Hi Interstellarpoliceman, I saw your message on the Coin noticeboard, regarding being editor at Q21. If you know the individual people that you are writing on, then I suggest you have a WP:COI ↗. Are you being paid to write about them? scope_creep (talk) 14:39, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
:I'm volunteering at Q21, so I'm not actually being paid. I hope that's OK, but I understand that this might look suspicious. And no, I don't know Sophia Cacciola personally. I hope this all can be cleared up, I don't want to get anyone in trouble. Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 20:49, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
::What about the rest of the articles that are mentioned on the list. Do you know or work with Johannes Grenzfurthner ↗, you have edited this article quite heavily. scope_creep (talk) 08:42, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
:::No, not personally. But yes, his office is at Q21 and his group invites a lot of resident artists to Vienna, among them Michael and Sophia. To be clear, I'm not doing this work because I want to advert for anyone, just that English WP articles about contemporary art and culture initiatives in Vienna are always in shambles. For example Machfeld ↗, eSeL ↗, and many more. I wanted to get onto that as well. I am, for clarification, updating my user page. Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 11:45, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
::::Coolio. Seems to be OK. You dont seem to have a Conflict of Interest and you have stated clearly that your not being paid. A lot of the promotional material coming out of the articles in list at Coin. References to user generated content like blogs, facebook, other social media sites is not allowed. I've already removed about 5 references to such sites on the Grenzfurthner articles, and Ive also removed stuff that cant be verified. The other article will be done in due course. The reliable sources noticeboard is a good place if you are having problem putting in a reference and dont know if it is promotional. scope_creep (talk) 05:12, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

Johannes Grenzfurthner

Hi Interstellarpoliceman. I see you have added some stuff onto the article, including stuff about being buried alive, which is supported by a ref for a new film, which doesnt mention being buried alive. I've removed it. scope_creep (talk) 09:51, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
:Nope, it's a very long interview, not only about the movie but also about his work in general. There is a whole paragraph about exactly this. I know it's German, but look for ''lebendig begraben''. I just find it interesting to give a context for his work. Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 09:55, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
:Will rephrase the whole thing at some point and add it again. Please have a look at it then. Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 12:59, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
::I translated the article in Google and bing translate, and I didnt see it. I'll have another look. scope_creep (talk) 10:50, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Link ↗<br>But I will add another reference that makes the point personal life/art clearer. Will add it sometime today, please have a look. Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 11:13, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
:::I added the references and used the correct cite template. Please have a look. Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 09:24, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Interstellarpoliceman, I see you not putting in full size references. The following may help. To create a full reference, you need to fill in the selected wizard dialog that is available for creating specific reference types. It is available from the editor, when you edit. Look above, you will see a button called ''Cite''. There is Cite Web that conforms to wikipedia:cite web ↗, Cite News for wikipedia:cite news ↗ and cite book and cite journal. Select it, and fill the fields in, and it will automatically create the reference. At the moment your creating references which are not suitable for Wikipedia, and somebody is having to go around and recreated. Please create full references, instead of the short urls which are no use to anybody. scope_creep (talk) 10:50, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
:Oops! I will have a look! Thanks for the corrections, helps me to get better at this! Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 11:10, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

An article you recently created, Razzennest ↗, is not suitable as written to remain published. Proposed deletion ↗ of :Masking threshold (disambiguation) ↗

The article :Masking threshold (disambiguation) ↗ has been proposed for deletion ↗&#32;because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons ↗.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary ↗ or on the article's talk page ↗.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process ↗, but other deletion process ↗es exist. Deletion discussion about Austrian New Wave ↗

Hello Interstellarpoliceman, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Austrian New Wave ↗, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Austrian New Wave ↗.

Deletion discussions ↗ usually run for seven days and are ''not'' votes. Our guide ↗ about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability ↗, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with <code><nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>TheLongTone<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>. And don't forget to sign your reply with <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code> . Thanks!

