Red Links



Hi Hameltion,

I noted that you linked all the players in the awards section on the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference women's soccer season ↗ and many of them are redlinks. Is the wikipedia policy to link everyone even if some are red now? I thought under Wikipedia:Red link ↗ we were supposed to only link articles that have been created. Usually I'll keep an eye out for when you create one and go back and link as they are created.

WP:REDLINKBIO ↗ says {{tq|red links can be created to biographies of people who would likely meet Wikipedia's guidelines for notability}}. Off a quick look, Lema, Graham, and Engle are certainly notable already, and others are likely to be soon (though yes, maybe not all of them). It's also useful for future-proofing: 2022 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament ↗ (to pick at random) is missing some links to Dahlien, Iwai, Mercado, Turner, etc. If it's your aesthetic preference though, feel free to remove and readd the links later, not a big deal. :::Yeah, it's subjective/about what's defensible. For something like every scorer in a 64-team tournament, you might not want all red links because plenty of them will never be notable. I was poking around when I noticed a few edits that you made on NWSL player articles like Claire Hutton ↗ and Alex Pfeiffer ↗. In these instances, you added NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup ↗ apps/goals under the '''Cup''' section of Career Statistics, grouping it with the NWSL Challenge Cup ↗. Is this the right place to add the Summer Cup statistics? I've seen other pages have them listed in the '''Continental''' section or even in the '''Other''' section, which feels somewhat sensible as well. I haven't been able to find any discussions or collective agreements across Wikipedia, so I'd like to ask you since you have added it in yourself.

Women's soccer players



Hi Hameltion. I was wondering if you knew of any way to find a list or maybe get pinged about new soccer player pages being created. When I notice one get added to the NCAA tournament page, I'll go back through and make sure links get added on other pages, but I feel like I'm missing a ton or there are pages with many links missing. There are two Wikicurious events in North Carolina this coming week! These are great opportunities to meet other Wikipedians, help new editors get started, and learn more about subjects you might not be familiar with.

Wikicurious: WNC Women's History Month Edit-a-thon ↗ will be a hybrid event held at the Pack Memorial Library ↗ in Asheville on Tuesday, March 24, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event is focused on amplifying the stories and figures of under-represented Appalachian artists, writers, and other creators, particularly women in honor of Women's History Month, as well as people of color, LGBTQ individuals, and other disenfranchised communities.
