So I had a look again at Jerry West ↗...
There seem to be some inline citations in the lead.
...and if that's the case, for consistency, there should be inline citations for the latest edit. I'll go ahead and add them, unless you want to add the citation names yourself.⸺RandomStaplers 21:55, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
:* We should probably place the citations at the end, like the rest of the lead⸺RandomStaplers 21:56, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
:It's a bit of a mess, isn't it? Citations only begin showing up in the third paragraph of the lead. I suspect it might be better (and easier) to move those citations into the main article body somehow. Sounds like you have a plan though, and I'll be happy to step aside. Jōkepedia (talk) 22:02, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
::* I've gone ahead and cited the tertiary sources in the lead. They're not the best sources, but they seem to corroborate most of the lead. You can go ahead and edit again, if you like.⸺RandomStaplers 22:05, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
::*:Works for me, thanks! Maybe when things quiet down on that page, a rewrite will be in order to better integrate all of the recent additions. That could include moving much of the lead's info down into the main article body. Jōkepedia (talk) 22:16, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
::*:But... I guess that doesn't work for everyone. Seems to me most of the current lead could be turned into a Career Highlights section instead, leaving only a true summary. I'll try to wrap my head around that when I have more time. Jōkepedia (talk) 01:03, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

About edits to the article Tai Chi ↗
Hello. The instructions you sent ↗ also mention this sentence: "As in the body of the article itself, the emphasis given to material in the lead should roughly reflect its importance to the topic, according to reliable, published sources". The references I added were on-topic, one of them linked to the government website of the US, where I don’t think there was advertising, and the last reference I added was about the types that were mentioned in the article. If there is still something I don't understand, please explain. As far as I know, most of the basic rules are the same on all Wikipedias. As an experienced contributor to the Azerbaijani Wikipedia, I also apply my experience to the English Wikipedia, and this is not my first contribution. Thank you in advance.PinkEmaa (talk) 23:00, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
- I have analyzed the links you have removed and you are right, there are suspicions of advertising on the sites I have linked. But I have added the link to the article that I do not suspect of advertising. I would like to ask you to look at the latest revision of the article and I would be grateful if you could share with me whether it is correct in this format.PinkEmaa (talk) 00:28, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
:Thank you for adding that citation to the body of the article. You had added it to the summary after I posted to your talk page so I removed it as well, but only because of the location. That is indeed a good reference, and is useful where and how you've used it now. The main issue was, as the Manual of Style says, citations are not required in a lead section. This is because the lead is a summary of information the body of the article, which should already be supported by citations. The Manual of Style further states that the necessity for citations in a lead should be determined on a case-by-case basis by editorial consensus, and that this generally only happens if the topic is complex, current, or controversial. If in the future you encounter articles with citations in the lead, it is likely that moving them into the body of the article and expanding on them there will improve those articles as you have done here. Thanks again. Jōkepedia (talk) 00:49, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
