"Presumably"

How did you get "presumably" from the sources that you summarized in this edit ↗? I'm not seeing it. Binksternet (talk) 16:44, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
:I said "presumably", because I know that the recording and mixing stages for ''Synchronicity ↗'' took place separately with a week's in between as I read in an Andy Summers ''One Two Testing'' May 1984 interview. Now I've added the quote in on the album page. So they clearly didn't go straight from recording at AIR Studios Montserrat to the mixing at Le Studio, so the piano had to be added either before or during mixing. Trust me, I've done a lot of research into the album. Hugh Padgham didn't imply that the part was added when the band were already into the mixing stage, he said it was "almost into the mixing stage", so it had to be at least before mixing took place - but this is my own interpretation at the end of the day, so I had to be a little vague there. I remember talking with the owner of a website called The PoliceWiki, and he said that many of those close to The Police told him that no recording happened at Le Studio for ''Synchronicity'', just mixing - but that's my own research, I can't include that on Wikipedia for obvious reasons. So for me I'll have to rule out the possibility that the piano parts were added at Le Studio. Thank you. Reelcase (talk) 16:07, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

Recording of Sledgehammer

Thank you for your recent edits to various Peter Gabriel articles. You have found quite a few references that have been useful for other articles, so your efforts are greatly appreciated. I noticed that the 1987 ''Modern Drummer'' interview contains information on the recording of "Sledgehammer" that slightly conflicts with what was provided in the 2012 Classic Albums series, where it is mentioned that Manu played his drums on "Sledgehammer" in a single take. Under the current version of the article, we have Manu's recollection of the recording process for "Sledgehammer" included in favor of the Classic Album documentary. My belief is that the 1987 interview is likely more accurate than the recounting of events from 25 years after the ''So'' recording sessions, but the two accounts seem different enough that it warrants some discussion. As such, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on these discrepancies. Dobbyelf62 (talk) 00:52, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

:Hi! Thank you for the message and the compliments for the recent edits, glad to be of help. As for Sledgehammer, I do think the 1987 account in Modern Drummer is more accurate as far as doing 2-3 takes. Even David Rhodes recounted in this recent interview here ↗ that it was two passes with Manu Katche. The part about him (and Tony) flying back right after the session seems to be mentioned later interviews, but I would still include that as both Manu and David have confirmed it...
:The part I don't get from the Classic Albums interview is Peter saying it was an idea he was saving for the next album, as the last track they recorded. Which is inconsistent with other bits of info: the backing track was cut before May 1985 (when Kevin Killen joined) and Tony & Manu would fly back to record more parts anyway. So maybe I would leave that bit out. Reelcase (talk) 10:57, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
::The additional references that you provided are certainly sufficient in verifying this information, so thank you! Dobbyelf62 (talk) 00:02, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Anytime! Reelcase (talk) 10:00, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
