Carlin's Cairn ↗ moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Carlin's Cairn ↗, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. Articles about hills :)
Hi there, I hope you're well. Thanks very much for your contributions to Wikipedia - I'm glad you've got the motivation to get these articles up!
I've noticed that many of the articles you've posted about these hills rely solely on the single source of hill-bagging.co.uk, and I can see it's been mentioned further up here. On Wikipedia, it's generally accepted that articles have multiple references from different sources to prove their notability, and to help researchers follow up with anything they want to investigate. For instance, a quick search shows me several other references that are available talking about King's Seat Hill ↗ which I've just seen.
It'd be brilliant if you could include some of these in your future edits - and, whilst I don't think there's any issue with notability here at all, you might want to take a glance over the policy on notability of geographic features ↗ - specifically, referencing further information to ensure that the content is encyclopedic.
All the best, and please do get back to me if you have any questions! | Naypta✉ <i>opened his mouth at</i> 13:20, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Naypta, thanks so much I will definitely get more references in. They only have so little at the moment as I wanted to finish creating the articles for a certain list first before I standardise them and went further in depth with each one. Kind regards, Ian iangpark (talk) 13:23, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
:I am afraid I don’t see Hill Bagging as meeting our guidelines for reliable sources ↗ as it appears to be a personal website. There is a lot of data on there but it is not clear how this is sourced, and for example where it conflicts with OS data, why it should be considered more accurate or reliable. If Hill Bagging is using published data, it would be good to reference that directly. —--<strong style="color:#555555">Pontificalibus</strong> 17:23, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Pontificalbus, the HB website is the interactive copy of the official website for the standardisation and numeration of all hills within the United Kingdom and ROI, and has been so for a good number of years. The website is administrated by one individual who has been directly involved with the individuals who mapped the hills. Quite simply, it is, by an enormous margin, the most reliable website by which to extrapolate topographical hill data in the United Kingdom and ROI - OS maps, although extremely useful, does not normally provide accurate summit information. The data is sourced from http://www.hills-database.co.uk/, which is a place to hold the official release of the frequently-updated database; HB is the interactive, user-friendly format of this Excel database, copied directly. I have only used HB so that a reference can be taken directly for each hill, which is not possible with the older website. If you like, at the end of each article, I can reference the website on which the official database can be downloaded? Kind regards, iangpark (talk) 17:50, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mountains and hills of Scotland ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mull ↗<!-- ([//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/Mountains_and_hills_of_Scotland check to confirm] | [//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/Mountains_and_hills_of_Scotland?client=notify fix with Dab solver])-->. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>
