Sourcing for Section You Removed on San Jose article
Hi, I'm not sure the paragraph you deleted needs to be sourced because it is all links to existing Wikipedia articles. If you browse these articles, you'll know this is all stuff in San Jose. San Jose is home to educational and cultural institutions such as San Jose State University ↗, the Children's Discovery Museum ↗, the San Jose Museum of Art ↗, the Winchester Mystery House ↗, the Japanese American Museum of San Jose ↗, Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana ↗, the Viet Museum ↗, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum ↗, the Hayes Mansion ↗, Lick Observatory ↗, the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden ↗, and the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts ↗. Two major league sports teams, the San Jose Earthquakes ↗ and the San Jose Sharks ↗, play their home games in San Jose. San Jose International Airport ↗ is the third-busiest airport in Northern California. Centered at Diridon Station ↗, VTA ↗'s rail and bus networks, together with Amtrak ↗, ACE ↗, BART ↗, and Caltrain ↗, connect San Jose to the broader region. :Following up on this. Will proceed to restore this edit tomorrow if there's no objection. Thanks. EndlessCoffee54 (talk) 18:02, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
::EndlessCoffee54 you are not wrong about the sourcing--it's in the lead and many of these things are obvious. However, in principle, one cannot rely on the sourcing in ''other'' Wikipedia articles. The bigger question for me is whether all that stuff should be in the lead--it smacks of recentism, for instance, and that much namedropping also makes the lead a sea of blue ↗. Need Help With Arcadia, CA Page
Hi Hikingboi, thanks for welcoming me. I had a question for you. A user recently removed my politics content on the Arcadia page and I'm not sure how it needs to be to stay up. This was the source code: ==Politics==
{{PresHead|place=City of Arcadia, CA}}
<!-- PresRow should be {{PresRow|Year|Winning party|GOP vote #|Dem vote #|3rd party vote #|State}} -->
{{PresRow|2024|Democratic|9,384|11,757|770|California}}
{{PresRow|2020|Democratic|9,603|14,831|457|California}}
{{PresRow|2016|Democratic|6,850|10,379|1,001|California}}
{{PresRow|2012|Democratic|9,219|9,431|418|California}}
{{PresRow|2008|Democratic|10,191|10,372|512|California}}
{{PresFoot}}
Arcadia has voted Democrat by narrow to solid margins from 2008-2024. There was a large shift to the Democrats from 2008-2016, which had partially rebounded by 2024. <ref>https://www.lavote.gov/home/voting-elections/current-elections/election-results/past-election-results</ref>
I felt a little bit bullied in that someone posted to my page without warning and wrote that I posted it without a reliable source. The source was the county .gov website and it took me a lot of time to get the data ready for the results template. I think the mistake is that I put the source below the text but not below the chart. The text was literally my summary of the results in the chart. I don't know if I need a separate source for each election, the page I linked has the link to each election. I can do that I'm just worried I'll do that and then find out that it had to be done in some specific way. I'm really not great with code and I learn best by doing. I feel like the Arcadia page is being gate kept because I did the same thing with three other cities and there has been no problem or accusations that my source is not reliable. Sorry if sound angry but this reminds me of being bullied online in HS and people hiding behind the rules. I got the data the right way from the right source.
Thanks for your time. 11redharry (talk) 00:28, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
:I'm not sure what to do about it. Whoever reverted your changes, try asking them on their talk page. Hikingboii (talk) 01:36, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
