Out-of-use sidings, base f
Hi, I noticed you uploaded eight new BSicons depicting sidings in and out of use for base f. Not to be nit-picky, but I noticed you named them {{bsq|exfPSLre}}, etc.. The correct prefixes would make them {{bsq|fexPSLre}} etc., and I am mainly telling you instead of doing something about it since I could not figure out how to change the file names myself. Take care and have a great day. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 13:41, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
:Well that’s what I get for trying to be quick and work on stuff during a lecture. Good catch. I’ll work on fixing that. Thanks. CTA Purple Line RDT
Hello, before I commit to making any new icons to fix up the Purple Line RDT, I wanted your feedback on my progress first. That way I am not stuck with icons of little use lest I receive negative feedback. It can be viewed '''here'''. I consolidated everything south of Howard into ''one'' collapsible, I removed NSML stations served exclusively by the Red Line, and I gave the Yellow Line its own row at Howard so as not to imply that it and the Red Line run through as another service, since they both terminate there. Let me know what feedback you have, positive or negative. Take care! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 00:57, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:Thoughts:
:'''Pace Pulse'''
:I don’t like the color for Pace Pulse because they’re pretty similar. I’d personally prefer if it was a different color 'or' making it a narrow line. Of course, making it narrow would make the directional arrows difficult and changing the color wouldn’t be consistent/accurate. (Similar color/value also a problem with the Purple/Brown line thing. It was raised with CTA management prior to the implementation of colorizing the maps in the ‘80’s, and they didn’t care so we’re just stuck with it.) I don’t have a solution to this, just voicing a concern.
:'''Howard/Yellow Line'''
:The Purple/Red section of the diagrams are a bit tricky to work with because they’re attempting to show both separate services and separate tracks at the same time. Because of this, we can’t separate the Yellow Line out like you currently have, because it suggests three platforms with Yellow having its own. The diagrams were set up In their current form because it was convenient since Red stops and Yellow starts at the same place, but as you’ve pointed out, it isn’t exactly accurate. I think the best improvement would be to add a terminating yellow line from corner 1 to the purple Howard station and making the yellow curve a junction from r to 3 & f.
:'''Bypassed stations/Express Service'''
:As for the inclusion/exclusion of the Red Line stations, there's no right or wrong; it's really about personal preference. Personally, I like to have the stations bypassed shown to illustrate what's express about the route and how it compares to the Red. (Actually, looking at it now, the Red Line stations really should be small, since they aren't part of the route. I've gone ahead and changed that along with implementing your note about Sheridan.) This is the same reason why the Red Line template includes Wellington, Diversey, and Armitage. If the stations are removed, we also need to remove Grand, since it wasn't an Evanston Express station (again, shown for route matching/illustrative purposes).
:Regarding the collapsible section, my personal preference is generally not to have them as I feel like they're "hiding" information. That said, if we're going to have them on the template, then you are absolutely correct in that there should only be '''one''' collapsible section. I'm trying to figure out how to make a replace section be three rows instead of just one (perhaps calling a three row template on the replace line?) so that we could potentially keep the express stations without having multiple collapsibles, but barring that, your solution of hiding the express service is absolutely logical since the shuttle operation is the primary one.
:Additionally, regarding the express section, I've never come up with a satisfying way to show Loyola and Morse (these were served for a while) but they weren't on the outside tracks which is what the diagram shows.
:'''Loop'''
:The addition of the Green, Pink, and Orange Line labels look good as does the extension of Blue to O’Hare (still easy to understand with the river overlap). I don’t know if we need the interruption dots for the river since there’s nothing omitted, but this is a minor thing. ::{{reply|Lost on Belmont}} I have not yet reverted the Yellow Line at the time I wrote this, but I will shortly, probably to the way it was originally shown. As for the rest of your feedback, I think I have addressed most of it. I do think it is best to leave the other NSML stations omitted (I provided a link to the Red Line template) because then the template is less bloated. With that being said, I agree with keeping the three bypassed stations on the Red Line since they take up much less space. Lastly, I could not find a way to make a collapsible-replace section depicting more than one row. But once I send this reply and fix Howard, I will make the necessary new icons and implement them. Thanks for all of your feedback! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 03:01, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
