DYK nomination

I've submitted a nom for a "Did you know" feature on Wikipedia's home page: Template:Did you know nominations/Van Dorn Hooker ↗. It usually takes a few days to a month for reviews to be completed and the DYK to be promoted to the front page. Good work, by the way! Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 01:02, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

"Anglo"

Hello, there is no need to link to "Anglo", or to put quotation marks around it, per MOS:OL ↗ and MOS:SCAREQUOTES ↗. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:37, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

:Hello, and thanks for your response. I take your point about the quotation marks, but I do think that the link to Anglo#United States ↗ is appropriate: Many readers within regions with large Hispanic presence (myself included, when I lived in NM) routinely use "Anglo" to describe virtually any European-lineage person, but I suspect many outside those regions aren't familiar with this usage (It's certainly true here in the UK). I've since discovered (without specifically looking for them) several instances in Southwestern US Wiki articles which use Anglo casually, and have added the link - albeit without the quotation marks.

June 2026

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, :Tohatchi, New Mexico ↗, but you didn't provide a reliable source ↗. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable ↗. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation ↗, your edit is archived in the page history ↗. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:21, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hello @Magnolia677, obviously I am not @Kokopelli-UK, however I'm familiar with their editing, and they are totally a good faith editor. Having done a lot of work on-Wiki myself, and research and fieldwork off-Wiki on Navajo and Pueblo topics, I think their edits are good, it's just that they need to make sure that they always source added content properly, and I'm happy to work with them if Kokopelli-UK is agreeable. What say, Kokopelli?
:I also think that edits like adding the image of a Two Grey Hills rug was perfectly fine, and should be restored. It is not simply decorative, and Two Grey Hills is an important style that originates from this area. I also think it's ok to add Jim Chee ↗, as long as it is clear that he is a fictional person. He would belong in a new section called "In popular culture" or something like that. Because Chee has his own well sourced article, it may not be necessary to add a source, altho it's best practice to do so.
:I haven't looked thru all the edits yet, but this popped up on my watchlist, so I thought I'd reach out to the both of you. Cheers and hope your early summer days are going well. Best regards, Netherzone (talk) 00:14, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you very much! I've already made the Jim Chee amendments to Tohatchi, New Mexico ↗ much as you've described, and will reinstall the rug image if Magnolia677 ↗ doesn't himself. I've crossed paths with him a few times before, usually helpful but 3 or 4 times that my edits have been wrongly deleted - I suspect because he hasn't thoroughly checked the context and/or content. (I'm male, by the bye, so the "they" needn't apply) Kokopelli-UK (talk) 08:20, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
:::{{ping|Netherzone}} Could you please discuss this on the article talk page. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:46, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
::::@Magnolia677: Thanks for adding info and images of the schools. I will reintroduce the rug image, the Jim See entry as supported by @Netherzone, and also add a “red” link to Juanita as requested.
::::One request, though: You’ve twice reverted my edits (Tohatchi and Embudo, New Mexico ↗ while I had these pages open and was actually in process of editing. A simple “citation required” would be sufficient, and easier for me to correct without risking an editing war. I do follow through on these, even if it’s hours or even days later. (l rarely edit continuously, probably averaging an hour or so per day) Kokopelli-UK (talk) 19:53, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
::Sure thing, @Magnolia677, and a nice Sunday (and a Father's Day if that applies) to the both of you. Netherzone (talk) 16:09, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
:::Kokopelli-UK, please stop adding a picture of a rug to an article about a community in New Mexico. The image you are adding is already on Navajo weaving ↗. Please start a discussion on the article talk page. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:07, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
::::@Magnolia677, it is totally relevant to have an image of Two Grey Hills woven rug in this article. Two Grey Hills weaving style is indigenous to this place/village. It is culturally relevant, and ''very much so''. I had added two images to show the variation within the style which you also deleted.
::::Please stop removing the image(s), especially after I had added an entire sourced paragraph about this style of Navajo weaving to the article. Thanks and best, Netherzone (talk) 21:30, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::I have started a discussion on the article talk page. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:43, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::There already is a discussion on talk. Could you please move your suggestions to the one that is already present there? Thanks and best, Netherzone (talk) 23:33, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
