Camila Batmanghelidjh

Hi, I saw you added 1 January 1963 as Camila's date of birth, because a lot of sources are saying she died on her birthday. She celebrated her birthday on 1 January but her birth was never registered so she didn't even know her own actual date of birth. See this article from the BBC ↗ which confirms her date of birth is unknown. '''<span class="nowrap" style="background:#2E96FF;padding:1px;border-radius:20px"><span style="color:#FFF">&nbsp;dummelaksen&nbsp;</span></span>''' (talkcontribs ↗) 02:32, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

:Fair enough - that wasn't made clear in a lot of the articles about her death. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 08:42, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Harry the house

Hi,

The IP user you reverted here ↗ is a very prolific blocked editor, "Harry the house" ↗. Could you keep an eye out for his work? He tends to edit pages on British politics and television, and has a fondness for changing "after" to "following", as well as adding "piped" forms to random links and overlinking the names of Labour politicians. This ↗ was Harry, and so was this ↗, and this ↗, and this ↗, and this ↗, and this ↗, and this ↗, and this ↗, and this ↗, and most of these ↗, and many, many more.

Best wishes, Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 10:22, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

PS

The other thing is that Wikipedia actually ''prefers'' redirects to piped links. Please have a look at MOS:LINK ↗, WP:NOTBROKEN ↗ and WP:NOPIPE ↗.

{{tick|15}} <code>{{mxt|<nowiki>Mozart ↗</nowiki>}}</code>

Best wishes, Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 10:40, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

:OK, thanks - I mistakenly thought that piped links were preferred. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 12:23, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
::It's a really common misperception, but I'm doing my best to spread the word. If you'd like a good practical example of the advantages of redirection, see the example of <code><nowiki>Henry VIII ↗</nowiki></code> here. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 12:37, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited QI ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ed Byrne ↗. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 08:00, 1 November 2024 (UTC)

1988 POTUS election

I mean nobody managed to inherit presidency from a party mate since 1988. Clinton grabbed from GOP in 92, Bush 43 took from DEM in 2000, Obama won from GOP in 08, Trump takes twice from DEM, Biden got once from GOP. Em 88 (talk) 13:46, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

:OK, I see what you mean now - thanks for clarifying. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 14:10, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for cleaning up

Hi! Thanks for reverting all the edits by this IP vandal ↗. It's a WP:SOCKPUPPET ↗ of Declan the cool guy.

Today, the vandal also used another IP, which can be found by adding "/64" at the end of the IP: Special:Contributions/2600:4808:88D0:4300:B9EF:3FD8:72ED:6FE9/64 ↗. I reverted the edits by that other IP.

I also reported the IP range at WP:AIV ↗. It had been blocked a few days ago, but the vandal came back soon after the block expired. Hopefully, an admin will block it for longer this time.

Usually the admin who blocks an IP vandal also rolls back all its edits. Admins can do that with a few clicks, while normal users like us have to revert every single edit. So usually I don't bother with reverting all these edits and just wait for the admin to do it. :-) — Chrisahn (talk) 14:39, 1 February 2025 (UTC)

Elections

Silly me. I thought 2024 was referring to calendar year. I probably just misread for the "Until Kamala Harris in 2024" part thinking it said something else Servite et contribuere (talk) 13:48, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

Do you dislike me?

Why do you undo every edit I make when I'm using an IP? 89.153.165.35 ↗ (talk) 23:41, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

:Because you're not stating any reason for your edits - that's what the edit summary is for. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 05:50, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
::Most edits don't have summaries, and you still don't revert them. There isn't a great deal to explain about changing ''Welsh'' or ''English'' to ''British'', it's quite self explanatory. 89.153.165.35 ↗ (talk) 11:30, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
:::Actually I do usually revert them if there's no summary and no obvious reason for the change. In the case of UK nationality, it's perfectly acceptable for people to be described as English or Welsh, and in the case of someone like Aneurin Bevan I'd say being Welsh was an important part of his identity. It's also worth noting that nationality and citizenship are not the same, especially in a UK context where the constituent parts of the UK are frequently described as nations. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 11:59, 11 June 2025 (UTC)

Friendly reminder

The 2015 United Kingdom general election ↗ will be protected shortly. Be mindful of 3rr: even though the IP is failing to give any explanation and there is no good reason for their edit it probably wouldn't fall under obvious vandalism. It's on my watchlist too; you are not alone! <span style="white-space:nowrap;text-shadow:#4682B4 0.1em 0.1em 1.5em,#4682B4 -0.1em -0.1em 1.5em;color:#000000"><i style="color:#999900">Cambial </i><b style="color:#218000">foliar❧</b></span> 09:34, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

You didn't give a proper reason why you made those reverts. Both edits that I have made is exactly what is given in the source Jino john1996 (talk) 07:57, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Thank you

... for undoing my mistaken edit on Glastonbury Festival ↗. I hadn't meant to de-Briticize your spelling; I'd meant to remove an uncited addition describing some artists as "anti-genocide," which strikes me as overtly political rather than descriptive. &#126;2025-31625-45 ↗ (talk) 19:55, 27 December 2025 (UTC)

:No worries, thank you for clarifying :) Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 20:32, 27 December 2025 (UTC)

Spike Milligan's gravestone.

Originally it had the line:- "Dúirt mé leat go raibh mé breoite"

When his third wife's name was put on the stone this was changed to:-

"Du rt mé leat go mé breoite"

Which is close to meaning nothing.

I tried to say the Irish was incorrect - but then some 'bot" undid this. So I put in the correct version - and you've undone that.

I leave you to compose a correct entry
