:Marxist historiography ↗ and failed verification

Hi, I guess that the subject title will let you know what I have to say. As per my knowledge, Marxist historiography is a type of leftist historiography. Hence I feel that the critique by Jain and Muhammed applies directly. I would like to discuss it here. Thanks. IND123456 (talk) 04:20, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

:"Left historians" is the term used by Meenakshi Jain, which means historians that presumably follow a Leftist ideology. That is not "Marxist historiography". -- Kautilya3 (talk) 08:15, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

Small question out of curiosity about the Jeong Nala and the Burtsa Nala

Hello Kautilya3,

In the Depsang Plains area, do you know how is called the stream that flows into the Shyok River after the Chip Chap River and before the Galwan River? Is it the Jeong Nala or the Burtsa Nala? To put it another way, is it considered that the Jeong Nala flows into the Burtsa Nala, or the other way round? I can’t quite get a clear picture of it.

Thank you very much for your time and for any clarification you might be able to provide. Nivora (talk) 06:57, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

:They are both rivers fitting your description. Burtsa Nala ↗ flows in "Depsang Bulge" and is disputed by China and India (meaning the LAC is disputed). Jeong Nala ↗ is to the south of Depsang Bulge, and is almost entirely under Chinese control. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:10, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
::First of all, a huge thank you for taking the time to reply. I’m aware that my question doesn’t really matter much.
::I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your contributions, which I think are, in a word, great.
::Let me come back to my question, as I realise I wasn’t entirely clear or specific. Sorry for that.
::1) From a few articles on the English Wikipedia, I understand that the Jeong Nala is a tributary of the Burtsa Nala, which is itself a tributary of the Shyok River. The "progression" would be: Jeong Nala -> Burtsa Nala -> Shyok River. Example from the ‘Jeong Nala’ article: “It (Jeong Nala) finally confluence … with the Burtsa Nala …, and Burtsa Nala itself falls into Shyok River after”.
::2) From a few articles on the Chinese Wikipedia and from OpenStreetMap, I understand that the "progression" is actually: Burtsa Nala -> Jeong Nala -> Shyok River. Example from <nowiki>https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%A4%A9%E5%8D%97%E6%B2%B3</nowiki>: ‘The Tiannan River (which is the Burtsa Nala) is a tributary of the Xida Gou (which is the Jeong Nala), a tributary of the Shyok River.’
::3) Finally, from other texts and/or maps, I gather that there is no confluence between the Jeong Nala and the Burtsa Nala, and that both are direct tributaries of the Shyok River.
::I understand from your reply that the third option is the correct one. Have I understood correctly?
::Thank you once again. Nivora (talk) 11:43, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
:::It is true that Burtsa Nala and Jeong Nala merge at 34.99210, 77.99874, ''briefly'' before joining the Shyok River. This wasn't known in the old days and the two rivers were shown as independent tributaries. So I still talk about them the same way. It doesn't matter much what we call the merged river, but since the Chinese have established a precedent by calling it Jeong Nala, it is best to follow that terminology. So your option (2) is the correct one. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:00, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks a lot! Nivora (talk) 12:09, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

CTOP reminders

Hi K, it's been a while. Just letting you know - perhaps you are already aware - that CTOP awareness notices are no longer required, per an ArbCom motion, and also as a consequence of earlier CTOP reforms awareness does not expire. Old hands especially can be sanctioned immediately if their edits warrant it. Best, Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:22, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

:No, I wasn't aware. I saw there was an ARBCOM discussion but didn't check the end result. I think the old CTOP system worked well. So I will continue to follow it, unless somebody says it is not allowed. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:26, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Naga-Kuki conflict

There's already outdated page about the Kuki–Naga conflict in Manipur ↗. Why not update it instead of adding that conflict to the Manipur conflict ↗. As far as I know, Naga-Kuki conflict is inherently different from the Manipur conflict, provided it is true NSCN has allied with Meitei groups. ~ AnonLionCavalier83 (talk) 10:37, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

:The sources regard it as part of the Manipur conflict. Some summary of it can also go into the Kuki-Naga conflict in Manipur ↗. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:05, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
::Kuki-Naga conflict existed before this one. Better to update there, too. ~ AnonLionCavalier83 (talk) 11:16, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

@Kautilya3 The suggest edit text in the talk page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Indigenous_Aryanism) has not been generated by AI beyond basic copy editing, which normally happens in almost every environments today. This text was inserted in an article and was provided as suggested text for review and further editing by others. COI

Do you have a conflict of interest ↗ with regards to any recent subject of your editing? This includes being in communication with a subject or those related to it. 331dot (talk) 12:26, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

:That's very vague. <span style="font-family:Forte;color:black">Joshua Jonathan</span> - <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;color:black">Let's talk!</span> 13:28, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for your views. 331dot (talk) 13:32, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:{{U|331dot}}, I have interacted with the director of Hindu American Foundation ↗ (HAF) on twitter/X. That has been discussed at ANI ↗ for no good reason. Recently, they teamed up with Rindsberg and did an "expose" ↗, treating me as one of the villains. Is that COI? Not a chance.
:In the Manipur conflict ↗, it is well-known that I side with the Kukis as the victimised community, just as I might side with the Palestanians if I was covering Israel-Palestine conflict. The Meitei community made me "famous" among the Kukis by targeting me personally, and now Kukis often consult me as an expert on history, politics or human rights. I have given several talks online and offline, and interviews that have been published on YouTube. None of that counts as COI. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 13:38, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
::I have received off wiki information as a WP:COIVRT ↗ member, and I believe you should disclose a conflict of interest with regards to the HAF. It is true that mere agreement with a cause is not a conflict of interest, but it's more than that. 331dot (talk) 13:48, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:::I haven't had any private communications with HAF. If you received something to that effect, it is certainly fake. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 13:54, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
::::I didn't say it was private. 331dot (talk) 13:59, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:::::Ok, thanks. If it is the twitter discussion that is being referred to, it can be discussed here, over and above what has already been discussed at ANI. I was merely defending the content that I contributed, against criticisms from the HAF director and her supporters, and inviting them to challenge it here by whatever means they want to use. I said all this already at ANI. If somebody is not satisfied, they are welcome to raise it ANI all over again. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 15:08, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
