Questionable Upload of Possible Copyrighted Work

Hello! {{File copyright request|File:Roblox Adopt Me Thumbnail.jpg}}

I know well enough that this is supposed to help 'identify' the game, where in that case it ''could'' fall under fair use ↗. However, this seems like it is not necessarily like that. Thumbnails do not always fall under this category, so it would be more reasonable to contact the copyright owner, 'DreamCraft', so the file can be licensed. It appears this was directly copied from the game page on ''Roblox''. Feel free to message me on my talk page if you have any suggestions, or discuss it on the talk page of the file, or, ''Adopt Me!'' ↗
Thanks,

::Not always though, that being the point. It can be Fair Use, but not always. If you search 'thumbnails fair use', you can see multiple cases where thumbnails ''are'' considered Fair Use, while some aren't. That wasn't the point, and why I used that template though, part of the copyright information on the image file is filled out with the license meaning that the copyright holder, 'DreamCraft', gave you permission to use it. Did they really, was permission given for use by using the correct license? Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Pokemon Brick Bronze Battle.jpg

64px|left|alt=|link= ↗
Thank you for uploading ''':File:Pokemon Brick Bronze Battle.jpg ↗'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content ↗. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline ↗ is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag ↗; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you.<!-- Template:Di-disputed fair use rationale-notice -->

Clarification Regarding an Edit

Hello, I am contacting you in the hope of getting a clarification of one of your edits, specifically the note you've attached to the edit. This edit is the one that you made on the Gamefam ↗ page on August 2nd, 2023 with the Edit Note of "We need confirmation for that". In this edit you changed the text "(...), as well as '''Fortnite Creative ↗'''(...)" to "(...)it also utilizes '''Fortnite Creative ↗'''(...)"

I am contacting you to try and understand what you are inferring with "confirmation", do you mean it as in a confirmation that they use Fortnite Creative or Minecraft? Thanks! ThatOneUnorigional (talk) 10:01, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

: {{ping|ThatOneUnorigional}} The sentence was originally structured in a way that it states Gamefam is the first professional company to utilize Fortnite Creative and Minecraft, which is not confirmed, so I changed the structure so that it states that it merely uses Fortnite Creative and Minecraft. <span style="color:#FF0090">❤︎'''PrincessPandaWiki'''</span> <small>(talk | contribs ↗)</small> 14:16, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

Use of the term metaverse ↗ in company articles

Hello,

I'd like to clarify why I do not support the inclusion of the term metaverse ↗ in articles about corporations such as Gamefam ↗. As can be seen on the Wikipedia article metaverse ↗:

{{tq|The term ''metaverse'' has been used as a buzzword ↗ by companies<ref name="O'Brian-Chan">{{cite news |last1=O'Brian |first1=Matt |last2=Chan |first2=Kelvin |date=October 28, 2021 |title=EXPLAINER: What is the metaverse and how will it work? |work=ABC News |agency=Associated Press |url=https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/explainer-metaverse-work-80842516 |url-status=live |access-date=December 4, 2021 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211204012219/https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/explainer-metaverse-work-80842516 |archive-date=December 4, 2021}}</ref><ref name="Fischer">{{cite news |last1=Fischer |first1=Sarah |date=November 16, 2021 |title="Metaverse" is Wall Street's new favorite buzzword |work=Axios ↗ |url=https://www.axios.com/2021/11/16/metaverse-wall-streets-favorite-buzzword |url-status=live |access-date=December 4, 2021 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211204012219/https://news.yahoo.com/metaverse-wall-streets-favorite-buzzword-105525196.html |archive-date=December 4, 2021}}</ref> to exaggerate the development progress of various related technologies and projects for public relations ↗ purposes.<ref>{{Cite magazine |last=Ravenscraft |first=Eric |date=December 26, 2021 |title=The Metaverse Land Rush Is an Illusion |url=https://www.wired.com/story/metaverse-land-rush-illusion/ |magazine=Wired |issn=1059-1028 |access-date=December 28, 2021}}</ref>}}

{{Reflist-talk}}

As such, other companies that have an emphasis on this "metaverse" concept, such as Roblox ↗ itself, never mention the term "metaverse" in the body of the article. A Ctrl+F source of the term on the Roblox ↗ article reveals that the only instance of the word is in the sources, not in the article itself. It was of course not possible to avoid mentioning it in the Meta ↗ article because of the name, but that article puts "metaverse" in quotes and only explains the concept to explain the high profile name change.

This is to say that there's a precedent informed by reliable sources that "metaverse" is a PR buzzword and should ideally be avoided when possible ↗. I hope you'll understand where I'm coming from here.

Thanks,

:{{Ping|Picaboo3}} Wikipedia needs to be verifiable ↗, which means all information can be attributed to reliable sources. User-generated content ↗, including that wiki, do not count as reliable sources, because anyone can post anything online. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi, and thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to change the title of a page by cutting its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into :Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (film) ↗. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move ↗", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history ↗, which is legally required for attribution ↗. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be ''moved'' to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits ↗, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab ↗ at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu ↗ for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect ↗ from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves ↗ to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge ↗.
