I would prefer:

While your copyedits seem fine, you reverted my edits to the credits of the 3rd prep area for DYK, which in turn restored a nonexistent DYKmake template and relinked to a nomination that stated it was withdrawn by nominator. I knew this would become an issue. I almost thought I should contact you before it made it to prep!

Normally, I would prefer your changes, but the hook was written specifically to ''avoid'' that wording. You can see why? The new wording you added makes it seem like Hassam (the artist who created the work), stole the painting himself! (...the ''theft'' of a French garden painting ''by'' Childe Hassam...)
