OrphanTalk
Hi. First, I wanted to thank you for all those great technical helps. There is something that I noticed recently; I think OrphanTalk is out of service, just wanted to ask if you are going to fix it. Thanks. AhmadTalk ↗ 19:10, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
:@Ahmad Hi, this happens due to phab:T166949 ↗. If you're on Freenode IRC, you can always ask in <code>#wikimedia-cloud</code> for the tool to be restarted (be sure to mention "T166949"). I have restarted it now. Thanks! --Krinkle (talk) 20:02, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
::Thank you! I'll check IRC from now on. AhmadTalk ↗ 20:06, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Category:Foo
Hi Krinkle
A series of userpage scripts have recently started populating the :Category:Foo ↗, which does not exist. Per WP:REDNOT ↗, this is an error, so it shows up at Special:WantedCategories ↗.
the editors who usually clean up Special:WantedCategories ↗ can't fix this, because user scripts have some form of protection.
However, as far as I can see all of this results from a series of edits by you, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:AxelBoldt/Gadget-popups.js&diff=948742907&oldid=668764465 ↗ and https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Amalthea/popups.js&diff=948190416&oldid=668764561 ↗.
I am not certain, but I think that the problem is is in the line: <code><nowiki>// eg [[category:foo]] and [[Category:Foo]] </nowiki></code>
If so, that can be easily fixed by inserting a singe colon after the square brackets, changing it to <code><nowiki>// eg [[:category:foo]] and [[:Category:Foo]] </nowiki></code>
So please can you do whatever is needed to fix this?
Thanks. --<span style="font-variant:small-caps"><span style="color:#663200;">Brown</span>HairedGirl</span> <small>(talk) • (contribs ↗)</small> 03:20, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
:Hi @BrownHairedGirl,
:I'm afraid there's not much I could have done here. Note that my edit did not introduce the category link, and these handful of pages would have ended up in those categories with or without my edit (whether from someone making an invisible null-edit, or from someone editing a mentioned template, or someone purging it via <code>action=purge</code>).
:The reason the page was not already in the category before, was that the category link happened to be after an unrelated <code><nowiki></code> tag earlier in the same user script. Before my edit, the page was last rendered in 2015. In 2015, the wiki software considered all wikitext after an extension tag (such as <code><nowiki></code>) to be processed by that extension, even if there was no <code></nowiki></code> closing tag anywhere following it. In 2016, the wiki software was changed to only parse extension tags that have an end (Example ↗). Any purge, null-edit, template update, jobqueue update, or regular edit after 2016 would have re-parsed the page in this way. A small number of affected pages managed to go without any kind of purge in 5 years, until my edit. I hope that makes sense! --Krinkle (talk) 23:23, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
::Thanks for the explanation. The problem was resolved in this edithttps://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Amalthea/popups.js&diff=954798778&oldid=954798596 ↗ by User:Amorymeltzer, which just added the colons. --<span style="font-variant:small-caps"><span style="color:#663200;">Brown</span>HairedGirl</span> <small>(talk) • (contribs ↗)</small> 15:03, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
saveandedit.js
User:Mabdul/saveandedit.js isn't working anymore. You're the only one who has edited it in years, and your edits were merely to deal with updating deprecated API calls. While you're certainly welcome to troubleshoot and fix it, it's probably not worth the effort. I'd suggest replacing the script with an error message such as User:Smith609/toolbox.js. It's page protected so I can't do it myself. Daask (talk) 19:28, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

RTRC filters
Hı {{ping|Krinkle}}, I'm a patroller from Turkish Wikipedia who uses usually RTRC instead of recent changes. I have a request about RTRC filters. Is it possible to do hide AWB users & Template & only category changes with additional filters? "Hide patrolled edits" filter doesn't work for AWB users & Template & there are a lot of category changes, so it's hard to follow ip users & new registered users within that much changes.--Can (talk) 09:46, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to :Vici Gaming ↗ when you modified the page, you introduced {{cl|Unknown parameters|unknown parameters}}. Just because you specify {{para|some_param|{{var|some_variable}}}} does not always mean that variable will display. The {{para|some_param}} must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a '''Show preview''' button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history ↗ of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk ↗ for assistance.

Care
Hallo, Please take care when linking names - the Dan Davies who wrote ''The Unaccountability Machine ↗'' was born 1973 according to his publisher, so is not Dan Davies (writer) ↗, born 1970. <span style="color: green">'''''Pam'''''</span><span style="color: brown">'''''D'''''</span> 20:44, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
:The plot thickens: his publisher have described Daniel Davies on their page about the book ↗, but they link from that page to a page about a Dan Davies ↗ who is not the same person! But I'm sure neither of them is the Dan Davies (writer) ↗ who wrote ''In Plain Sight'' about Jimmy Savile ↗. <span style="color: green">'''''Pam'''''</span><span style="color: brown">'''''D'''''</span> 20:52, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
:@PamD: Thanks. I've emailed the publishing house and asked them to sort it out. Krinkle (talk) 21:18, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
