Hello!

I am the author of Blagaj Castle (Croatia) ↗. Thank you for fixing that typographical error there. There is something you should know about the WPCleaner tool, though. Evidently, when it removes red links with a central bar, it keeps the part to the left instead of that to the right (and then you get clauses like "the river Krka (Croatia) is 73 km long", instead of the more readable "the river Krka is 73 km long"). For one of my links it kept both, leaving the bar. I am not sure why. Maybe you could ask the creators over at the project how to prevent that from happening? Also, I am fairly certain that some red linking is acceptable, along the guidelines of this policy ↗. Like you, I am a new user, so I will ask for help at the Teahouse ↗ in determining exactly how much in this case. In the mean time, I have corrected some of the red links that were due to misspelling, and re-added those that link to articles I intend to create in the future (if it is alright with you). Let me know if we can help each other out with anything else! Inatan (talk) 11:44, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

:Hi {{U|Inatan}}. Thank you for your message. I am also new to Wikipedia and some of its policies. I understand that I tried to fix all the red links as per my understanding and I didn't realize that you may want to create a page on one of them in the future. I will try to keep this learning in mind next time. Thank you once again. Happy editing! RajkGuj (talk) 19:02, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :NestAway ↗

A tag has been placed on :NestAway ↗, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion ↗, {{#if:|at {{{2}}} ↗|such as at Articles for Deletion ↗}}. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the {{Querylink|Special:Log|qs=type=delete&page=NestAway|deleting administrator}}, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here ↗. <!-- Template:Db-repost-notice --> SamHolt6 (talk) 17:08, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
:Hi {{U|SamHolt6}}. The page was previously deleted because references were press releases. ::{{ping|SamHolt6}} I was wondering where the deletion discussion that deleted the article in question was. Thanks 331dot (talk) 09:54, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

Copy editing resources

Hi, RajkGuj! I saw you'd signed-up for the August GOCE blitz. There are only a couple days left so you might not have time to complete an article, but I thought I'd make sure you have these resources if you're interested in copy editing:

In addition to the type of copy editing you might do elsewhere, Wikipedia's mandate gives us additional concerns like making sure information is formatted for screen-readers, uses plain English ↗ for ease-of-translation, and has neutral point-of-view. It's interesting work, though there's a lot to learn and it helps if you're already familiar with Wikipedia. –&nbsp;Reidgreg (talk) 18:50, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Congratulations on your awards! Also, I appreciate the fact that you tied for Total and Oldest Articles with Jonesey, making room for four other editors to get onto the leaderboard. It's good to share! – Reidgreg (talk) 12:13, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

::Well, you can manage your user space any way you want. I gathered enough barnstars that I created an awards page at User:Reidgreg/Awards. Some editors will copy the whole box the award came in, but I decided to do more of a summary-style since the Guild awards get a little repetitive. Some editors will put them on their main user page, but usually in a smaller size such as the tiny ones produced on the barnometer (some barnometers are custom tables, others use a template; examples here and here). I also see a lot of editors who show their blitz and drive participation in a userbox like {{tlp|User Copyedit Blitzes Drives}} – ah, you've already got one. For lots of examples on setting up your userspace, take a look at Wikipedia:User page design center ↗. Hope this helps! – Reidgreg (talk) 21:31, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello copy editors! Welcome to the December 2017 GOCE newsletter, which contains nine months(!) of updates. The Guild has been busy and successful; your diligent efforts in 2017 has brought the backlog of articles requiring copy edit to '''below 1,000 articles for the first time'''. Thanks to all editors who have contributed their time and energy to help make this happen.

{{center|<big>>>> Sign up for the January Drive! <<< ↗</big>}}
{{center|<big>>>> Participate in the Coordinator Elections! <<< ↗</big>}}

Our copy-editing drives (month-long backlog-reduction drives held in odd-numbered months) and blitzes (week-long themed editing in even-numbered months) have been very successful this year.

'''March drive ↗''': We set out to remove '''April, May, and June 2016''' from our backlog and all '''February 2017 Requests ↗''' (a total of {{#expr:248+56}}&nbsp;articles). By the end of the month, all but 22 of these articles were cleared. Officially, of the 28 who signed up, 22&nbsp;editors recorded 257 copy edits (439,952 words). (These numbers do not always make sense when you compare them to the overall reduction in the backlog, because not all editors record every copy edit on the drive page.)

'''April blitz ↗''': This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 16 through 22 April; the theme was '''Requests'''. Of the 15 who signed up, 9&nbsp;editors completed 43&nbsp;articles (81,822 words).

