25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello! Thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references, as you did to Dubai International Airport ↗! However, adding a bare URL ↗ is not ideal, and exposes the reference to link rot ↗. It is preferable to use proper citation templates ↗ when citing sources ↗, including details such as title, author, date, and any other information necessary for a bibliographic citation ↗. Here's an example of a full citation using the {{tl|cite web}} template to cite a web page:
: <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.</syntaxhighlight>
which displays ''inline ↗'' in the running text of the article as:
:Lorem ipsum{{fake ref|1}} dolor sit amet.
and displays under '''References''' as:
#^ Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac ↗". ''Ask a Question''. Canon Inc. 2022. Retrieved 2022-04-02.
If you've already added one or more bare URLs to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations: try the Citer tool ↗, or in the wikitext editor ↗, try the reFill tool ↗, and in the Visual Editor ↗, the reference dialog ↗ can convert some bare urls into a full citation.
Once again, thanks for adding references to articles. <!-- Template:Uw-bareurl --> <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> <sub>tweaks made ↗</sub></span> 14:39, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Danners430. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, :Nuremberg Airport ↗, but you didn't provide a reliable source ↗. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable ↗. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation ↗, your edit is archived in the page history ↗. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. ''Please note that Aeroroutes is not a reliable source per WP:AEROROUTES ↗'' <!-- Template:uw-unsourced1 --> <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> tweaks made ↗</span> 10:49, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

:Hi, until recently that was not the case and AeroRoutes is being used as source in hundreds of airport articles at the moment. No worries, I can remove the entry, however as most airline routes aren't discussed or even published outside of the respective airlines' and airports' websites, I wonder how Wikipedia will maintain the airport destinations lists going forward. Cheers, Magnetohydrodynamics (talk) 15:48, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
::I'm aware it's new, and I'm also aware it's still in existence - the main reason is when it was deprecated, it was used on literally thousands of articles - we're all volunteers, we can't remove them all in the few months we've had. <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> tweaks made ↗</span> 15:54, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
