as reviewed instead of date created. However we had to revert it due to bugs. We may try again in the future. You can subscribe to the Phabricator ticket ↗ if you're interested in following along.

A reminder about EW templating

Hi! I just wanted to remind you about this: {{tqb|'''If the edit warring user(s) appear unaware that edit warring is prohibited''', they can be told about this policy by posting a {{tls|uw-ewsoft}}, {{tls|uw-ew}}, or {{tls|uw-3rr}} template message on their user talk page. '''Avoid posting a generic warning template if you are actively involved in the edit war yourself'''; it can be seen as aggressive. Consider writing your own note to the user specifically appropriate for the situation, with a view to explicitly cooling things down.

Liberalism in India

May I know the reason for reverting my edits on Liberalism in India ↗; everyone from across political spectrum agrees that some form of liberal institutions existed in India (whatever was the name of the subcontinent then). Specifically;

a. Rule of law (not perfect, caste system, war/loot/plunder/other issues like everywhere else), but it ''is'' an accepted fact that even kings were bound by dharma/doing the right thing in Manusmriti ↗ (and multiple other discourses, Sen and Thapar have also noted judicial institutions); Buddha ↗ promoted eightfold path ↗ for liberation

b. Tradition of trading, markets, private property (see Thapar p 35, 153-4 ↗ and chapter 6). This is an accepted fact (Angus Maddison ↗'s OECD Report ↗, and others)

c. intellectual pluralism - both Jainism and Buddhism were revolts against the ritualistic Vedic/casteist people, denying the authority of Vedas (Sen wrote a book with the title reflecting that point ↗, see page 13 where he has said;

''"It is very important to avoid the twin pitfalls of (1) taking democracy to be just a gift of the Western world that India simply accepted when it became independent, and (2) assuming that there is something unique in Indian history that makes the country singularly suited to democracy. The point, rather, is that democracy is intimately connected with public discussion and interactive reasoning. Traditions of public discussion exist across the world, not just in the West. And to the extent that such a tradition can be drawn on, democracy becomes easier to institute and also to preserve.”''

These are accepted facts from scholars from the left, right, and center. See Tharoor ↗ here ↗

''“Far from being a Western import, as thinkers like Amartya Sen have pointed out, the key values of modern liberalism—an emphasis on individual liberty, freedom, social justice and societal harmony—have therefore been deeply ingrained in Indian society since ancient times. Liberal values can be found in our civilisational traditions and cultural beliefs, representative ruling institutions of the past and in the articulations produced by an array of makers of modern India, with giants like Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Dadabhai Naoroji, Swami Vivekananda, MG Ranade, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, and Gurudev Tagore situating their critique of colonial rule within an essentially liberal framework.”''

These are just some specifics, “liberalism” did not arrive in India with the East India Company ↗, that is a well accepted fact; a civilizational state ↗ doesn't just wake up one day and decides to become liberal because the British said so; and I had noted the influence of British thinkers on modern liberalism in India. Everything was well researched and sourced. I would like to know your reasoning behind reverting the edits. It doesn't make sense to me, the article needed sources, verification, and reliable information; I did all of that Ar1201u1 (talk) 19:53, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

:Please see WP:NPOV ↗. The views you state are not mainstream and not held by a majority of scholars and reliable sources. While liberalism does espouse concepts such as freedom, simply supporting such concepts does not make one liberal, for liberalism is a broad and complex modern ideology. And yes, liberalism is a modern ideology. It would be fine if you added reliably sourced information to the article for opposing views, but you have to attribute them and not given them WP:UNDUE ↗ prevalence within the article. Also, some of the content you included, such as {{tqq|It has struggled to assert itself as a coherent and indigenous tradition, and is often misunderstood as a Western, elitist concept, synonymous with leftist activism}} are also violating of NPOV, as they too aren't mainstream views in reliable sources. — <span style="font-family: Courier; color: darkviolet">'''EarthDude'''</span> (<span style="font-family: Courier; color: black">'''Talk'''</span>) 09:36, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