'''May drive ↗''': The goals were to remove '''July, August, and September 2016''' from the backlog and to complete all '''March 2017 Requests''' (a total of {{#expr:286+14}}&nbsp;articles). By the end of the month, '''we had reduced our overall backlog to an all-time low of 1,388 articles'''. Of the 28 who signed up, 17 editors completed 187 articles (321,810 words).

'''June blitz ↗''': This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 18 through 24 June; the theme was '''Requests'''. Of the 16 who signed up, 9 editors completed 28 copy edits (117,089 words).

'''2017 Coordinator elections''': In June, '''coordinators for the second half of 2017 ↗''' were elected. Jonesey95 moved back into the lead coordinator position, with Miniapolis stepping down to remain as coordinator; Tdslk and Corinne returned as coordinators, and Keira1996 rejoined after an extended absence. Thanks to all who participated!

'''July drive ↗''': We set out to remove '''August, September, October, and November 2016''' from the backlog and to complete all '''May and June 2017 Requests''' (a total of {{#expr:216+26}} articles). The drive was an enormous success, and the target was nearly achieved within three weeks, so that '''December 2016''' was added to the "old articles" list used as a goal for the drive. By the end of the month, only ''three'' articles from 2016 remained, and for the second drive in a row, the backlog was reduced to a new all-time low, this time to '''1,363 articles'''. Of the 33 who signed up, 21 editors completed 337 articles (556,482 words).

'''August blitz ↗''': This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 20 through 26 August; the theme was '''biographical articles tagged for copy editing for more than six months''' (47&nbsp;articles). Of the 13 who signed up, 11 editors completed 38 copy edits (42,589 words).

'''September drive ↗''': The goals were to remove '''January, February, and March 2017''' from the backlog and to complete all '''August 2017 Requests''' (a total of {{#expr:306+32}}&nbsp;articles). Of the 19 who signed up, 14 editors completed 121 copy edits (267,227 words).

'''October blitz ↗''': This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 22 through 28 October; the theme was '''Requests'''. Of the 14 who signed up, 8 editors completed 20 articles (55,642 words).

'''November drive ↗''': We set out again to remove '''January, February, and March 2017''' from the backlog and to complete all '''October 2017 Requests''' (a total of {{#expr:174+33}}&nbsp;articles). By the end of the month, these goals were reached and '''the backlog shrank to its lowest total ever, 997 articles''', the first time it had fallen under one thousand (click on the graph above to see this amazing feat in graphical form). It was also the first time that the oldest copy-edit tag was less than eight months old. Of the 25 who signed up, 16 editors completed 159 articles (285,929 words).

'''2018 Coordinator elections''': Voting is open for the '''election of coordinators for the first half of 2018 ↗'''. Please visit the election page to vote between now and December 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Thanks for participating!

'''Housekeeping note:''' We do not send a newsletter before (or after) every drive or blitz. To have a better chance of knowing when the next event will start, add '''the GOCE's message box ↗''' to your watchlist.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: {{noping|Jonesey95}}, {{noping|Miniapolis}}, {{noping|Corinne}}, {{noping|Tdslk}}, and {{noping|Keira1996}}.

Welcome to the February 2018 GOCE newsletter in which you will find Guild updates since the December edition ↗. We got to a great start for the year, holding the backlog at nine months. 100 requests were submitted in the first 6 weeks of the year<!--everything submitted before Feb 12--> and were swiftly handled with an average completion time of 9&nbsp;days.

{{center|<big>>>> Sign up for the March Drive! <<< ↗</big>}}

'''Coordinator elections''': In December, '''coordinators for the first half of 2018 ↗''' were elected. Jonesey95 remained as lead coordinator and Corrine, Miniapolis and Tdslk as assistant coordinators. Keira1996 stepped down as assistant coordinator and was replaced by Reidgreg. '''End of year reports''' were prepared for '''2016 ↗''' and '''2017 ↗''', providing a detailed look at the Guild's long-term progress.

'''January drive ↗''': We set out to remove '''April, May, and June 2017''' from our backlog and all '''December 2017 Requests ↗''' (a total of {{#expr:262+13}}&nbsp;articles). As with previous years, the January drive was an outstanding success and by the end of the month all but 57 of these articles were cleared. Officially, of the 38 who signed up, 21&nbsp;editors recorded 259 copy edits (490,256&nbsp;words).

