Why do I get the feeling that the IP is user:Armeniansarebest? Your thoughts? --Kansas Bear (talk) 16:37, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

:{{re|Kansas Bear}}. I'm very confident that this is the same user, and reported that at User talk:Ingenuity/Archive 11#Armen888 SPI. No one else is obsessed with replacing links to Armenia ↗ with links to Armenians ↗.
:On that edit, perhaps my edit comment was beside the point, because {{slink|Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography#Context}} says we shouldn't mention ethnicity in the lede even if it is verifiable.
:On the ancestry/ethnicity claim, our articles document that the Bagrationi dynasty ↗ of Georgia and the Bagratuni dynasty ↗ of Armenia are branches of the same family ↗. I have no knowledge of this topic, but Bagrationi dynasty#Origins ↗ indicates uncertainty. It's not uncommon for these kinds of historical ethnicity claims to be asymmetric controversies only studied by partisan scholars promoting ethnic nationalism ↗; often there isn't sufficient evidence to be confident, and less partisan historians don't find it interesting or important to study. ::Sorry to keep bothering you, but what are your thoughts on this editor ↗? --Kansas Bear (talk) 20:58, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
:::I don't mind. Special:Diff/1247863470 ↗ clearly indicates an experienced Wikipedia editor; that's a particularly arcane piece of template syntax. However, they don't yet have enough edit history for me to link them to Armen888/Armeniansarebest. Daask (talk) 22:08, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this '''anonymous survey ↗'''.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page ↗ and view its privacy statement ↗ .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team ↗

Reminder to participate in Wikipedia research

Hello,

I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Wikipedia. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page ↗ and view its privacy statement ↗.

Take the survey '''here ↗'''.

Error on template

Hello. First of all, thanks for creating Template:Translated blockquote ↗. :) I recently used it in one of my articles when it was brought to my attention that it's showing a error message. It appears to be persistent on the template page itself. Would it possible for you to check it out and see if it's something easily fixable? Thank you. --Saxum (talk) 14:34, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

:{{Re|Saxum}} Thanks for bringing this to my attention! It's the result of a recent changes to Module:Lang ↗ which removed some features. Proposed deletion ↗ of :Common purse ↗

left|link=|alt=Notice|48px| ↗

The article :Common purse ↗ has been proposed for deletion ↗&#32;because of the following concern:
<blockquote>'''Wikipedia is not a dictionary.'''</blockquote>

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons ↗.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary ↗ or on the article's talk page ↗.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process ↗, but other deletion process ↗es exist. Pazzi conspiracy

Hi, Daask, how are you? May I draw your attention to WP:CITEVAR ↗, which starts: "{{teal|Editors should not attempt to change an article's established citation style, merely on the grounds of personal preference or to make it match other articles, without first seeking consensus for the change}}"? And particularly to WP:CITEVARNO ↗, the "To be avoided" section: "{{teal|adding citation templates to an article that already uses a consistent system without templates, or removing citation templates from an article that uses them consistently}}"? As it happens, I established the (list-defined, template-free) citation style in that particular article ↗ when I started it from a redirect in 2013 (that doesn't mean I own it, of course), so reverted your addition of the templates – which I'm sure was done in good faith, but was mistaken in the circumstances. WP:Edit-warring ↗ is never acceptable in this project (and obviously the CITEVAR guidance is there to prevent it); would you kindly self-revert your inappropriate re-addition of the templates? Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:14, 19 September 2025 (UTC)

:{{re|Justlettersandnumbers}} When on the page (Permalink ↗), I noticed that the archived links in the middle of the citation made the citations hard to read. These were likely introduced by a bot ↗. I thought it was easiest to rectify this by introducing templates. I acknowledge that it was a mistake to do so on this page which had a consistent citation style without the use of citation templates, and will seek to be more careful about this in the future. I also should have been more clear in my edit summary of Diff/1312142524 ↗ that I wasn't restoring the templates, but rather only restored other citation improvements from my prior edit. Do you object to this edit? Daask (talk) 15:08, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
::Hi again! Thanks for your courteous reply to my grumpy message – clearly the coffee hadn't kicked in properly when I wrote that, my apologies! Your edits certainly contain some necessary improvements, for which thank you; I'll now try to keep those while fixing several things including those {{tL|webarchive}} templates (my technique is to use the archived link (if it's needed) and blitz the rest of it). Thanks for your help, regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:59, 19 September 2025 (UTC)

An unnecessary COI tag?

Hello, I noticed that you left a COI tag on Wikipedia page Thomas Knaus ↗ over five months ago. Back in early May, I posted the following note on the page's talk page. I would appreciate it if you could take a look at it:

I would like to raise a note regarding the maintenance template currently placed on this article indicating a possible close connection between a contributor and the subject. I want to be transparent that I am the subject of this article. In line with Wikipedia’s guidelines on conflict of interest, I have tried to avoid directly editing the article in ways that could compromise neutrality. Instead, I have reviewed the current version carefully.

From my perspective, the article appears to be factually accurate, up to date, and written in a neutral tone. Most statements are supported by reliable sources, and I do not see obvious promotional language or undue weight at this stage. However, I fully acknowledge that this assessment should ultimately be made by independent editors. Therefore, I would kindly ask uninvolved contributors to review the article with regard to neutrality, sourcing, and balance. If any issues are identified, I would very much welcome suggestions for improvement here on the talk page. If, on the other hand, the concerns addressed by the template are no longer applicable, I would appreciate consideration of its removal. Thank you very much for your time and for maintaining the quality and integrity of Wikipedia. Best regards, Thomas &#126;2026-31216-76 ↗ (talk) 10:13, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

:Your post here is deeply misleading and dishonest. You are effectively the sole writer and editor of this page. Please read Wikipedia:Autobiographies ↗. Daask (talk) 14:36, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
::Hello @Daask, I would like to respond to the statement that I am "effectively the sole writer and editor of this page." This appears to be a misunderstanding. The article about me has existed for many years and was neither created nor maintained by me. As can be verified from the article history, numerous editors have contributed to it over time. My own involvement has been very limited: In January 2026, I corrected my institutional affiliation after outdated information had remained in the article for several months. Apart from that, I have not been responsible for creating, maintaining, or substantially developing the article. For this reason, I do not believe it is accurate to characterize me as the sole or primary author of the page. A review of the edit history should make this clear. I fully support Wikipedia's policies regarding autobiographies, conflict of interest, and neutral point of view. At the same time, I would appreciate it if any concerns could be based on the actual editing record rather than assumptions about authorship. I therefore respectfully ask uninvolved editors to review the article history and reassess whether the current notices remain justified. Thank you for your time and consideration. &#126;2026-34866-27 ↗ (talk) 07:41, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
