Re: Template:Gangan Joker ↗

Hello, I'm here to discuss the usefulness of this template. I'm aware that other, similar templates currently exist for currently running series in magazines, such as {{tl|Series in Weekly Shōnen Jump}} and {{tl|Series in Hana to Yume}} (as well as 7 others), but a template of this nature for series that simply appeared in a magazine are rare (the only examples I can think of are the {{tl|Weekly Shōnen Jump - 1968–1979}} family, and that's only for the most notable series for those years). <s>So before you might have been thinking about doing similar templates for Gangan Comics ↗ magazines, I would ask that you reconsider the usefulness of the template in its current form, and if perhaps we can't reshape it to be more in line with the first two templates I linked. However, since there appears to only be 3 or 4 series that are currently still being serialized in the magazine that have articles, it may be better to simply delete ↗ the template and go with a category instead.</s> I apologize, I didn't notice at first that the templates had already been created by another editor last year. However, I still think that navboxes such as this and {{tl|Comic Flapper}} may not be necessary, and that a category may be a better way to organize all the series that were serialized in these magazines, such as with :Category:Dengeki Daioh ↗. Just {{tl|ping}} me here so we can keep the discussion in one place.--<span style="background:white;color:">'''<span style="color:black;">十</span>''''''<span style="color:red;">八</span>'''</span> 10:51, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Edits regarding TLOZ

Hi,

Since you seem new, in this edit ↗ I appreciate the change of "2016 video game" to "upcoming video game". However, changing "1986 video game" to "video game" is, for the most part, inappropriate, per WP:REDIRECT ↗. --Izno (talk) 14:56, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
:And I see that someone has commented exactly like this a year ago. Please don't do that. --Izno (talk) 14:56, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Manga volumes

Hey, Landingdude13. There's been a good you are great editor to keep the released volumes of manga updated. However, as far I as remember, you always do only this ↗. Nothing wrong with the edit itself but as long as the prose says "as of November 6, 2015, four volumes have been released" you could have updated it too, right? Sometimes you do update the prose (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Seven_Deadly_Sins_(manga)&diff=prev&oldid=695999140 ↗, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rin-ne&diff=prev&oldid=695999248 ↗) but in both cases you do something equally troubling: you update the text but not the source. And this is especially complicated because it makes the article violate WP:V ↗. If possible, you when you update a manga article, you could update infobox, prose, and references - and then you have a complete job. You're not obligated to, I know, and I don't want you to take it as an offense or something like that... it's just a tip as it would be good if you do it to keep the articles in a better state. Cheers, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 04:13, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Hi please start using edit summaries ↗ so editors can tell at a glance what changes you made to an article without having to look at the diff. This would be very helpful, especially because you appear in my watchlist a lot and I can't tell if these edits are routine maintenance or something significant. Opencooper (talk) 12:39, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Mass edit of redirects

Hey, re: your recent mass edits removing "1986" from The Legend of Zelda (video game) ↗, please see the guideline on redirects that are not broken ↗. There was no harm in leaving them as they were, especially as the page is likely to need further disambiguation again some day. 14px|link=user:czar/watching|I am no longer watching this pageping if you'd like a response ↗&nbsp;<span style="background:#F0F0FF; padding:3px 9px 4px"><span style='font:bold small-caps 1.2em Avenir;color:#B048B5'>czar</span></span> 04:31, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

:: Landingdude, I recommend that you voluntarily abstain from these types of edits (mass changes of redirects) for the future, especially as you have opted to not acknowledge prior messages or otherwise explain yourself. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Welcome to Wikipedia ↗. ::Wikis are user-contributed, so they can't be used as sources for anything on Wikipedia. For this sort of thing, we need to know Araki's intent - basically, we need a direct statement from Araki or his company, Lucky Land Communications, saying that a character was named after so-and-so. This can sometimes be found in interviews or in the author notes in the manga volumes. I know there have been JoJo artbooks as well in Japan, but haven't purchased any - it's possible there is some information in them that can be used, too.--IDVtalk 08:12, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

John McCain and Su Chia-chyuan

Hi. I assume you changed the outlink in John McCain ↗ from Su Jia-chyuan ↗ to Su Chia-chyuan ↗ because the former is currently a redirect to the latter. Based on sources, I've proposed swapping the redirect and the article, since the three apparently authoritative sources use Jia. Categories

When adding categories to articles, please keep in mind the general rule at WP:Categorization ↗: "[E]ach categorized page should be placed in all of the most specific categories to which it logically belongs. This means that if a page belongs to a subcategory of C (or a subcategory of a subcategory of C, and so on) then it is not normally placed directly into C." In accordance with this rule, please check to see if the category you are adding is a subcategory or parent category of a category already listed in the article.

For example, at :Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling ↗, you added the category :Category:Animated films based on animated series ↗ to the article, which is a subcategory of :Category:Films based on television series ↗. It would be appropriate to remove the parent category :Category:Films based on television series ↗ from the article since you added one of the category's subcategories. I've gone ahead and removed this for you, but please just keep this in mind in the future. Thanks. Aoi (青い) (talk) 02:23, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

National varieties of English

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello. In a recent edit&nbsp;to the page :Puzzle & Action: Treasure Hunt ↗, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English ↗ in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English ↗. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English ↗. For something related to another English-speaking country ↗, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the ''original'' author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style ↗. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-lang --> Adam9007 (talk) 14:13, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

I undid the recent move from Bill Melendez ↗ to Bill Meléndez ↗ per WP:COMMONNAME ↗. I explained more at Talk:Bill Melendez ↗. Reverting changes to George Floyd

Hi,

I’ve once again reverted your changes to the article on list of changes due to George Floyd. Unfortunately the sources you appear to be using fail to mention George Floyd as the reason for casting changes taking place. Given that pressure and campaigning to undertake race-accurate casting took place both before and after his death it’s a violation of WP:OR to assign causation ourselves to the recast.

I would suggest the changes might be better suited to a new article purely around racially-sensitive recasting rather than in the article you’re attempting to place them in. Rambling Rambler (talk) 07:29, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