'''February blitz ↗''': This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 11 through 17 February, focusing on '''Requests''' and the last articles tagged in '''May 2017'''. At the end of the week there were only 14 pending requests, with none older than 20 days. Of the 11 who signed up, 10&nbsp;editors completed 35&nbsp;copy edits (98,538&nbsp;words).

Printful ↗ moved to draftspace

An article you recently created in the main space, Printful ↗, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable ↗, independent sources ↗. <small>(? ↗)</small>. In order to meet the corporation notability guidelines ↗ you need significant coverage in multiple independent reliable secondary sources. At the moment only the TechCrunch article appears to meet those guidelines. I've moved your draft to draftspace ↗ (with a prefix of "<code>Draft:</code>" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline ↗ and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation ↗ template atop the page. While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons ↗.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary ↗ or on the article's talk page ↗.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process ↗, but other deletion process ↗es exist. Welcome to the June 2018 GOCE newsletter, in which you will find Guild updates since the February edition ↗.
Progress continues to be made on the copyediting backlog, which has been reduced to 7&nbsp;months and reached a new all-time low. '''Requests ↗''' continue to be handled efficiently this year, with 272 completed by the end of May (an average completion time of 10.5&nbsp;days). Fewer than 10% of these waited longer than 20&nbsp;days, and the longest wait time was 29&nbsp;days.

Wikipedia in general, and the Guild in particular, experienced a deep loss with the death on 20 March of Corinne. Corinne (a GOCE coordinator since 1 July 2016) was a tireless aide on the requests page, and her peerless copyediting is a part of innumerable GAs and FAs. Her good cheer, courtesy and tact are very much missed.

'''March drive ↗''': The goal was to remove '''June, July and August 2017''' from our backlog and all '''February 2018 Requests''' (a total of {{#expr:202+17}}&nbsp;articles). This drive was an outstanding success, and by the end of the month all but eight of these articles were cleared. Of the 33 editors who signed up, 19 recorded 277 copy edits (425,758&nbsp;words).<!--"official" results taken from the barnstars page-->

'''April blitz ↗''': This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 15 through 21&nbsp;April, focusing on '''Requests''' and the last eight articles tagged in '''August 2017'''. At the end of the week there were only 17 pending requests, with none older than 17&nbsp;days. Of the nine editors who signed up, eight&nbsp;editors completed 22&nbsp;copy edits (62,412&nbsp;words).

'''May drive ↗''': We set out to remove '''September, October and November 2017''' from our backlog and all '''April 2018 Requests ↗''' (a total of {{#expr:271+27}}&nbsp;articles). There was great success this month with the backlog more than halved from 1,449 articles at the beginning of the month to a '''record low of 716 articles'''. Officially, of the 20 who signed up, 15&nbsp;editors recorded 151 copy edits (248,813&nbsp;words).

'''Coordinator elections ↗''': It's election time again. '''Nominations''' for Guild coordinators (who will serve a six-month term for the second half of 2018) have begun, and will close at 23:59&nbsp;UTC on 15&nbsp;June. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible, and self-nominations are encouraged. '''Voting''' will take place between 00:01&nbsp;UTC on 16&nbsp;June and 23:59&nbsp;UTC on 30&nbsp;June.

'''June blitz ↗''': Stay tuned for this one-week copy-editing blitz, which will take place in mid-June.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: {{red|Corinne}}, {{noping|Jonesey95}}, {{noping|Miniapolis}}, {{noping|Reidgreg}} and {{noping|Tdslk}}.

Paid editing disclosure required

left|25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello RajkGuj. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements ↗. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest ↗ (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view ↗ and what Wikipedia is not ↗, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO ↗.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page ↗ of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation ↗ process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are '''<u>required</u> by the Wikimedia Terms of Use ↗ to disclose your employer, client and affiliation.''' You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:RajkGuj. The template {{tl|Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{tlc|paid|2=user=RajkGuj|3=employer=<var>InsertName</var>|4=client=<var>InsertName</var>}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. <!-- Template:Uw-paid1 --> <span style="font-family:monospace;font-weight:bold;font-size:16px;color:hsl(205, 98%, 55%);">GSS</span> (talk<small>|c ↗|em ↗</small>) 15:32, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

: Hello {{U|GSS}}. Thank you for your message. I have not received compensation for my edits in the past but I do agree that for my recent page creation - GoMechanic, I do expect to receive compensation. I try to make contributions with the WP:GOCE ↗, based on my skills in the English language along with the creation of Wikipedia:Requested articles/Sports ↗ section since I am well-acquainted with the topics. I have posted the mandatory disclosure on my user page at User:RajkGuj now. Please let me know if there is anything else that needs to be done. RajkGuj (talk) 11:53, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

{{Ivmbox|Hello, RajkGuj. Voting in the '''2018 Arbitration Committee elections ↗''' is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee ↗ is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process ↗. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans ↗, topic bans ↗, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy ↗ describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates ↗ and submit your choices on the '''voting page ↗'''. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

left|25px|alt= ↗Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to :Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing ↗. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution ↗, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content ↗. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hello and welcome to the March newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since December 2018. All being well, we're planning to issue these quarterly in 2019, balancing the need to communicate widely with the avoidance of filling up talk pages. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below.

