Faygate railway station

Hiya, this is my first day editing on Wikipedia, so I was expecting to have my edits removed. About them, could you give me some advice on how to well, not have them reverted? (About Compass Travel’s 52, it does actually serve Faygate you can search it up).

thanks a lot. WS6808 (talk) 22:28, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hi {{u|WS6808}}, I would check the policies on making sure that the information you add is verifiable by inline citations and references ↗, and avoiding original research ↗ (that is, "I saw this myself so it is true"). I would generally avoid adding trivial material that pertains to railfans, as that is not easy to verify with reliable sources. As regards the bus route, there is no clear consensus on bus routes individually, so feel free to add it with a reference, but the policy WP:NOTTRAVEL ↗ generally says a big list of bus routes is not normally useful. Hope that helps! ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 10:39, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Should have gone to Specsavers

No doubt that was aimed at me and I can live with it. But it might be misread as aimed at the driver... 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 16:50, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

:I wouldn't have indented it if it was ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 16:54, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
::You know that. I know that. I expect all the participating editors know that. But maybe not an IP that comes into it cold. But it's your rep so your choice. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 19:47, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

railwaycodes.org.uk

Seems like a mix of WP:SPS ↗ and WP:UGC ↗, e.g. the sentence " It is observations 'from the field' that help to keep the data lists up to date.". Thoughts. 10mmsocket (talk) 09:01, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

:Ordinarily I would agree, but in this instance, I would say that Phil Deaves could reasonably be considered a {{tq|subject-matter expert}}, mentioned by RCTS (Railway Correspondence & Travel Society) and Rail Technology Magazine. ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 09:21, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
:I suspect that the "field" is given that he works for GWR, as well. ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 09:22, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
::Hmmm... Really not sure about that. Perhaps a wikiproject question? I'll post something late and ping when I do. 10mmsocket (talk) 09:30, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
:::No worries. Not really bothered either way, but it was pretty much the only source that I could find to easily reference the CRE codes, haha ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 09:31, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Train station editing and train classes

Hi,
I've been editing one of the train stations in my county for a bit now and was wondering whether or not it would be useful including information about the classes of trains and rare trains coming through, or should i just keep information strictly to the train station itself please?
Thanks Imharold (talk) 09:25, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

:Hiya, there is no real consensus on providing information about trains which ''stop'' there. Of course, trains which pass through the station aren't really relevant to the station itself (particularly rare trains, so I would avoid that), unless it is a limited service (for example, one East Midlands Railway train may stop each day but the others pass through). Hopefully that helps? ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 09:29, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
:Just the station 10mmsocket (talk) 09:29, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
::Okay, thank you, that helps! So as I've been through that station a bit, would it be okay to include rough timetabling of the trains please?
::thanks for your help so far! Imharold (talk) 09:32, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
:::There a service section on many stations with off-peak service frequency. Are you proposing something different? 10mmsocket (talk) 09:33, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
::::turns out even though ive been editing that page, i completely glossed over the fact that it mentioned the 2 hourly trains oops, but would adding specific times (e.g. the first train of the weekdays and first train on the weekends) and also including when the last train is pls? Imharold (talk) 09:36, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
:::::It is generally not needed to include exact times, per WP:NOTGUIDE ↗. Just a general idea of the frequency is good. ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 09:41, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Bedford rail crash

Hello User:Mattdaviesfsic, thanks for your vigilance on reverting my edit on this due to lack of clear sources. I agree that clear sources would be needed for the statements that I added. The statement about the train remaining upright and in-line is clear from the photo (compare Colwich 1986) but not sure of the best way to reference this. The comment about people being hurt by tables and luggage I remember seeing in BBC reporting, so I will have a look for it. But I also had a look at the extensive and interesting discussion on the main article talk page, so I am not sure now whether it would be best for me to hold off on adding this material until after the main RAIB investigation is complete. Hyperman 42 (talk) 11:56, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

:Replied on your talk page. ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 12:01, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
::OK, we'd agreed a way forward on the sources. I'm not so sure about you taking out the "See also" section on the grounds that it was "unrelated and irrelevant instances". Such sections are common in accident reviews in Wikipedia (aviation as well as railways) and refer to similar incidents for comparison - in this case, all significant UK collisions caused by SPADs. The effects and some causes may be similar, other causes may be different, but it provides a useful parallel. Could you justify your opinion/action, or consider whether it may be POV? Hyperman 42 (talk) 14:51, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
:::@Hyperman 42 As far as I can remember (I am on mobile so it is difficult to check), two of them were irrelevant in terms of non-Spad incidents (by primary causal factors), hence removing. I wouldn't be bothered if they were, in a sense, similar incidents! ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 18:19, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

BUN

It is odd though. Searching Butetown on National Rail for departures shows the code as being BUN but there is no station page on there so I'm not sure how to reference it. Should i copy this over to the article talk page?Difficultly north (talk) Time, department skies 12:39, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

:I tend to use railwaycodes.org.uk as I would regard Phil Deaves as a "subject-matter expert". Until I found that I wasn't sure how to source it either! ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 12:41, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
:On the last point, CRS codes are not exactly going to be controversial additions so I wouldn't worry about it ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 12:42, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

Marlon Boarnet

Thanks for approving my new page Marlon Boarnet ↗. It has been rated "C" class. I was looking for specific recommendations of what I could improve (I'm new) but couldn't find any. Do you have anything actionable I could address? Thank you! PomonaPlannerd (talk) 15:51, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

:Heya, thanks for your contributions! I don't have anything specific as everything looks good and well-written (maybe check if there is anything which is unsourced, etc), but the best advice I can give is to have a look at WP:GRADE ↗ which shows the general content assessment scale and what would be required to get the page moved up. It may also be worth asking at a forum such as The Teahouse ↗. Hope that helps! ''Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me.'' 15:58, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

Draft rejection - Gurugram Metro

I don't understand why the draft for the Gurugram Metro article has been rejected (Draft:Gurugram Metro ↗). For every single metro system around the world that has multiple line, there are separate articles for the metro system as a whole, and for individual lines (I've seen examples from India, Europe, North America, East Asia, etc.).

The Rapid Metro is only one line within the Gurugram Metro, there are multiple new lines under construction. The Gurugram metro system is connected to the Delhi Metro but is operated separately since Gurugram is in a different state.

The original article (Rapid Metro) has a consensus for splitting (Talk:Rapid Metro Gurgaon#Split proposal ↗). I had created this discussion after the last rejection. You can refer to the discussion for the same.

Happy to make further modifications to the article/ add further documentation if needed!

Edit: The mentions of other proposed lines on the Rapid Metro article don't belong there - they will be shifted to the Gurugram metro article once it is approved to avoid duplicated content. This follows the standard split process on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Splitting
