Shaw v. Reno ↗ edit

Your recent edits ↗ to Shaw v. Reno ↗ created two named references for different sources, sharing the name "pitts". I have split these into two separate names, "pitts2018" and "pitts2025". I was not able to tell which paper best fit with four usages in the article and have left those as {{strikethrough|"pitts"}} "pitts_unknown" and tagged them with a "citation needed" comment. Please revisit the article and set them to the appropriate source. Thank you. Orxenhorf (talk) 04:32, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
:I just had to go back to the article and change the name on the ones I was unsure of to "pitts_unknown" so that the bot doesn't rescue them. Orxenhorf (talk) 05:19, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

Done. There was another journal article from Ansolabehere & Persily that I did not mark clearly in my notes. I think everything is cited correctly now. Thanks for your help. Mascius (talk) 06:16, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi Mascius. Thank you for your work on Felker v. Turpin ↗. Another editor, Mariamnei, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol ↗ and left the following comment:

{{Bq|1=Thank you for your work on this article. Please add more footnotes to back up each claim with a reliable source. Thanks and have a wonderful day!}}

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{code|<nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>Mariamnei<nowiki>}}</nowiki>}}. <small>(Message delivered via the Page Curation ↗ tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)</small><!-- Template:Sentnote-NPF -->

:{{Re|Mariamnei}} I am adding the footnotes. Anything specific that you want a footnote for or just for each claim in general? Mascius (talk) 13:30, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you for your improvements here. The article in its current state looks good. As a general rule of thumb, I recommend at least one footnote per paragraph, provided that the source backs up everything in the paragraph. Have a great day! <span style="font:italic bold 115% Palatino,Georgia,serif;color:#1A4A3A;">Mariamnei</span> ✦ <span style="color:#2D7A5F;font-style:italic;font-size:85%;">reach out 🕊️</span> 09:01, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Edit summaries and POVFUNNEL essay

Hi @Mascius,

As I mentioned in my edit summaries to your edits on Unitary executive theory ↗, it is really helpful to provide substantive reasons for why you are deleting content and references. A number of your summaries have just said 'trim' or nothing at all (eg 1 ↗, 2 ↗, 3 ↗, 4 ↗). If other editors agree with the reasons you provide in edit summaries it can help us to reach consensus faster and reduce the need for talk page discussions and reversions, which can be disruptive and overwhelm the few editors watching particular pages.

I also recommend reading the essay WP:POVFUNNEL ↗, as it gives reasons why we want to include all significant perspectives that are in reliable sources on a topic. If they seem fringe to you or if you think they need more evidence, especially content that has been there for a while or has been restored to the page, it is best to take your case to the Talk Page to get consensus. Superb Owl (talk) 16:31, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

:Do you want to take over? You should know that you restored content that I moved to the background section. I'm not going to fix it. If you want talk page with me or to work together on an article, then you should take more care when reverting. Mascius (talk) 16:44, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
::@Mascius, if I have added back anything that is duplicative, and please point it out as I would like to fix it but I do not want to 'take over' the article. Superb Owl (talk) 16:51, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