'''January Drive:''' Thanks to everyone for the splendid work in '''January's Backlog Elimination Drive''' ↗. We removed copyedit tags from all of the articles tagged in our original target months of June, July and August 2018, and by 24 January we ran out of articles. After adding September, we finished the month with 8 target articles remaining and 842 left in the backlog. GOCE copyeditors also completed 48<!--in archives--> requests for copyedit ↗ in January. Of the 31 people who signed up for this drive, 24<!--excluding one editor whose attempted c/es weren't adequate --> copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available '''here''' ↗.

'''Blitz:''' Thanks to everyone who participated in the '''February Blitz''' ↗. Of the 15 people who signed up, 13 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed 32 copyedits, including 15 requests. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available '''here''' ↗.

'''Progress report:''' As of 23:39, 18 March 2019 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors have completed 108 requests since 1 January and the backlog stands at 851 articles.<!--Coords can update or remove this line before sending the newsletter. -->

'''March Drive''': The month-long '''March drive''' ↗ is now underway; the target months are October and November 2018. Awards will be given to everyone who copyedits at least one article from the backlog. '''Sign up here''' ↗!

'''Election reminder''': It may only be March but don't forget our mid-year Election of Coordinators opens for nominations on 1 June. Coordinators ↗ normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here ↗.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators {{noping|Miniapolis}}, {{noping|Baffle gab1978}}, {{noping|Jonesey95}}, {{noping|Reidgreg}} and {{noping|Tdslk}}.

'''Progress report:''' As of 04:36, 3 June 2019 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors have completed 267 requests since 1 January. The backlog of tagged articles stands at 605 articles.<!--Coords can update or remove this line before sending the newsletter. -->

'''May Drive:''' During the '''May Backlog Elimination Drive''' ↗, Guild copy-editors removed copyedit tags from 191 of the 192 articles tagged in our original target months of November and December&nbsp;2018, and January 2019 was added on 22 May. We finished the month with 81 target articles remaining and a '''record low of 598 articles''' in the backlog. GOCE copyeditors also completed 24<!--counted from *R tags on drive page--> requests for copyedit ↗ during the May drive,<!--careful with the wording here; this should reflect the requests completed as part of the drive, not the total requests completed for the month--> and the month ended with 35 requests pending. Of the 26 people who signed up for this drive, 21 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available '''here''' ↗.

Paid editing

Hello RajkGuj, Thank you for disclosing paid editing. As per WP:Paid ↗, please provide links on your Wikipedia user page to all active accounts at websites where you advertise paid Wikipedia-editing services e.g. your freelancer account etc. also, if GoMechanic ↗ isn't your first paid job you'll need to disclose all paid edits you have made on Wikipedia from this or any other account. Thank you. <span style="font-family:monospace;font-weight:bold;font-size:16px;color:hsl(205, 98%, 55%);">GSS</span> (talk<small>|c ↗|em ↗</small>) 06:29, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
:Hello {{U|GSS}}. I have disclosed paid editing for GoMechanic ↗ and that was my first paid job. I search for subjects/topics in the Indian industry with notable coverage and attempt to add them to the encyclopedia since that seems like one of the ways in which I can contribute, apart from copy-editing articles and using the features of Wikipedia:WPCleaner ↗. Thank you RajkGuj (talk) 17:50, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
::That is not the only article for which you have taken payment, so I am blocking your account until you are willing to be upfront about ''all'' of the Wikipedia work you have accepted via Upwork. :::Hi {{U|Yunshui}}. I have accepted work via Upwork but two of those projects were consultancy services where I have helped writers and brands formulate the content they can submit to Wikipedia. I tried creating a page for Printful in expectation of payment but it was not successful and hence, I have not disclosed the same. I have created pages for Cricketers after identifying their names from the list on Wikipedia:Requested articles/Sports ↗. Thank you RajkGuj (talk) 07:39, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

