Introduction to contentious topics
{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them''', a topic designated as '''contentious ↗'''. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics ''procedures'' you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic here ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template.
}} Sweet6970 (talk) 14:07, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Since both are "therapy" related to transgender topic, isn't it OK to have a template:distinguish there? --by Huhu9001 (talk) at 03:38, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

Turban
RE: your comments about Turban, rereading the thread you are absolutely correct, that was your suggestion ↗ and I apologise unreservedly for implying otherwise. It was a good suggestion, and I could blame any number of reasons why I made the mistake today but honestly I just remembered it as part of the discussion and didn't check the entire conversation in sufficient detail when posting here today. I'll strike that part of my response. I've asked the admin for permission to reply there too and I'll post this apology there too if I can. Void if removed (talk) 21:40, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
:Thank you. We all make mistakes and I can see why one would slip through here (although obviously it Is the worst time for one to happen). I will say from my point of view that there is no need for the apology elsewhere.LunaHasArrived (talk) 21:45, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
A request
You are aware that gensex is a contentious topic. AFAIUI That is {{tq | not counting required information}}. You need to exclude the diffs I am replying to and ignore non-diff/offsite links given for context and repetitions.
I'm pretty sure these are the diffs I have added:

Temporary account IP viewer granted
right|80px|alt=The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address ↗
Hello, LunaHasArrived. Per your request, your account has been granted ↗ {{mono|temporary-account-viewer}} rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts ↗ that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer ↗ for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:
- You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy ↗.
- Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).
- When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
- Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
- Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP address ↗es (using the CIDR notation ↗ format).
Akua Reindorf ↗
Hi, LunaHasArrived. Re Akua Reindorf ↗. I added {{tq|"an eminent human rights expert"}}, with a reference, as you no doubt saw. Following this, {{ping|Melissa Highton}} added {{tq|As an expert in human rights}} in the main body of the article. You reverted this with the edit summary {{tq|None of the sources call her an "expert in human rights"}}. I reverted this, as the source I had added does call her that, and noted that in my edit summary. You've reverted that, and I'm wondering what I have missed? Thanks. Tacyarg (talk) 21:28, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
:Per wp:rspoped ↗ we shouldn't use opinion pieces like the Sonia Sodha are "rarely reliable for statements of fact". For me that means that whilst we can say "Sonia Sodha called her `an eminent human rights expert`" in wikivoice we shouldn't say "Akua Reindorf is an expert in human rights" in wikivoice without a secondary RS saying so. Sorry I didn't write a proper edit summary (first time using twinkle for that) I was going to write a talk page comment but decided to introduce the new language instead (which is what secondary RS call Reindorf). LunaHasArrived (talk) 21:41, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for that. Tacyarg (talk) 09:25, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
Phonix rises
Are you content with my tweaked version of your latest proposal? I think we have a solution that is acceptable all round but it is in danger of getting bogged down in empty semantics debates again. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 11:03, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
:Honestly my view now is that there's no consensus on what the kind of line should say and because it's mostly based on a primary source it might be better to just remove it so the first sentence would be "she holds gender critical views." LunaHasArrived (talk) 11:12, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
