Concern regarding Draft:List of Olympic competitors (Rim–Rom) ↗
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, Habst. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:List of Olympic competitors (Rim–Rom) ↗, a page you created, has not been edited in at least five months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted ↗, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it ↗ again or request ↗ that it be moved to your userspace.
If the page has already been deleted, you can request it be undeleted ↗ so you can continue working on it.
Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 02:07, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello, Habst,
:We have a lot of similar type drafts that are due to be deleted tomorrow. You can see them right here ↗. I'm not sure if you want to continue to work on them. Thank you. <span style="font-family:Papyrus; color:#800080;">'''''L'''''iz</span> '''''Read!''''' ↗ '''''Talk!''''' 22:41, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
::Hi @Liz, thank you for the notice. After talking with some others about this I think a good way to go forward would be to build a freely licensed tool hosted on Toolforge that can automatically compile these lists using both Wikipedia and Wikidata. Until that is done, I'll make a few dummy edits to temporarily keep these, although to be honest they're already quite out of date because tools like XfDCloser don't update page targets in draftspace when one of the thousands of pages linked to is moved, which happens every day. --Habst (talk) 22:49, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
:::@Liz, this is done here now: https://olympians.toolforge.org/ Thanks for the reminder! --Habst (talk) 19:27, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
:::If you're going to be maintaining this for a while, it's probably better (if technically possible) to move these pages to user space ↗ rather than make continual dummy edits just to keep these in draft space to avoid G13 deletion. Per the RFC ↗, these articles stand no chance of becoming mainspace articles under their present titles so they're going to stay in draft space permanently until being deleted, but userfication will avoid this as G13 only applies to articles in draftspace and user-space articles marked with the AFC submission template (which these won't be). FOARP (talk) 10:38, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
::::@FOARP Per above, because these are entirely duplicated by the real-time feed at olympians.toolforge.org/athletes now (which has no dependencies on the drafts), there's no need to move to userspace. I won't object if someone else like yourself wants to move them to your own userspace, but I personally would be OK with letting them expire as the content is both out of date and duplicated on WMF servers. Habst (talk) 10:46, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::Probably just easiest to G13/G7. BTW - do we really have 146,590 EN WP articles about Olympians? That's more than some estimates for the total number. FOARP (talk) 10:52, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
::::::@FOARP OK, if you could reference olympians.toolforge.org in the speedy deletion rationale so it shows up in the deletion log that would be ideal. Re: your question yes, you can count them all: https://olympians.toolforge.org/athletes?wikipedia=article ↗ Perhaps the estimates you're referencing are a few cycles old or not including arts competitors? There are at least 153,412 using only the narrow definition of those who competed in a medal-winning event -- there are a few thousand more not tracked by Wikilympians if you include those who DNS or competed in a non-medal event or competed in the 1906 Intercalated Games, etc. -- Habst (talk) 11:03, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::::OK. That's certainly a lot. FOARP (talk) 11:05, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
::::::::Done, all noted a G7/replaced with olympians.toolforge.org tool. You might want to advertise the new tool at WP:OLYMPICS ↗ and add it on the main page there as a resource. FOARP (talk) 11:41, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