{{unblock reviewed | 1=I agree that I have an Upwork profile as a Wikipedia contributor but I have denied projects in 75% of the cases due to a lack of any significant, neutral, independent, and reliable coverage complying with Wikipedia policies. I disclosed paid editing for GoMechanic at the time of publishing the page. I did not disclose at the time of Printful and BeatMySalary since I was unaware of the fact that I need to disclose even when the page has not been accepted. I have provided consultancy services to 2 other brands on how the content for the page must be prepared but even their pages have not successfully been published on Wikipedia. I randomly copyedit articles when I understand how I can contribute to Wikipedia, create pages using the list on Wikipedia:Requested articles/Sports ↗ and then search for Indian brands who have a chance of being on Wikipedia. I am not a professional in any subject to have the acumen to create subject pages. The only area where I believe I can contribute in terms of expanding Wikipedia is sports (cricket) and Indian companies. Please advise how I should proceed further. | decline =Changing from hold to decline. Per discussion on this page, you have admitted to WP:sock puppetry ↗ and are stating an intent to go on with promotional editing. Wikipedia neither knows nor cares about how the publishing or media works anywhere. We need only know that this is an encyclopedia, not a promotional venue. :::Hi {{U|GSS}}. Here's some more clarity on my contributions and my Upwork profile:
# I use a public Wi-Fi connection at an office space. There are several activities conducted and managed through the same IP address that I am not responsible for.
# I do agree that I have accepted paid projects for Wikipedia through my Upwork profile but as I have mentioned earlier, they are of different types. I provide consulting and content creation services because my forte lies in language. I help brands understand how they need to comply with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I share a guide mentioning the factors that need to be considered and the notability/credibility that brands need to establish before they qualify to be on Wikipedia. I explain the terms - significant, independent, reliable, and notable for clients to make righteous attempts to be on Wikipedia. So, 2 out of those 7 tasks were for consulting, for the purpose of assisting brands to create appropriate content with publishing houses.
# In certain cases, I have tried to submit brand pages on the client's behalf but the efforts have failed. I SINCERELY did not know that I should disclose paid editing even in cases when the project was a failure and the page did not get accepted. These include my efforts for Nestaway, Savaari, Printful, and BeatMySalary. I was paid a minimal fee by the client for my time and sincere efforts on research, coordination, and content creation. I APOLOGIZE for not disclosing the action made in March 2017 for the page Mary Montagu-Scott ↗ but as a newbie, I was unaware of the strictness of the policy.
# I'd also like to mention that I now partially understand Wikipedia's Terms of Use stating that disclosure is important even if an editor 'intends' to earn through its contributions but in some of my attempts, I submit the content on Wikipedia before reaching out to the brand/client. Wikipedia's credibility and notability guidelines, especially with respect to Indian brands, is quite tricky and I cannot commit to a client until and unless my efforts are successful.
# I have over 1100 contributions on Wikipedia and less than 0.5% of them were made with the intention of earning through Wikipedia.
# I have a pseudo name for my Wikipedia profile because I don't wish to disclose my name. You can take a look at my current Upwork profile, I have removed all information and experience with respect to Wikipedia.
# Lastly, I VOUCH and guarantee that I will disclose paid editing activities, if any, even for failed projects on Wikipedia. Please let me know if I need to disclose in cases where I am providing consulting or content creation services and acting as a mediator/communication strategist between the brand and the media.

Thank you. RajkGuj (talk) 08:07, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

:You have not yet disclosed the previous account(s) that you used to create two articles before shifting to this account. We already have enough paid editors so I don't think we need more of them. Also, can you please disclose the name of those two topics for whom you have provided Wikipedia consultation services? <span style="font-family:monospace;font-weight:bold;font-size:16px;color:hsl(205, 98%, 55%);">GSS</span> (talk<small>|c ↗|em ↗</small>) 11:27, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
::Hi {{U|GSS}}. I made 5-6 accounts in the past to learn Wikipedia since it is not an easy platform. I think you are talking about Becktea and Gayatri0704. A learner makes mistakes because grasping ALL of the policies, tags, guidelines, rules, regulations, violations in one-go is not easy but administrators just block/interrogate/harass on account of small errors and even genuine efforts are completely flushed out. I appreciate that you don't need more paid editors but I have actively participated in the Drives and Blitzes for Copy editors and also created pages for cricketers from the Requested Pages section only to add value to the encyclopedia. The topics for which I offered Wikipedia consultation services include Multiple Wireless Power Transfer and an NGO for Youth.
::I am constantly making efforts to get Indian brands on the encyclopedia since they are neglected. Admins and editors don't have much idea about how the media and publishing industry functions here. There are pages for brands that are too new in the market, don't have a standing yet whilst the pages for brands that have a large consumer base are rejected. I PROMISE to not charge any fee for further contributions and that's the guarantee that I can give. Thank you. RajkGuj (talk) 10:40, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