Reginald LeBorg - Austrian-American film director

Greetings: Perhaps you are familiar with film director Reginald LeBorg ↗. As an editor to List of Austrian film directors ↗, do you think LeBorg might be suitable to list in this article? He did not direct any films in Austria or Germany, only in Hollywood. His bio seems rather interesting, nonetheless. 36hourblock (talk) 16:26, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

LLM use

Hello! Thank you for your work on Queer Museum Vienna ↗. However, due to certain language being used, I must ask, was this article created with the help of LLM tools? I should let you know that this is no longer allowed on Wikipedia, JTtheOG (talk) 18:56, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

:I used it for proofreading because I’m not a native speaker. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 19:20, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
::It appears you used LLM tools to generate text as well. Am I incorrect in this assessment? JTtheOG (talk) 21:22, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
:::I understand that using LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is not allowed, while basic copyediting of one’s own work is treated differently. I reviewed the wording myself and did not intentionally introduce any AI-generated claims or unsourced material.
:::That said, if particular sentences read as too polished, promotional, or LLM-like, I’m happy to rewrite them manually in a more neutral Wikipedia style. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 22:17, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
::::So to clarify, you're confirming you used LLM tools to generate some text for the article? JTtheOG (talk) 23:49, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::I did use an LLM in a limited way, mainly for English-language proofreading and wording suggestions, because I am not a native English speaker.
:::::My understanding was that WP prohibits generating or rewriting article content, but allows basic copyediting of one’s own work. I did not use it to find sources/create citations/invent facts/add unchecked claims...
:::::If I misunderstood the rule, I’m happy to correct this. I have contributed to Wikipedia for years and do not want to harm the project. I can rewrite any problematic sentences manually or remove them. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 06:58, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::I’m adding a question: So, would it be better to use Google Translate or DeepL for these kinds of copy-editing tasks? ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 07:54, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Blocked for sockpuppetry

{{checkuserblock-account|sig=In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 12:37, 11 June 2026 (UTC)|spi=Interstellarpoliceman|indef=yes}}

