25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi MrMimikyu1998! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of :2022 ↗ several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy ↗ disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages ↗ to try to reach consensus ↗. If you are unable to agree at {{TALKPAGENAME:2022}} ↗, please use one of the dispute resolution options ↗ to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. ''You and 4me689 are very close to edit warring. Copyright expiration
Hi!
I saw that you have added many wrong copyright expiration year templates to file information pages.
In the United States, the copyright term expires 95 years after publication (if published before 1978). The copyright term is not based on the author's death year.
In Europe, the copyright term expires 70 years after the death of the author (not 95 years). Exception: 80 years in Spain if the author died before 1987. The copyright term is based on the author's death year, not the year of publication.
When the copyright term is based on the year of death, you should use the year of death of the photographer, not the year of death of the subject of the photo. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:14, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
My apologies. I got a bit carried away on which comes first. Idk why I thought it was 95 years after death. Kyu (talk) 22:15, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
: No big problem. I think that I fixed all of them. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:22, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
:It looks like you've started changing copyright-expiration dates to incorrect years again, e.g. at :File:The Cat in the Hat.png ↗. Please remember that for pre-1978 U.S. works, copyright expires 95 years after publication, '''not''' 70 years after the death of the author. I would advise avoiding changing copyright dates on images in the future unless you've checked c:Commons:Hirtle chart ↗ and you're ''absolutely sure'' that your change is correct. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs ↗) 06:35, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
::Okay then. It's hard to tell which came first though 🤔
::After all, it can/can't be confusing on weather which came first… Kyu (talk) 10:49, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
:::Furthermore, I also know Canada had its copyright extended from 50 years pma to 70 years pma as of 1 January 2023 per this link ↗
:::I believe I should have looked at the chart more further, I apologize 😞 Kyu (talk) 11:06, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- When the copyright term is based on the year of death, the copyright expiration to the text of a book is based on the death year of the author, whereas the copyright expiration to pictures is based on the death year of the illustrator. The art is often not made by the same person as the one who wrote the text, although there are exceptions, for example Elsa Beskow ↗. --Stefan2 (talk) 17:49, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- :Ah okay. I was a bit confused on which came first though. I did however fix up the copyright extension on the Noreen's Nocturne files as per the link since Canada did got its copyright extended from 50 years pma to 70 years pma. Sometimes I cannot tell which comes first and I do apologize 😞 Kyu (talk) 17:56, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
Special:Diff/1273751758 ↗
You changed the copyright expiration template to state that the copyright expires in the source country in 2033, implying that the cover artist died in 1962. Do you have a source for this? In the article ''Death of a Hero ↗'', the image caption reads {{tq|Cover art by Paul Nash ↗}}, and assuming that this statement is correct, the cover artist died in 1946, not 1962. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:35, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
:I don't. I thought it was based on the person who published it…
Aldington was the one who published it, so shouldn't it be expired in 2033, 70 years after his death?
The cover expired for Nash in 2017, and the U.S. in 2025, but I just wasn't too sure if it meant for the person who wrote the book as well. Kyu (talk) 21:37, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

November 2025
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi MrMimikyu1998! I noticed that you recently made an edit at :Marty Ingels ↗ and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit ↗" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typo ↗s or reverting obvious vandalism ↗. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word.
