Melanie Woods (musician) ↗ moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Melanie Woods (musician) ↗, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE ↗ or WP:COI ↗ conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability ↗ is of central importance ↗ on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace ↗ (with a prefix of "<code>Draft:</code>" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline ↗ and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. '''<span style="color:#536895;">Onel</span><span style="color:#ffb300;">5969</span>''' <i style="color:blue">TT me</i> 14:44, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

I thought that the article met the notability guideline for musicians ↗: "has been a member of two or more independently notable groups"; "Members of two notable bands are generally notable enough for their own article."
There is no conflict of interest as I do not know the subject of the article, nor have I been paid by anyone to make it. Miklogfeather (talk) 15:29, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

Maximum of 10 reviews in table form per Template:Album ratings ↗

Hello. Regarding your additions of 20 scores to Cracker Island ↗, see Template:Album ratings ↗. There should be no more than 10 reviews in table form. Also, ''Rolling Stone ↗'' no longer awards stars. The American version of the magazine announced this last year. The review you linked to does not have a star rating. The icon that says "Hear This" and has stars in it is ''not'' the score; it is a logo. Please bear this in mind in future. Thank you. <b><span style="color: #FF6347;">Ss</span><small><span style="color: #1E90FF;">112</span></small></b> 05:33, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

:Apologies, I wasn't aware of the 10 review limit. Should certain outlets be prioritised over others for inclusion?

:I thought it was agreed on the ''Midnights ↗'' article that the Rolling Stone logos still count as scores, hence why it's still listed, and aggregators still seem to treat it as such. Miklogfeather (talk) 11:32, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

PNG vs JPEG

FYI, the MediaWiki thumbnailer makes PNG ↗ (.png) images appear blurry. PNG compression is also inefficient for photos and video stills. PNG generally works well for simple shapes, text and diagrams as it's lossless. JPEG ↗ (usually .jpg) is more efficient and looks better on photos and video stills, just remember to set the compression to high quality. (in applications where the quality is set as a percentage: 95% or higher) JPEG is bad for text though, see :JPEG#Typical use ↗.<br style="margin-bottom:0.5em"/>The MediaWiki thumbnailer sharpens JPEG thumbnails which makes them look much better, it doesn't do this for PNG because the sharpening looks awful on high contrast text and shapes.<span id="Alexis_Jazz:1699701387097:User_talkFTTCLNMiklogfeather" class="FTTCmt"> — <span style="color:#e08020">Alexis Jazz</span> (talk or ping me) 11:16, 11 November 2023 (UTC)</span>

Linkin Park Members

Keeping everything in the order they joined makes sense, but...

Mike founded the band with Mark Wakefield. Rob joined later on. Check out his Tonight show interview with Jimmy Fallon around the 6 minute mark (and this isn't the first time I've heard Mike say so)

I'm also fairly sure that Kyle was recruited right after Dave left, which was before Chester joined.

That's why I thought things were in random order. I guess the main article needs some updating considering the info is incorrect about who founded the band. I hadn't noticed that until now. ReturnInRed (talk) 15:56, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Dolly Parton - Let It Be.jpg

64px|left|alt=|link= ↗
Thank you for uploading ''':File:Dolly Parton - Let It Be.jpg ↗'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content ↗. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline ↗ is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag ↗; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗. Regarding logos in musical artists infoboxes

Hi, I'm ''Sparkle & Fade''. I've reverted one of your (good faith ↗) edits to Nirvana ↗ because I believe it ''is'' standard to include logos in artist infoboxes when they cannot be in the article body. I've actually asked about it ↗ at the Help Desk earlier this month, and was told that it generally doesn't matter; but also that band logos can be a core part of its identity, and can be more recognizable than members or specific songs—justifying their inclusion in the infobox. See also the recent move of Metallica's logo to the infobox ↗. I say just retain ↗ it in the infobox if the logo itself isn't discussed in length in the body; it it ''does'', place it there. Thanks. —''Sparkle and Fade'' (talk ↗contributions ↗) 06:09, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:However, I don't understand why you're mass reverting these edits. Cardiacs LSD edit revert

Hello, hope you're doing well

About the edit revert https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=LSD_%28Cardiacs_album%29&oldid=prev&diff=1325885787 ↗, the release date of the album is listed twice in the article so I don't see the reason for a third inclusion of it. Will defer a revert undo as to avoid any conflicts. Thanks. Frallan1 (talk) 06:58, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :File:Yes Union octet May 1991.jpg ↗

48px|left|alt=|link= ↗

A tag has been placed on :File:Yes Union octet May 1991.jpg ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because it is a non-free file ↗ from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press ↗, Getty Images ↗), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines ↗, please add the appropriate non-free use tag ↗ and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗. <!-- Template:Db-badfairuse-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> ―<span style="border: 1px solid black; padding: 1px; border-radius: 5px;"><b>Howard</b>🌽33</span> 10:48, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