:Could you please explain the reasoning for this? I'm using this account for many years. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 12:48, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
::Indeed, given that, it was quite depressing to observe the sockpuppetry. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 12:57, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
:::One possible explanation for a false technical association is that I edit from a shared institutional network in Vienna. My internet access is routed through cultural/institutional infrastructure connected with the Vienna cultural backbone environment, where the same public IP or IP range may be shared by a large number of different institutions and users. This could make unrelated users appear technically connected.
:::I am happy to provide further details privately if needed, including information about the institution/network context, but I would prefer not to post identifying network or workplace details publicly on-wiki. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 13:00, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
::::That is insufficient to explain your connection to these accounts. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 13:07, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::Jasmin Hagendorfer is a curator here in Vienna. She is very much her own person.
:::::juri is also working over at HOSI.
:::::Who else are we talking about? ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 13:16, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::The full list is at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Interstellarpoliceman ↗. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 13:19, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::I see. I can understand why Jasmin would have joined that AfD discussion: she is a curator in Vienna, part of the wider cultural scene, and she openly mentioned her connection to Fichter in the AfD. But she is not me.
:::::::'juri' is connected to HOSI / queer cultural work in Vienna, and therefore also plausibly interested in that discussion. But he is also not me.
:::::::As mentioned, my possible explanation for any technical overlap is that I sometimes edit from shared cultural/institutional networks in Vienna, including infrastructure connected to MuseumsQuartier, where I used to work as an intern for a long time and where many cultural workers and related institutions may share overlapping network environments.
:::::::I do not know the other accounts well enough to explain them. Maybe someone from the monochrom environment, that could explain a social/contextual overlap around Fichter or Vienna cultural topics, but that account is also not me.
:::::::I am happy to give more specific details privately through the appropriate appeal process, because I do not want to post identifying workplace/network details publicly on-wiki.
:::::::I do not want to be nitpicky or aggressive here. I understand that the technical evidence may look concerning from your side. I do not want to harm the project; I value Wikipedia and have edited in good faith for a long time, including on German Wikipedia. If helpful, I am happy for my editing behaviour there to be reviewed as additional context. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 13:44, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::The chances that 4 accounts on the same IP/narrow range would edit the same AfD discussion seems astronomical. Also three of the four accounts that edited the page linked in the SPI also edited another AfD ↗. Interstellarpoliceman, you might as well be honest and admit that you were socking if those accounts are yours. Maybe you won't have to go through standard offer ↗ to get unblocked. --Prothe1st (leave me a message)-- 22:44, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::Folks, I understand your anger, and I understand why this looks extremely bad from your side.
:::::::::I want to be clear: I take responsibility for what I did wrong. I alerted people in my queer/art/activist circles in Vienna to the AfD discussion. Some of them then joined the discussion. I understand now that this is not acceptable and that it can be understood as canvassing or meatpuppetry. I should not have done that.
:::::::::At the same time, I want to state clearly that these accounts are not sockpuppets controlled by me. I understand why the narrow IP range looks damning. But there is a concrete explanation for that: we are all in the same large office, where we are currently organizing Pride-related events. Around 50 people work here at the MQ and over at hosi, sharing the same infrastructure, networks, and sometimes workstations. Many of us are involved in the same queer, cultural, activist, filmmaker circles. (This also concerns the discussion about "Austrian New Wave".)
:::::::::That does not make what happened okay. I am not using this as an excuse. I am only trying to explain why several real people with overlapping interests may appear from the same technical environment.
:::::::::The wrongdoing was that I brought attention to the AfD among people who know me and share the same advocacy context. That was my mistake, and I accept responsibility for it. But it was not a case of me operating fake accounts.
:::::::::I have created many articles about queer art in Vienna and Europe, and I care deeply about documenting this field properly. That does not exempt me from the rules. I understand that trust has been damaged, and I accept whatever penalty you think is appropriate. Mea culpa. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 09:09, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::Every one of your explanations has been better than the last, so I have hope we'll get there eventually. But this explanation, too, does not fully explain the data. And you know that. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 19:20, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::Part of why I blocked you indefinitely from the jump is because this explanation is not remotely plausible, but you clearly intended for it to ''appear'' plausible. Maybe at one point those accounts were indeed operated by those people. It certainly does not appear that they are now. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 23:09, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::See my reply to User:Prothe1st. Other than that, I can only say: please observe my future behavior on the German Wikipedia, where I am most active. Thank you. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 13:39, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::You also need to address your WP:Conflict of interest ↗ regarding monochrom ↗ (ex. Der Exot ↗, Lord Jim Lodge ↗, Georg Paul Thomann ↗, List of projects by monochrom ↗ and so forth). S0091 (talk) 15:31, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::I have addressed this question before: I do not have a conflict of interest with monochrom. If anything, I am a fan, and I hope that is not a problem.
:::::::::::My general interests include underground art, queer art, and independent film in Austria. I recently reworked the article on the Vienna Shorts film festival, among other things. I am also interested in leftist politics, as shown, for example, by my work on the Antideutsche article.
:::::::::::I should also mention that I was an intern at the MuseumsQuartier for two years. However, I no longer work there and am not being paid by them. So if there are any concerns about my edits to the MuseumsQuartier article, I want to be transparent about that. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 10:13, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::I am genuinely very sorry about all of this, especially for Kero Fichter, who had nothing to do with any of it and whose article may now end up being deleted because I made to look all of it suspicious.
:::::::::So I would like to say the following:
:::::::::I do not want to insult anyone's intelligence. You identified what was going on fairly accurately.
:::::::::What I can honestly admit to is a form of meatpuppetry, or at least something close to it. The people connected to this account are real people. Just not very active.