:::{{ping|Dlohcierekim}} do you mind changing the block log and tag as per the above message. Thank you. <span style="font-family:monospace;font-weight:bold;font-size:16px;color:hsl(205, 98%, 55%);">GSS</span> (talk<small>|c ↗|em ↗</small>) 10:46, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to the September newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since June&nbsp;2019.

'''June election ↗:''' Reidgreg was chosen as lead coordinator, and is being assisted by Baffle gab1978, Miniapolis, Tdslk, and first-time coordinator Twofingered Typist. Jonesey95 took a respite after serving for six years. Thanks to everyone who participated!

'''June Blitz''' ↗: From 16 to 22 June, we copy edited articles on the themes of nature and the environment along with requests ↗. 12 participating editors completed 35 copy edits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here ↗.

'''July Drive''' ↗: The year's fourth backlog-elimination drive was a great success, clearing all articles tagged in January and February, and bringing the copy-editing backlog to a low of five months and a record low of '''585 articles''' while also completing 48 requests. Of the 30 people who signed up, 29 copyedited at least one article, a participation level last matched in May&nbsp;2015. Final results and awards are listed here ↗.

'''August Blitz''' ↗: From 18 to 24 August, we copy edited articles tagged in March&nbsp;2019 and requests. 12 participating editors completed 26 copy edits on the blitz. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here ↗.

'''Progress report:''' As of 03:00, 23 September 2019 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors had processed 413 requests since 1 January. The backlog of tagged articles stood at 599 articles, close to our record month-end low of 585.

'''Requests page ↗:''' We are experimenting with automated archiving of copy edit requests; a discussion on REQ Talk (permalinked) ↗ initiated by Bobbychan193 has resulted in Zhuyifei1999 writing a bot script ↗ for the Guild. Testing is now underway and is expected to be completed by 3&nbsp;October; for this reason, '''no manual archiving of requests should be done until the testing period is over'''. We will then assess the bot's performance ↗ and discuss whether to make this arrangement permanent.

'''September Drive''' ↗: Our current backlog-elimination drive is open until 23:59 on 30 September (UTC) and is open to all copy editors. Sign up today!

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators, {{noping|Baffle gab1978}}, {{noping|Miniapolis}}, {{noping|Reidgreg}}, {{noping|Tdslk}} and {{noping|Twofingered Typist}}.

Hello and welcome to the December 2019 GOCE newsletter, an update of Guild happenings since the September edition ↗. Our Annual Report should be ready in late January.

right|thumb ↗

'''Election time ↗''': Nominations for the election of a new tranche of Guild coordinators to serve for the first half of 2020 will be open from 1 to 15&nbsp;December. Voting will then take place and the election will close on 31&nbsp;December at 23:59 UTC. Positions for Guild coordinators, who perform the important behind-the-scenes tasks that keep our project running smoothly, are open to all Wikipedians in good standing. We welcome self-nominations so please consider nominating yourself if you've ever thought about helping out; it's ''your'' Guild and it doesn't run itself!

'''September Drive''' ↗: Of the thirty-two editors who signed up, twenty-three editors copy edited at least one article; they completed 39 requests and removed 138 articles from the backlog, bringing the backlog to a low of 519 articles.

'''October Blitz ↗''': This event ran from 13 to 19 October, with themes of science, technology and transport articles tagged for copy edit, and Requests. Sixteen editors helped remove 29 articles from the backlog and completed 23 requests.

''''''November Drive''' ↗''': Of the twenty-eight editors who signed up for this event, twenty editors completed at least one copy edit; they completed 29 requests and removed 133 articles from the backlog.

Our '''December Blitz ↗''' will run from 15 to 21 December. Sign up now!

'''Progress report''': From September to November 2019, GOCE copy editors processed 154 requests<!--includes 7 declined or withdrawn-->. Over the same period, the backlog of articles tagged for copy editing was reduced by 41% to an '''all-time low of 479 articles'''.

