Bodyscape ↗ moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Bodyscape ↗, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable ↗, independent sources ↗. <small>(? ↗)</small> Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability ↗ is of central importance ↗ on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace ↗ (with a prefix of "<code>Draft:</code>" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline ↗ and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Yoga edits
Hi, I've noted your edits to various yoga pages, and see that you are trying to be constructive. However, some degree of knowledge is required even when making copy-edits. Yoga as therapy ↗ is a case in point, where you seem to have decided (without evidence) that the yoga in question cannot be the kind called 'yoga as exercise ↗'. Presumably you reasoned that if yoga is used as X it can't also be the kind often used as Y. However, 'yoga as exercise' is what the Western world generally calls "yoga" (we can't call it that, as the name is already taken) and academics call "Modern Postural Yoga", i.e. the use of multiple postures and transitions between them principally for exercise, with (and here's the rub) widely varying understandings and degrees of acceptance of yoga ↗'s history and purposes. This sort of yoga is exactly what is used 'as therapy'; another editor has rightly reverted your edits to the article. To sum up, more care, and more research, is required before making edits that change the sense. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:20, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
:My reasoning is: that’s what yoga is to the Western World, and Wikipedia is Western World, so on Wikipedia, that’s what yoga is. Lcporschen (talk) 10:28, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
::I see, but I'm afraid that doesn't work. We can't ignore the enormous elephant in the room, classical Yoga ↗, a spiritual discipline practised in India for some 2,000 years: nor for that matter Hatha yoga ↗, practised there for perhaps 900 years. It is true that we Westerners cheerfully say "Yoga" to mean the form of exercise, but that cannot displace the classical variety from its secure position both in language and indeed as the owner of the four-letter title here on Wikipedia. None of the academic synonyms for "Yoga as exercise" are really workable as article titles, either (please believe me, I've given this plenty of attention over the years), so we're stuck with the "Yoga as exercise" moniker. Most of the time it gives folks the exactly correct impression, which is the most we can hope for with any name. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:24, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
:::Isn’t hatha yoga in itself sort of a “yoga as exercise”, in that it has sort-of stripped itself of the higher spiritual purposes, and boiled it down to (mere) physical practices (/exercises)? Lcporschen (talk) 08:49, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