:::::::::What I do take responsibility for is helping to coordinate and facilitate this. We move in the same circles, we regularly meet at the office, and we work together on various queer advocacy projects. At some point, the conversation turned to whether we should help out with this matter. In practice, that meant people sitting down at my workstation and making edits from there. Or they would simply tell me, "You do it. You're the computer person. I don't know how any of this stuff works anyway."
:::::::::For that, I accept responsibility. It was wrong, and I am sorry.
:::::::::Wikipedia genuinely means a great deal to me. I have contributed to it for the better part of twenty years and invested a tremendous amount of time and energy into it. I do not want things like this to happen.
:::::::::I am sorry that my desire to support people and topics that I consider important ultimately came into conflict with Wikipedia's rules and principles. That was not okay. I am not trying to justify it; I am apologizing for it. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 10:08, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::Okay, this is much better. We have two remaining problems. One, it took quite a lot of tooth-pulling to get to this admission. I expect that you may be asked to follow the standard offer ↗ when you request an unblock. Two, those other accounts are, for all intents and purposes, compromised accounts. At present, I'm not sure what to do about that one. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 00:54, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::I understand. I will not ask for an unblock for at least six months. No worries.
:::::::::::Also, I will let my people know that, if they want to keep working on Wikipedia, they will most likely have to create new accounts, because their old ones are burnt. Do I understand that correctly?
:::::::::::Another question: I have already heard from our ISP that people tried to edit Wikipedia, but the IP address is now affected because of my behavior. Is it possible to apply for an exception? I honestly do not want to prevent other people from contributing because I messed up. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 12:41, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::No, don't tell them to make new accounts. They will be blocked as sockpuppets of the already blocked accounts. They will need to open block appeals. The IP block cannot be lifted while there are blocked editors trying to use the IP. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 15:51, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::What is your relationship to {{noping|Grenz}} who was blocked as part of your group? This goes back to the COI question because they have stated ↗ they are ":Johannes Grenzfurthner of monochrom ↗." S0091 (talk) 17:59, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::He is an acquaintance of someone in our advocacy group. I was an intern at MuseumsQuartier, and they have been active in Vienna art circles for many years.
:::::::::::::I have followed their work for some time and consider it important, which is why I have updated some content related to them. I have tried to keep my edits factual, sourced, and neutral. I am not concerned that the edits contain factual inaccuracies. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 10:49, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::You are not being honest. You are coordinating with Grenz or operating their account. For example, Genz uploaded this photo ↗ 21 May 2026 at 13:28. A couple minutes later at 13:31, you add it ↗ to MuseumsQuartier ↗. S0091 (talk) 18:06, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::::What happened is simple: I sent them an email asking whether they would be willing to upload images (can't remember the topic) to Wikimedia Commons themselves, because I do not have the legal right to do that. I have done this before, including with directors, queer activists, artists, and others. The quality and availability of images on Commons, especially for Austrian art-related topics, is often quite poor.
:::::::::::::::Most of the time, people either do not care, or it becomes too complicated to explain how Commons works. Sometimes it works. I was not trying to hide anything, and I am far beyond the point of trying to lie about this.
:::::::::::::::So this is an honest question: is asking someone to upload images of their work already considered COI?
:::::::::::::::One more question, because I saw the flag: for years, the monochrom article had a note saying that the “long” list of monochrom projects should be split into its own list article. That is what I did. I now saw that you flagged it as “excessively long.”
:::::::::::::::Not that I am in a position to resolve this, but I do find it a bit puzzling. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 15:21, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::::Some of us can see the technical logs - there is really no point making statements like this. Either you have been operating the Grenz account (which is what it looks like to me), or Grenz is amongst the group people you refer to above, who gather in your office and use your workstation to edit. Either of those scenarios goes beyond a simple 'I emailed them and asked them to upload an image', so your 'honest' question is moot. <span style="font-family:Impact;color:#006400;">Girth</span>&nbsp;<span style="font-family:Impact;color:#4B0082;">Summit</span> (blether) 16:27, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::::::Interstellarpoliceman, I will leave this last comment. Having a COI in and of itself is not a big deal as the vast majority of Wikipedia editors have a COI with at least one topic. I sure do. My remedy is not not edit that topic. The other option is to be transparent, declare your COI (no need to say who you are or how you have a COI; only that you do) and follow a couple simple rules, make edit requests and submit drafts to AfC.
:::::::::::::::::However, for what ever reason, you have chose the worst path throughout your time here--deceit. You were asked about your COIs back in 2018, including about Johannes Grenzfurthner ↗ (User:Grenz) then again in 2022 so you can not claim ignorance. You knew the rules, chose not to follow them then most recently went as far as socking/meat puppetry. I will also not according to the monochrom ↗ article, it's offices are at MuseumsQuartier ↗, the place you say you worked. I mean, come on! Should you or any of the other accounts pursue getting unblocked, all of that will need to be addressed. S0091 (talk) 20:12, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::::::I said that I was an unpaid intern at MuseumsQuartier years ago, as you mention. MuseumsQuartier hosts around 90 institutions, from art magazines and TV stations to architecture museums, dance collectives, art groups (e.g. monochrom). It hosts art events every day, including Vienna Shorts, which I also edited. In Austria, it is nearly impossible to write about art without also writing about institutions or events connected to MuseumsQuartier.
::::::::::::::::::The Austrian Film Institute, whose article I also edited, is the central public funding institution for film in Austria. No major Austrian films are made without ÖFI funding. Everyone in Austria who works in film has some connection to ÖFI. It is absurd to claim that I work for them or that this automatically creates a COI.
::::::::::::::::::I am only saying that it is necessary to know a bit about Austria, film, and the local scene to understand this, rather than calling me a liar. I regret dragging other people into my discussion of Fichter; that was foolish and stupid and unnecessary. But I disclosed that I was an unpaid intern at MQ years ago. I did not lie about it.
::::::::::::::::::I saw that you moved several of my articles to draftspace, which is totally fine. All of them are properly sourced, and I hope someone else will start taking care of them. I think I laid a solid foundation.
::::::::::::::::::The last thing I want is to hurt the topics I care about here. ☆☆☆ interstellarpoliceman ☆☆☆ 13:02, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