'''Request archiving''': The archiving of completed requests has now been automated. Thanks to {{noping|Zhuyifei1999}} and {{noping|Bobbychan193}}, '''{{noping|YiFeiBot}}''' is now archiving the Requests page ↗. Archiving occurs around 24&nbsp;hours after a user's signature and one of the templates '''{{tl|Done}}''', '''{{tl|Withdrawn}}''' or '''{{tl|Declined}}''' are placed below the request. The bot uses the Guild's standard "purpose codes" to determine the way it should archive each request so it's important to use the correct codes and templates ↗.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators; {{noping|Reidgreg}}, {{noping|Baffle gab1978}}, {{noping|Miniapolis}}, {{noping|Tdslk}} and {{noping|Twofingered Typist}}.

Hello and welcome to the March newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since December&nbsp;2019. All being well, we're planning to issue these quarterly in 2020, balancing the need to communicate widely with the avoidance of filling up talk pages. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below.

'''Election results ↗''': There was little changeover in the roster of Guild Coordinators, with Miniapolis stepping down with distinction as a ''coordinator emeritus'' while Jonesey95 returned as lead coordinator. The next election is scheduled for June&nbsp;2020 and all Wikipedians in good standing may participate.

'''January Drive ↗''': Thanks to everyone for the splendid work, completing 215 copy edits including 56 articles from the Requests page ↗ and 116 backlog articles from the target months of June to August&nbsp;2019. At the conclusion of the drive there was a '''record low of 323 articles''' in the copy editing backlog. Of the 27 editors who signed up for the drive, 21 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here ↗.

'''February Blitz ↗''': Of the 15 editors who signed up for this one-week blitz, 13 completed at least one copy edit. A total of 32 articles were copy edited, evenly split between the twin goals of requests and the oldest articles from the copy-editing backlog. Full results are here ↗.

'''March Drive ↗''': Currently underway, this event is targeting requests and backlog articles from September to November&nbsp;2019. As of 18&nbsp;March, the backlog stands at a '''record low of 253 articles''' and is expected to drop further as the drive progresses. Hello and welcome to the June newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since March 2020 ↗. You can unsubscribe from our mailings at any time; see below. All times and dates stated are in UTC ↗.

<div style="text-align: center;">'''Current events'''</div>

'''Election time:''' Nomination of candidates in our '''mid-year Election of Coordinators''' ↗ opened on 1&nbsp;June, and voting will take place from 00:01 on 16&nbsp;June. GOCE coordinators ↗ normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought about helping out at the Guild, or you know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here ↗.

'''June Blitz ↗''': This blitz begins at 00:01 on 14 June and ends at 23:59 on 20 June, with themes of articles tagged for copyedit in May 2020 ↗ and requests ↗.

<div style="text-align: center;">'''Drive and blitz reports'''</div>

'''March Drive ↗''': Self-isolation ↗ from coronavirus ↗ may have played a hand in making this one of our most successful backlog elimination drives. The copy-editing backlog was reduced from 477 to a '''record low of 118 articles''', a 75% reduction. The last four months of 2019 were cleared, reducing the backlog to three months. Fifty requests were also completed, and the total word count of copy-edited articles was 759,945. Of the 29 editors who signed up, 22 completed at least one copy edit. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here ↗.

'''April Blitz ↗''': This blitz ran from 12 to 18&nbsp;April with a theme of Indian military history ↗. Of the 18 people who signed up, 14 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed a total of 60 copyedits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here ↗.

'''May Drive ↗''': This event marked the 10th anniversary of the GOCE's copy-editing drives, and set a goal of diminishing the backlog to just one month of articles, as close to zero articles as possible. '''We achieved the goal of eliminating all articles that had been tagged prior to the start of the drive, for the first time in our history!''' Of the 51 editors who signed up, 43 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here ↗.

<div style="text-align: center;">'''Other news'''</div>

'''Progress report''': as of 2&nbsp;June, GOCE participants had processed 328 requests since 1&nbsp;January, which puts us on pace to exceed any previous year's number of requests. As of the end of the May drive, the backlog stood at just 156 articles, all tagged in May 2020.

'''Outreach''': To mark the 10th anniversary of our first Backlog Elimination Drive, ''The Signpost'' ↗ contributor and GOCE participant {{noping|Puddleglum2.0}} interviewed project coordinators and copy-editors for the journal's April WikiProject Report ↗. The Drive and the current Election of Coordinators have also been covered in ''The Signpost''{{'s}} May News and Notes page ↗.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators {{noping|Jonesey95}}, {{noping|Baffle gab1978}}, {{noping|Reidgreg}}, {{noping|Tdslk}} and {{noping|Twofingered Typist}}.

