Speedy deletion nomination of Jan Olszanski
Hello Noel baran,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Jan Olszanski ↗ for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, Jan Cienski ↗.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can <span class="plainlinks">'''[//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title={{urlencode:Talk:Jan Olszanski}}&action=edit§ion=new&preload=Template:Hangon_preload&preloadtitle=This+page+should+not+be+speedy+deleted+because...+ contest this deletion]'''</span>, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page ↗ if you have questions.

Deaths in 2018 new date
Hi, please note that the LINT time zone ↗ doesn't do DST, and thus did not change its clocks last weekend, when a lot of other time zones did. It is still 10:00 UTC that is the magic time, so this means one hour later than before in your local time, if you moved forward last weekend like I did (I'm in the CET time zone, UTC+1 in winter, UTC+2 in summer). Therefore, the adding you did of the 29th was 33 minutes too early. Cheers. --Marbe166 (talk) 12:37, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
Hello, from the Portals WikiProject ↗...
You are invited to '''''join ↗''''' the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system ↗...
The Portals WikiProject ↗ was rebooted on April 17th, and is going strong. Fifty-nine editors have joined so far, with more joining daily.
We're having a blast, and excitement is high...
Our goal is to update, upgrade, and maintain portals.
In addition to working directly on portals, we are developing tools to make portals more dynamic (self-updating), and to make building and maintaining portals easier. We've finished two tools so far, with more to come. They are Template:Transclude lead excerpt ↗ and Template:Transclude random excerpt ↗.
Discussions ↗ are underway about how to further upgrade portals, and what the portals of the future will be.
There are plenty of '''tasks ↗''' (including WikiGnome tasks too).
With more to come.
We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.
See ya at the WikiProject!
Sincerely, <span class="nowrap"> — ''The Transhumanist'' </span> 19:51, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Proposed deletion ↗ of :Raúl Riancho ↗
left|link=|48px| ↗
The article :Raúl Riancho ↗ has been proposed for deletion ↗. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons ↗.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary ↗ or on the article's talk page ↗.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process ↗, but other deletion process ↗es exist. In particular, the speedy deletion ↗ process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion ↗ allows discussion to reach consensus ↗ for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> <span style="color: blue;">MYS</span><i style="color: red;">77</i> ↗ ✉ 20:55, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

~ Чръный человек (talk) 09:40, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

- *:At the moment, I do not have the ability to translate it properly myself, but I would be very grateful if someone from the community could assist with creating or adapting the English version of the article.
- *:The subject is important to me, and I would appreciate any support or guidance in making it available on the English Wikipedia as well.

Thank you very much
The RfC discussion to eliminate portals ↗ was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject ↗.
I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject ↗ is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page ↗, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members ↗ receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here ↗, for your convenience.
Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely, <span class="nowrap"> — ''The Transhumanist'' </span> 18:21, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Ihor Dybchenko and Shinji Yamada
Hi there. I actually agree that Shinji Yamada ↗ hasn't got enough inline references. When I created the article, I presumed notability per WP:NFOOTY ↗ (a football-specific notability guideline which has since been abolished) but articles about him were hard to come by. I will have another look and see if I can find more.
Ihor Dybchenko ↗ has been in the public eye for much longer and there should be plenty of useful sources around, at least in Ukrainian. Much of the article's body currently lacks inline references.
I don't know why you bring "respect" into this disagreement, for me it's about upholding Wikipedia policy. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 08:30, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Edit warring
30px|link= ↗ You currently appear to be engaged in two edit wars ↗, as evidenced by the reverts/edits you have made on :Andriy Kitela ↗ and :Illya Hulko ↗. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate ↗ with others, to avoid editing disruptively ↗, and to try to reach a consensus ↗, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
# '''Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;'''
# '''Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.'''
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page ↗ to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard ↗ or seek dispute resolution ↗. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection ↗. ::{{ping|Y}} "as a rule" here in the meaning of a common practice, like here: Ivan Ivanov ↗ (none of these articles are named by me, but by different users, as you can see), etc. So it is much easier to identify a person in enwiki by this way, than by awkward for this particular wiki, patronymic (of course, for some East Slavic wikis, this is a completely logical and elegant solution!)--Noel baran (talk) 17:48, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
:::All right... it sounds like we disagree about which solution is elegant, but both are effective and neither is against policy. ::::Thank you, for pointing out for another wikis' examples.
::::Also I agree, that to revert editions of other user, if them not some vandalisms or nonsense, isn't a good practice. I changed the title of the article, as you did before (because the article was previously named 'Igor Kirillov (general)', that was named so by user Necrothesp. See here history ↗). So if you accuse me of changing the title of the article, but you yourself did it before, isn't that hypocrisy? {{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to ''' the Balkans or Eastern Europe''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and

Explanation
Hi. I moved the entry you created ↗ to the Year in Topic page because this individual is a very minor figure in the grand scheme of things and the Year articles are really for people who are internationally famous. I might just as well ask why you thought it was a good idea to add him in the first place. Deb (talk) 16:55, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
:Thanks for your reply. I have the impression that there are collected here people, most of whom are not world-famous. At least, this is very subjective. Why I added him? Because this is the only place where it could be added (after all, there is no separate article "Deaths in 1967", only a redirection), and it meets the standards for having a separate article. I think that over time, appropriate articles will be created (the closest is "Deaths in 1979", created in January 2026), and then all notable deaths will be moved to this separate article. But for now, it's worth keeping it here. I understand that you may have a different opinion, but it's somehow unethical to first demand to give a reference, and then quietly delete it anyway.
