Questions about cerebral cortex

Hi! Thanks a lot for your work on the cortex page. I have two questions regarding additions you made:

:''While it was once thought that the input to layer I came from the cortex itself,[8] it is now realized that layer I across the cerebral cortex mantle receives substantial input from ‘‘matrix’’ or M-type thalamus cells''
This sentence doesn't make clear to me where the input to layer I actually comes from. Is the old notion that it comes from cortex completely discredited, or does most of the input come from cortex while a "substantial" amount also from thalamus, or does a "substantial" amount come from thalamus while the rest comes from somewhere else/is unknown? I suspect that my second interpretation is correct, so I would rephrase the sentence as
:''While it was once thought that the input to layer I came from the cortex itself,[8] it is now realized that layer I across the cerebral cortex mantle '''also''' receives substantial input from ‘‘matrix’’ or M-type thalamus cells''
but I don't know enough about the topic to make that change.

About layer VI it says:
:''Neurons send excitatory fibers to neurons in the thalamus and also from collateral to them ones via the thalamic reticular nucleus that inhibit these thalamus neurons or ones adjacent to them.''
I cannot quite figure out what this is saying. Cheers, AxelBoldt (talk) 16:44, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello LittleHow, I would like to make an addition to the Exercise Physiology page. The section would be discussing Lactic Acid buildup and both anaerbic and Aerobic fatigue. Would that be ok to do? I am an undergraduate student at Azusa Pacific University and this would be accomplishing an assignment for class. I wanted to ask permission before I attempted any drafts. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Academus ↗, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Dion ↗ and Mary McCarthy ↗. That level of detail is good for Cat senses ↗, but probably needs to be compressed more (WP:SUMMARYSTYLE ↗) for Cat ↗, where is it too much detail in comparison to the rest of the article.  — '''SMcCandlish''' ¢ ↗ 😼  06:35, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Ref names

Just out of curiosity, what is the method you're using to generate ref names like "s770" and "f9352"? -- Fyrael (talk) 18:53, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Vitamin D

Your addition to Vitamin D ↗ was reverted. Medical/health article referencing need to comply with the WP:MEDRS ↗ guidelines, meaning no individual clinical studies, but rather meta-analyses, systematic reviews or reviews. The article has recently been nominated for a Good Article review, so all content needs to comply. A Cochrane review "Vitamin D supplementation for women during pregnancy" (PMID=39077939) reported uncertaincy for any effect of maternal supplementation on risk of preterm birth.