It is with great sadness that we report the death on 19&nbsp;November of Twofingered Typist, who was active with the Guild almost daily for the past several years. {{unblock reviewed |1=My account was blocked on Wikipedia 6 years ago. I agree, I didn't understand all the policies of the encyclopedia back then and regret using it incorrectly. I was a fresh graduate, working as a content writer, and hoped to add some feathers to my cap by creating Wikipedia pages for brands. Now, I'm 35, more mature, and aware of how this encyclopaedia works and how administrators work hard to improve the platform. The efforts on Wikipedia are voluntary and do not in any way deserve remuneration. I enjoyed participating in the GOCE Drives and Blitzes and would again like to participate in them. I see a LOT of grammatical errors on pages related to Indian celebrities, TV shows, business entities, internet personalities, etc. Sometimes, they look more like a gossip column than a reliable encyclopaedia. However, I feel helpless, as I cannot even edit spelling mistakes because of the block I invited with my silly mistakes. For a content writer, language is of utmost importance, and when I refer to an encyclopedia with errors, it bothers me, and I'd like to make the required changes. It would be great if you could unblock my account and allow me to improve the platform. I'll read the policies again and again before making contributions to avoid breaking any guidelines. Thanks for reading my appeal. Await your decision. RajkGuj (talk) 11:14, 10 September 2025 (UTC) |accept = With the consent of the blocking admin and given the time that has passed, I've lifted your block. You are subject to a WP:TOPICBAN ↗ on Indian brands, broadly construed. I ''suggest'' you refrain from all further paid editing and ''strongly suggest'' you stick to a single account. Note that these two suggestions are not conditions of your unblock, though, just suggestions to help you stay out of trouble. Welcome back and happy editing! Yamla (talk) 14:51, 10 September 2025 (UTC)}}
:Thank you Yamla for the unblock. It would be great if you could guide me on this journey and also let me know what I can do without getting into trouble. I know about GOCE Drives and Blitzes, but is there anything else? RajkGuj (talk) 08:45, 11 September 2025 (UTC)

Please list all of the sockpuppet accounts you've used, please tell us the most recent time you evaded your block ↗, and please list all of the entities that paid you for editing, along with the drafts or articles involved. This will allow me to consider getting your block lifted. --Yamla (talk) 11:32, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
:Please also indicate whether or not you are willing to accept a WP:TOPICBAN ↗ on Indian brands, broadly construed. I ask this because of your previous illicit editing and your previous indication that you plan to make efforts to get Indian brands on to the encyclopedia, which has been taken by other admins to be a violation of WP:PROMO ↗. --Yamla (talk) 11:36, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
::Hi @Yamla. Like I mentioned in my unblock request, it has been over 6 years since I last used Wikipedia. I don't remember everything from that time. I remember creating an account with my name (Gayatri0704 or Gayatri704) when I started, and then another one named Becktea (a new form of fish I had learnt about). Then I created RajkGuj because I saw fancy stars and medals on user pages based on their efforts on GOCE, and was excited to earn the same. During my GOCE efforts, I learnt of other ways to contribute to Wikipedia, like removing red tags, creating pages for which there are Requests, adding categories to uncategorized pages, etc. I did enter into an agreement and received a payment from a brand called GoMechanic, which is disclosed on my talk page.
::I totally agree that my log history may seem like I have worked for many brands for payment, but here's what it was like. As a content writer, I write press releases, on-page website content, and SEO blogs. The writing style for each is different. I began reading Wikipedia's policies and learning to write neutral, independent content. When one of my pages was approved (I don't remember which), I felt overjoyed. So I began creating more pages based on what was relevant and trending in the news. I intended to reach out to the brands after the page was successfully live, but not for remuneration for Wikipedia. I hoped to sign a retainer and get on board as a content writer, supporting them in their ongoing SEO efforts. However, I couldn't do that because the pages, such as Nestaway, GradeUp, Fynd, didn't stay.
::My reasoning and my story may not sound genuine, but it was a part of my marketing strategy back then. Affiliate marketing is a common strategy in which a community is created before selling services. I intended to use Wikipedia pages in a similar manner to earn the trust of marketers regarding my content writing skills and achieve content writing contracts for SEO blogs, press releases, marketing collateral, etc.
::I am willing to accept a WP:TOPICBAN ↗ on Indian brands if that's what an unblock requires. I will participate in GOCE drives and blitzes, contribute to requests by creating pages belonging to other countries (which will, of course, require more research) and do my utmost best to be a good contributor.
